  2. We have been fortunate not to have any holes in clothes but our carpets are getting very thread bare from the larvae munching their way through them. Getting rid of the carpets and replacing with wooden floors in all rooms now as we don't notice them in the rooms where we don't have carpets This is our third year with them. We've used the pheromone traps to catch the males from the beginning. This reduces the number of moths we see but doesn't completely eradicate them and the carpets are still disappearing

  4. Popped in quickly for some orange juice a little while ago. The cashier scanned one of the packs from a pack of four and put them through as four separate items which obviously was more expensive. I pointed this out to her but she insisted it was the same price as the 4-pack. With a long queue forming I didn't want to hold everyone up so went to check afterwards and of course it was more expensive individually so I had to go through a lengthy process of getting a refund and repurchasing. Very frustrating and instead of apologising for my inconvenience they made me feel like I was being a nuisance. Best to always check your receipt too because I have noticed other errors in the past like not getting the BOGOF reductions.

  6. Crikey! What does the ?8 allow you to do then?

I suggested to my son that he could go along as a guest but he said they didn't allow it, probably because he's putting on the pressure for his own membership. He has free access to the gym at Haberdashers which is why I'm holding out on getting him membership at Jags. He plays loads of sport at school and at weekends so doesn't need to go to the gym to get fit so it's hard to justify the cost.
  8. The place probably is heaving with young lads as my teenage son has been pleading with me for membership as lots of his mates are already members and as Jags don't operate a guest system he is unable to go. I'm resisting mostly because of the ?70 joining fee but sounds like its not worth the monthly fee either. Unacceptable to have machines out of order considering how expensive it is.
  9. Thanks Peckham Rose. Not sure whether to go ahead with appeal on this one though as I've just found some info stating that the Council have to prove you actually crossed the building line of the road you are entering if they accuse you of turning right at a No Right Turn. I'm not sure whether I did or not so might ask for the evidence.
  10. Hi all I'm considering continuing with an appeal against a Penalty Notice I have received for doing a U-turn on New Cross Road alongside St. James' Road which is a No Right Turn. There are no 'No U-Turn' signs or 'Ahead Only' signs there and I'm wondering how successful I am likely to be with an appeal. In the first instance I replied pointing out that I had not been turning right into St. James' Road (which is a dead-end) but doing a U-turn but they have rejected my appeal which I had expected. Anyone know where I stand on this and whether I am likely to be successful if I continue with the appeal?
  11. Let's hope one of the bar staff discovered her and arranged a cab.
  12. We cleared our front path and pavement yesterday which brought back memories of my dad doing ours when we were young. Everyone cleared their own and their neighbour's too if they were unable to do it for themself.
