Best place to get baby's first shoes?
beck replied to HelloDulwich's topic in The Family Room Discussion
This depends on how old the baby is, babies shouldn't really be wearing shoes - the best time to get shoes for children is once they have been up walking and weight bearing for a few weeks, then you can get their feet measured ( Clarks do this, or Robert carer shoes) Before that they are okay just wearing soft 'shoes' that don't restrict the feet at all. -

Helicopter Landing on Peckham Rye Park
beck replied to MarleyLover's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
No big problem, but just a thought that sometimes personal information shouldn't be shared on a public forum. As you say the person you are posting about has no family so we don't know their views about privacy and maybe if someone has no family/ person to represent them, then it's fairer to be respectful and leave well alone rather than share what information you have with anyone who happens to logon to EDF. -
Helicopter Landing on Peckham Rye Park
beck replied to MarleyLover's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Just wondering if you checked with any family members if they were happy with these details being posted on a Public forum? I know I wouldn't want this information shared about any close family member of mine. I understand that people want their curiosity satisfied when things happen like helicopters landing in a park, but this is nearly always the air ambulance and that doesn't really mean that everyone has the right to know medical details about someone's death. -
Found this in the Southwark website Southwark markets are currently operating a very limited service of goods at a small number of areas around the borough. If you have an enquiry regarding a specific market, email us at streettrrading@southwark.gov.uk.

Have you spoken to them or left them a note to explain the impact it's having on you? Maybe they just don't realise or aren't the sort of people who think things through. I would definitely try a friendly approach first before reporting them

Queuing outside M%S ( near E Dulwich station) today - the man behind me in the queue kept moving really close - eventually I said that the recommended distance was 2 metres and could he move back a bit - he then announced that the science says that the risk of catching Covid in the open air is virtually nil. what can you say to someone with that attitude?

Trouble Trying To Buy A CPZ Parking Permit On-Line?
beck replied to Zak's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes, I had exactly the same experience, I already have a Southwark account to pay council tax- but that account doesn?t work- you need a separate account to buy a parking permit - same problem with passwords etc. - I uploaded a document ( the council tax bill sent to me by Southwark) and am now waiting for them to verify the document that they know they sent me. -

What do people do with kids during term breaks!
beck replied to motorbird83's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi Yes this problem will continue throughout school I'm afraid, it's worth trying to take a few days Annual leave here and there and mixing this with a partner if you have one. there are some camps such as Scamps https://www.dulwichpreplondon.org/AVP-Sports-and-Scamps And Nimble Arts https://www.nimblearts.co.uk Gumboots also do Holiday clubs But you pay plenty for these, also if you have current childcare in place it's worth seeing if they can cover the occasional day. Mumsnet tends to have more information as does the Southwark website -
'Friends of Fabric' on Bellenden road is a dry cleaners that will send repairs / alterations off for you - you have to be pin it yourself but the work you get back is really good.

Yes , this needs to be reported, this could be a very vulnerable/ trafficked child - I know it's too late now, but if it happens again then it would be reasonable to report to the Police immediately - if you are not sure then you can always ring the NSPCC and talk it through with them and get advice ( 0808 800 5000) You can't underestimate how much some young children are at risk

I would stay stick with it - we went through all the classes at Peckham Pulse/ East Dulwich, there were many times when he seemed to make no progress and stuck in level 3 for ages, but he did progress, and is now stage 8 where the children can swim 20 -30 lengths easily - so he's really confident in the water and I wouldn't have got him to this level without the classes. The classes are only 30 mins/week so I don't think you can expect visible progress weekly unless you're taking him swimming and teaching the strokes yourself (which we never did).
