The geese in Dulwich Park have probably migrated for the winter, though some rough it out and stay. There's only been one pair in our local park pond for a couple of months now.

Great! Something that a simple phone call or email by Sue to Southwark could have been sorted out.

I'll carry on doing what I'm doing and have never had an issue with the brown bags being rationed etc. The cuttings and grass from back and front garden take up a binful especially in the Summer months. Additional bags need to be stored for collection otherwise they get wet from condensation or the rain. Quite surprised that Renata Hamvas and James Barber need to comment on this thread about garden waste collection when many places in Southwark do not have the resources to facilitate paper/plastic recycling?

Completely agree with you Louisa and you have to have your wits about you when walking in some places along Lordship Lane!

Sue, do you not have a big brown wheely bin for your three brown sacks of stuff? If not, then that's the reason why the bin men didn't collect your sacks but just your small brown wheely bin? Edited to add that we've had a big brown bin for garden stuff e.g. cuttings, hedgerows, etc. for years now which we fill with the southwark brown paper sacks available from libraries, garden centres and southwark and it's part of our fortnightly collection.

Thanks for the recommendations again. Been looking at all the companies and on ebay etc and trying to decide. Some seem quite pricey and I wanted to have a couple or more feeders going in the garden. It's the squirrels that have overtaken my one feeder for the past year and I don't see as many smaller birds. I hear the parakeets getting excited but so far they've definitely not had a go. The blackbirds, crows and magpies tend to ground feed so they are still around and visit every day. I've got some money off vouchers for Pets at Home as have other animals and they have a squirrel proof feeder on their website so might take a trip to the Old Kent Road. Thinking of also trying to make up something myself after seeing the see through upturned dome thing on the websites. Maybe a plastic mixing bowl might work!

Photos and report of the white squirrel of Dulwich in the newspapers today. I remember seeing one regularly near the duck pond in Ruskin Park over 16 years ago. Was on the way to the one o'clock club (now Ruskin one o'clock club sadly closed) but he/she was a character then!

Or just put up with a bit of rain etc. if you have to wait for a bus? Never had shelters or planners years ago.
