  1. Traffic on Bonfire Night Lambeth are providing their usual Brockwell Park firework event on the evening of Tue 5 November. A number of temporary traffic measures will be in place. These will include a complete closure of the main Herne Hill junction to car traffic between about 19:45 and 20:45 during and at the end of the actual display, to help the safe dispersal of the crowds. If you are going, it would be best to walk to and from the event. If you are having visitors, tell them to arrive early and leave late - there will be some traffic congestion around Herne Hill mid-evening. Further details of bus service alterations will be on the TfL website.
  2. A ?20,000 reward is being offered by police for information about the murder of a man shot at a funeral two years ago. Azezur Khan, 21, who was also known as Ronnie, was leaving the service of a friend in East Dulwich, south-east London, when he was killed. He was hit a number of times during an exchange of gunfire on 3 November 2011. His brother Pinto said that since the murder his relatives "have been stopped from getting on with our lives". "Ronnie was taken away from us after having been fatally shot in the stomach from crossfire whilst attending the funeral of a childhood friend," he said. "Catching his killer will be a huge step forward in our healing process." 'Deserve answers' Police said at least 50 people attended the service of 17-year-old road crash victim Joel James Lee Morgan and Mr Khan was making his way to the burial when he was killed. A 17-year-old boy was also shot in the ankle. Police believe Mr Khan was an innocent bystander and Det Ch Insp Graeme Gwyn appealed for information. Despite extensive investigations we still cannot be certain of the motive behind the shooting that day, but I am confident that Ronnie was not the intended victim," he said. Ronnie's family and friends deserve answers about the chain of events that resulted in Ronnie being taken from their lives." The Met Police are offering the reward for information leading to the identification, arrest and prosecution of the person, or people, responsible for Mr Khan's murder.
  3. Social housing tenants who sublet their properties are being warned they could face fines of up to ?50,000 and a prison sentence thanks to a new law. The Prevention of Social Housing Fraud came into force on October 15th and gives local councils far reaching powers to prosecute tenancy fraudsters. Landlords will be able to recover the profits of illegal subletting and tenant caught breaking the law will lose their security of tenure permanently. The new law?s been welcomed by local authorities and it?s anticipated that the government will introduce new powers for tenancy investigators, similar to those of benefit investigators.
