  1. Walk or take public transport if you are worried about them.
  2. Yes, fireworks have gone off every single night near me.
  3. Mako, not sure what point you are trying to make. I agree with the petition, and so do lots of other people. If I start getting lots of marketing bumpf, then will be sure to let you know. So far, so good.
  4. Maybe to you it's a non-event. It's only 24k at the moment, the petition has until next March. It only started a week ago. Why do you think there are adequate laws for fireworks already in place?

In my opinion, and more than 24,000 other people, the laws are not adequate. I was gobsmacked when I realised how lax they were when I researched them recently. If the petition allows them to be redrawn so they are more stringent, then I think that is a good thing.

  7. In my opinion and more than 24,000 other people, the laws regarding fireworks aren't adequate. Have a look and see what they are. It also affects people who don't live in big cities. I didn't start the petition, I found it online.

  9. Good to see the petition has added 7k signatures in 2 days.
  10. Sure, great idea, especially the guide dogs, assistance dogs, therapy dogs, and companions for lonely elderly people.
  11. Franco Manca has been at Brixton Market for many years. It would have been shut down if their wood burning stove was not up to code.
  12. That is additional info I posted, after first mate posted it elsewhere. Idiots have spoiled fireworks for me, they aren't special anymore, just extremely noisy and worrisome for me and my dog, and other people feel the same. More were going off last night in close proximity. I didn't start that petition, I provided the link to it. At the bottom it asks for limitations to be brought in in line with other countries, even though the heading says to ban them. At least it's started a debate. I was happy to find out other people felt the same as me.
  13. Why are there businesses selling logs for people to burn in their ED wood burners in that case?
  14. Why don't you start a thread about cars and bikes?
  15. This isn't about BBQs, or smoking, which is also a pollutant. Lots of people are not sensible with them, hence so many objections. They need to be limited, which they currently are not, except between certain hours of the early morning, which still doesn't stop people letting them off. A proper exhibition on NYE or 5th November - no problem, go to it, don't go to it. It's the mindless setting off in back gardens, on the street or in parks that so many people are objecting to.
  16. share on facebook, twitter and google? how awful for his family.
  17. I like this - first mate posted it on the other thread - http://backcountryattitude.com/toxic_fireworks
  18. Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Just goes to show there are a lot of joyless > people out there. Perhaps instead of the noise, you should instead think of the pollution they cause to our lungs. This is nothing to do with being joyless.
  19. More than 6k signatures since yesterday.

I had a cat who would get stressed by car journeys, she would become incontinent, so taking her to the vet became very stressful. The vet prescribed a low dose of valium for her and it worked.
  21. Luca's, Jack's and Homemade weren't delis, if you are looking for a new cafe, then try La Scala on Grove Vale, run by charming Italian people.
  22. This is not my petition. It does say ban fireworks for sale to the general public and asks for limitations or bans on private fireworks displays. Since yesterday it has added about 4,000 more signatures.
  23. If all the random banging fireworks going off in this area, and other areas, especially between October and January are upsetting you, your family and animals, then please read this petition and sign it. The law in this country is extremely lax, and only forbids letting fireworks off in public spaces at the moment. http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/71570 added another petition I found today, the 12th November. https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/ban-the-bang-in-fireworks-received-and-sold-in-the-uk
  24. first mate Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Might be worth a read > http://www.backcountryattitude.com/toxic_fireworks > .html Excellent, thank you, did not know it caused so much pollution but not surprised as the smell lingers in the air for a long time.
