  1. Surely budget comes into this, you buy what you can afford, and if you need more space you usually have to switch areas. ?400k for a 2 bed flat sounds average now, or possibly on the lower priced side. Depends if it is a period conversion or in a block, also if it has a garden or not.
  2. I found out when living in my first flat that lots of internal doors had asbestos panels put over original doors as fireproofing. Also had a shed at end of the garden that was asbestos. Did hire a company to remove but it was so long ago I can't remember who they were.
  3. That's what I thought, but the branches were so high and I wasn't anywhere near them. No low branches anywhere near there.
  4. I was divebombed twice by a crow today on Goose Green. Was walking under the tree area near the main road side and a crow swooped down and came with inches of my head, and then did it again to me. I left the tree area and the behaviour stopped. Never found crows to be aggressive before.
  5. Have you tried pawpaw cream?
  6. If you are in Southwark, then call 0207 525 200 and the waste department will book you an appointment to take them away from outside your house for free.
  7. Could you get a housesitter to take care of the dog. Is she local?
  8. A friend had her metal and wooden bench taken from her front garden.
  9. It doesn't seem to have been tarted up at all. Whoever sells that should be paying capital gains tax as doesn't look lived in at all.
  10. Thanks for coming up with the correct word!
  11. Are you thinking of that weird swirly plastering stuff on ceilings instead of woodchip. Can't remember what it is called. I had heard that could contain asbestos, but never woodchip. Woodchip is just wallpaper invented to cover uneven walls. It literally has tiny chips of wood in it. It was in every room of my first flat and I managed to steam off most of it eventually.
  12. What a frightening thing to experience. Do your dogs have access to the outside when you aren't there? If they do then you wouldn't know if they are barking outside or inside. I used to live next door to someone with three dogs who were inside all day and they barked a lot when the owners weren't there, including at night when they went out for an evening. If they don't have access to the outside then it must be someone very close to you who can hear them. Why not try knocking on immediate neighbours doors and ask if they can hear your dogs when you aren't there and study their faces very carefully to see if they look ill at ease. I have no idea how you can stop dogs barking when you aren't there. Do you have someone who can come in to visit them when you aren't there? I guess they are suffering separation anxiety.
  13. You only need to leave the full bags outside and Southwark takes them every week. This is of course after the brown bin is filled up. I have never heard of anyone charging by the metre to cut a hedge.
  14. I don't understand why you posted this, as it seems you are making fun of someone at Southwark who wasn't perhaps very good at maths, and you appeared to have got one over on him. Why not say that you will fold it in half and then it will be approximately 6 ft.

[ or ask me > too!!] Southwark take away garden waste for free. They also supply brown bags for the waste for free from the libraries.
  16. Do they not pollard trees where you come from? It's done to slow down their growth and is very common in urban areas.

The Dish and Spoon cafe in Cheltenham Road sells that. Never tried it as I always have coffee when I go there.

    Car Tax warning

Wouldn't that come under distance selling regulations so you could get your money back?
  19. I spoke to a local agent last week who said the 'fizz' had gone out of the market because more and more houses were coming on the market and buyers had more to choose from. Her words, not mine.
  20. Which way does your house face, front and back? That can make a lot of difference to the heat problem. I find my house nice and cool in the summer, but the back is northwest facing. I have a loft at the front of the house, but not a London roof, and no loft at the back. I didn't think last summer was particularly hot though. I leave the venetian blinds closed in the room I sleep in and the sash window open at top. I also leave most of the windows upstairs open a bit for air circulation. If your landings are small then the air doesn't get much of a chance to move around.
  21. The no. 148 goes from Camberwell Green. I have taken it all the way to White City, it's also one of the new Routemasters, so it's a lovely ride.
  22. It could have been somewhere else and they had been sitting on the details for a while. Mine was cloned once a while ago, not sure where though, but think it might have been a petrol station. My bank phoned me one Saturday to ask if I was in Germany and had tried to withdraw some money. I wasn't and thankfully the bank hadn't allowed the transaction.
  23. Nunhead Cemetery Open Day is always a good day out.

Otta, You mentioned the word discreet right here.
  25. You can see a female dog's genitalia when they have a pee?
