Well, technically I do, but it is actually rubbish. And to be honest, we're thinking of moving back to CP. It's got a more... friendly feel to it, in my opinion. We've not massively enjoyed living in ED these past 5 years, it can be very staid, and we miss a lot about CP.

LadyDeliah asked for proof of my claims that Clerkenwell/Farringdon has a higher than the national average number of pavement cycling, red light jumping @$$holes. I?ve been providing her with evidence, but she doesn?t seem to be about. So I shall continue to do so ? if there hasn?t been a crackdown ? until she appears. Bloody minded, me.

Ah, now this warms the cockles of my heart. Apparently, between 7 and 9 yesterday morning, there was a police crackdown on dangerous cycling around Clerkenwell/Farringdon, with loads of people getting on the spot fines of ?30 and ?80 for cycling on pavements, cycling through red lights, and of course that well-known crime, Being a Selfish Dick in Control of a Bicycle (contrary to the Stupid Tw4t Road Act of 1993). So no photo this morning! LOL!

My work here is done. Now you know how fcuking tedious it is to have cyclists banging on self-righteously about how they?re the salt of the earth, how it?s all the fault of those motorists and pedestrians, and how if only they?d all just realise that the Lycra Lovelies are right and everyone else was wrong and just get out of the way, things would be soooooo much better.

Should Melbourne Grove be 20mph?

Nobody around? How did the photo come about? Oh yeah, that?s right, I took it. I was around. Walking to work, as it happens, and having to get out of the way as a selfish dick cycles ? illegally ? on the pavement. I got hit by one on the pavement yesterday, there wasn?t a car in sight, why was he on the pavement? I?m pretty sure it?s nothing to do with safety, not at 6:30am, it?s more to do with the fact that he?s a selfish dick.

Today's @$$holes. Number 2 nearly clipped me, and is cycling past a sign saying 'cyclists dismount'.

Townleygreen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > my old Dad used to always ask pavement cyclists if > they did it because their Mum wouldn't let them > cycle on the road. I do that sometimes, in fact I did it a few days ago. I think he told me to 'buck off front' though I may have misheard him.

Another blur this morning. Just past the guy with the trolley is the Lycra Lout who actually clipped my elbow as he shot past from behind. I yelled at him to cycle on the road, his answer was "Well don't walk in the middle of the fcuking pavement then". So now we have to give way to the selfish w4nkers? At 6:30am when the road is near-empty? Lovely.

JohnL Wrote: > It's Smithfields meat market. One of them is. The other - the blur - is, appropriately enough, on the pavement outside Bart's hospital. Yes, it's a wide pavement, but there's also quite a lot of pedestrian traffic on it, it's a good cut through from St Paul's/Holborn to Clerkenwell, plus there's an entrance to the hospital there. However, King Edward St is one way, so you regularly get idiots cycling on the pavement. A friend of mine who works nearby was hit quite badly last year on the precise spot that photo was taken, and called a c*nt for his trouble.

Both in Clerkenwell, within 1 minute of each other. The blurred one is a real Lycra Lout, the classic bombing along the pavement swearing at pedestrians type idiot. The other is in an area festooned with No Cycling signs. LadyDeliah did ask...

Surely anything that discourages cycling on the pavement can only be a good thing?

I can attest that while homemade blackberry vodka R?CKS like Lemmy throwing granite round a quarry while Slipknot bite Ozzy Osbourne's head off, the hangover is seventeen different types of manky.

Rule of thumb No. 1 with scams - all scams - if it seems too good to be true, it is.

Bwahahahaha! This one cracks me up. I had someone try it on with me many years ago when I lived in Stockwell, and again a year or two ago in Streatham. I'm amazed people are still trying it. Surely it must go the way of 'My kids are in Croydon and the baby sitter's sick and I need a tenner to get a cab/top my phone up etc etc'

Be socially responsible, not a selfish bastard.

Ok, how about everyone sums up their position in 7 words, then we put it to bed and talk about shops or pubs or kittens?

Sorry folks, I?ve now deleted that picture link (I?ll try another way when I get home and have more time), as it was only supposed to link to one photo, and not the entire account! Something?s changed with Photobucket, that?s the second time it?s happened lately. But yes, I am indeed male, and yes, I have been known to hang a hat in a place where it perhaps isn?t traditionally worn...

LadyDeliah Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Still no biggie as far as I can see if you cycle > slowly, especially as per the guy in your pic when > there is no-one on foot in sight. OK, are you now being deliberately obtuse? a)he's not cycling slowly, as I pointed out, he was going pretty fast, b)not counting me, who had to step sideweays to get out of his way, there were plenty of people in sight, working away in their place of work, '...nipping back and forth across the road all day, on foot, with hand trucks and trolleys, and on forklifts...', and c) (pity there's no huge emboldening text function on here) CYCLING IS BANNED THROUGHOUT GRAND AVENUE. Why do you think the security guy shouted at him to dismount? Edit: Also, one of my colleagues has just 'anecdoted' me, one of the butchers got hit badly enough to break his wrist a few years ago by some tosser on a bike who wasn't on the road through the market, where it's banned, but on the pavement, where it's banned and fcuking stupid.

It's not an empty road with trucks going down. As I said in my post about it:- "...Grand Avenue, the semi-pedestrianised bit across the middle of Smithfield meat market. I say semi-pedestrianised, because while delivery vans and fork lifts are allowed in, bikes aren't, and the big signs at both ends with crossed out bicycles and the words 'cyclists dismount' should have been a clue to this guy... ...Grand Avenue is actually peoples' workplace, they are nipping back and forth across the road all day, on foot, with hand trucks and trolleys, and on forklifts. How would you like it if someone shot through your workplace like this, eh?" Here, this is it:- http://goo.gl/maps/043Yq
