  1. Maybe she does have a gazunder and I haven't noticed.... Shaking a tablecloth outside in the garden is perfectly acceptable and normal, as it's at ground level.
  2. Is this normal behaviour nowadays? A neighbour does this. The debris from rugs goes into my window if wind is in wrong direction. Surely people vacuum their rugs now. Or, they go to their garden and do it there. I noticed online that a lot of council tenants are not allowed to do this as it is written into the terms of their tenancy. Would it be classified as anti social behaviour?
  3. This is why there are signs up around the pond saying dogs on lead.
  4. The sellers should undertake to pay for the work, otherwise it's not worth buying. The fact that you know about it is to your advantage. Did you find out from the sellers or from the council. I previously owned an ex council flat and was landed with an initial bill for about 12k, with more work to come. That bill included some new windows, a new front door and some terrible paint work on the outside of the building which peeled off within the first year. There were only 2 leaseholders in the small block as well, which means the council have to shoulder more of the bill.
  5. Morning Glory is an aquatic green vegetable, also served at The Begging Bowl.
  6. I would get as many deep pull out drawers as possible. I did this in a kitchen I had once and it was wonderful not having to get down on hands and knees to search in cupboards. Anything can go in them, including tins and spices.

  9. Saw a woman cycling on the Grove Vale pavement today. She was accompanied by a boy of about 10 on another cycle. On Sunday I saw another woman cycling on the pavement, steering with one hand and talking on her mobile with the other.

  11. Does this include all dropped curbs and not just those at street corners?
  12. A pot of pinto beans are good cooked with or without some pork. Need to add seasoning while cooking, can use jalapeno juice and add an onion. Serve with cornbread and toppings of chopped tomato, grated cheese, chopped onion/spring onion, vinegar. See the Homesick Texan blog for inspiration.
  13. I put Marmite on my toast before adding beans or stewed/grilled tomatoes, your other additions are all good. Could add molasses to the beans as well and/or vinegar.
  14. Love aubergine dishes so will try GK.
  15. The Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead used to have a system for their car park whereby you could show your card/letter with your outpatient appt. on it and you were able to park for free. First come, first served.
  16. Ditto to what Penguin68 said. I reuse most of my bags, unless they split.

Buying a house is different from selling a house. You didn't have much choice except to use them if that was who the vendor was selling through and you wanted that house.
  18. I see pavement riders a lot, around here it seems to be a lot of people with kids on their crossbars or handlebars. Also people on their own, who don't look like regular cyclists, as in they aren't dressed in cycling gear. Also people with dogs who have the dogs running alongside who think that makes it ok. There is one guy I see a lot on Saturdays at Northcross Rd market who regularly cycles through the crowds on the pavement.
  19. They have ripped off the name of BBC R4's progamme.

Does anywhere round here sell coffee for less than ?2 a cup now?
  22. I have a plant pot mover on wheels you could borrow.
  23. My nephew was petrified of dogs when younger, no basis either, and he grew out of it. His family got a rescue dog when he was about 7. I was with him once when a dog came near us, and he screamed and grabbed me. He was about 4 then.
  24. If you look at the pub's twitter account, they describe themselves as a gastro pub.
