  1. I got three months last time (last week) but (for once)I had a very lovely and empathetic doctor (a locum. Natch.) Edited to say, not at The Gardens
  2. my ex took my son out of school for 3 weeks to take him back to NZ where he hadn't been since he was a baby. I was v nervous about this for a lot of reasons, but ultimately the chance for him to meet so many of his Kiwi/Aussie family for in many cases the first time trumped. And travelling and socialising are educations in themselves. The school provided class work for him while he was away.
  3. I hoped the mysterious and fragile-looking cameras on EDG might be to track plates of the many motorists who swish on past pedestrians waiting on the zebra crossings. Mouthing a sorry to me as you speed past? Grrrr.
  4. Did you include potatoes in your no-carb diet, lady che? Best diet - health and weight wise - for me is the diabetic/low gi diet which turned me from non fertile to fertile over night seemingly. And I still bear testament to this 9 years later...
  5. The guy who came up with the 5 2 diet thought it up specifically because he found out he was pre-diabetic. I would do it myself but skipping meals is a migraine trigger.
  6. Link didn't work apols message deleted
  7. I don't think selling one banana for 50p is value for money. Not that I think Pret is awful, but I think it is pricey, bar for their 99p filter coffee, which can taste pretty rank sometimes. I think your comments on class and food are pretty absurd, Louisa, but I do appreciate some of what you say.
  8. Pret do lovely frittatas...but their biggest seller is the banana, 50p a pop! You can get 4 for 50p in Peckham. Why oh why oh why would anyone want a pret in their local area?
  9. That's not an 'article', is a very small and thinly detailed news bulletin, from February 2012. GG is an incredibly inclusive and parent-friendly school, so I don't see why you'd post that for any reason but spite.
  10. The grove and up towards forest hill - not really that near to Bessemer. Black holes do exist.
  11. Hmmm. From OP's first post: What do you all think? What would you do??? LondonMix - surely our own personal feelings about private education would impact the answer to the above question. But that's enough from me. Getting a bit tired of the aggression implicit in so many posts.
  12. "Well given that the OP works for a private school...." She was asking for people's thoughts on her situation.
  13. Brilliant post, Medusa. Echoing many of my own beliefs and thoughts.
  14. My son's occupational therapist at Sunshine House told me she hadn't come across a school like GG - praised his teacher, the class, the school. She even shared info on GG with the rest of her team, and phoned me to let me know how great it was (as well as how great my boy is ha ha)
  15. it took me ages to find the usb link on my iPad and then even longer to realise there wasn't one. Agreed, a very annoying omission.
  16. Yes my first thoughts were goose green too, mrs l. More fool her, is all I can say if it is. Edited as the iPad autocorrect incorrectly!!
  17. Because it is under-subscribed possibly?
  18. Massive empathy to all those who got an impractical school miles away - been there, had that. My advice is to not panic right now - things change fast (or even slowly in our case). But they do change.
  19. all over now, thankfully. Though as David Cameron said today, Thatcherism is still alive and kicking (I paraphrase; forgive me right wing EDFers).
  20. I love Rye Lane as it feels like a million miles away from the rest of identikit high streets in the UK
  21. Me too Otta. The whole thing is a bit daft, showing how we equate social class with property. Anyway, lovely for the beeb to confirm I shouldn't get above my station as I can't afford to buy a house.
  22. Yes, it was my son's 8th. The guys who run it were fab with him and his friends. It is pricey, but my son had been through quite a lot of emotional upheaval in the last couple of years so I wanted to really treat him. And it worked, a good time was had by all.
