  1. I wonder who that friend was Mrs Chocoholic! Honestly, it's REALLY NICE!!
  2. I agree - people don't help - I ALWAYS do! There is a disused lift to Platforms 1 and 2, when I was complaining about the station, Southern said there were plans to do something about this but would be a while.
  3. I got the 0913 this morning from Peckham Rye, they announced it was terminating at South Bermondsey as there was overcrowding at London Bridge, and we were told to wait on the platform for the 0928, the train arrived and it was packed and then we waited 15 minutes outside London for an avaiable platform - ABSOLUTE JOKE! Whilst waiting for the platform, and EMPTY train whizzed past instead of making our train a priority.
  4. According to the man behind the counter at Pizza Pan, all of the shops on the parade are being knocked down and turned into flats? I am not sure if this will be the case for Roy Brooks and The Vets - as they seem quite newly refurbished. Also, does anybody know what happened on Barry Road on Sunday afternoon - there was 2 fire engines (but no smoke) and police everywhere - in a house just opposite Turners Tyres?? Thanks

  6. The row of shops looks so depressing - and I have heard that there are squatters in the old cab office. It could be so nice, so hopefully something will happen to it, it's 1930s and it looks like it needs a good refurb, it would be so nice to have a cafe, greengrocers, off-license or something similar. Yee Wah was alright, but have you seen the cooker at the front of the shop - it's FILTHY!! Best Chinese I get delivered to my house is from Mayflower, they are based in West Dulwich, but deliver to SE22, food is fresh, doesn't taste oily or fatty and it's a decent price - and you can order via the hungry house app. Thanks
  7. Louisa! Perfect words! Last night, I met a really nice person outside the arches and he said "God, do you live near this", children running around passengers, not looking where they were going, loads of hair weave in the street, and all of the hair salons had food, packaging and general crap just thrown on the floor, it was awful! I can't wait for all of it to be knocked down - if I threw stuff into the street outside my, I could get done for fly-tipping. None of the hair salons have ANY respect for commuters using the station, if I had children, I woulnd't let them run around a train staition un-supervised and if I was supervising them and I saw a flood of people walking through the arch, I ask my child to move out of the way - they don't. It's a FILTHY area that I have to walk through every morning and night and I can't wait for it to go!
  8. For people that need London Bridge (me being one of them), I was planning to get the Overground to Canada Water, change onto the Jubilee Line to London Bridge and then I can get on the bank branch of the Northern Line - or is there an easier way?
  9. Is it? Isn't it? I am talking about the race from one end of Barry Road to the other, ending up at The Clocky?
  10. My mates aren't sexist, and the comments made about the women who shared a pot of coffee came from a WOMAN! The ladies I refer to are the ones who seem to take over the pubs at the weekends with their snotty male partners who are working in the city during the week, earning thousands, but just not that much that they can afford to live in Clapham or Notting Hill, so then end up in East Dulwich. These are the sort of people who are disrespectful to regulars who drink at the locals pubs all the time (and before you ask, no we're not alcoholics). One such couple at The Clockhouse once asked me to look after their baby who was asleep in a pram outside, as they drank and ate inside the pub, and would I mind "popping in if he wakes up".
  11. I agree, although not from London originally, I moved to London and lived North of the River until 5 years ago when I came to East Dulwich - I have met some lovely people over the years, neighbours and regulars at my local and I agree that recently Clapham has come to SE22 - I feel that most of the pubs I drink in very regularly are overtaken by snotty middle-class idiots, especially at the weekends. I hear stories from mates that during the daytime, hurds of "yummy mummy's" spend all day taking over a pub or cafe and only share one pot of coffee between them.
  12. Hi all, not sure if there's any more news on this, but as I walked into Peckham Rye Station this morning, there was a security van parked under the arches near McDonalds and there was an automated message saying "this security van is under attack, please call the police". Thankfully there were 2 police officers in Peckham Rye Station so I told them to get outside and check it out. I hope nobody is hurt.
  13. Clockhouse is a great pub - funny staff, friendly local regulars and decent heaters outside. Worth a trip and the new Manager Aaron is lovely! Chris and Denzil the barmen are also pretty fun!
  14. There's a good one at THE CLOCKHOUSE on a Tuesday.
  15. Blackheath is really nice, and it's free. It's over quite quickly though. You can either go into London Bridge, and out again, or get the train from Peckham Rye, and change at Lewisham for Blackheath.
