  1. My mother had me at 41 and had a very easy pregnancy and birth. I had my son at 27 and spent a lot of time in hospital pre and post birth with severe pre eclampsia.
  2. This is a very creative activity book which my son loved working his way through on a rainy day: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Super-Book-Super-Heroes-Jason-Ford/dp/1780673051/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1401712506&sr=8-1&keywords=superhero+book Hope he makes a swift recovery!
  3. Can 'sniffer' define what a cultural marxist is?
  4. Goose Green is a brilliant school. Being near the station for commute into central London is also brilliant, and something for which I am very grateful. As well as the amazing teaching staff, of course.
  5. My boy is 9. School nights it's 8, weekends (meaning Friday and Saturday) it's generally 9.30 though he's in his room before that for quiet time, too.
  6. I've had chicken pox twice. My poor son though had scarlet fever a month or so before chicken pox, which was nothing in comparison. Another friend's child was in hospital for weeks with it as she got it so severely. Nasty virus.
  7. Thanks for the quick answer, stateeducation
  8. How do you know this, state education? I think if you have a vested interest, you should say so - being so very keen on transparency, as you are. Do you work for charter?
  9. The comment from prunella up there about young black males is the most racist thing i think I've read on here. It should be removed. For shame.
  10. I'd be very surprised if Peckham Academy will have free places in 2016.
  11. The thought of putting my occasinally vulnerable and incredibly dyspraxic son on a bus to some far flung part of south London is absurd. He'd probably end up in Paris. And after going through the primary school debacle, I'm pretty confident in saying we do need to invest in a local secondary, for now and for decades to come.
  12. I don't think we can really judge without knowing the full circumstances and situation.
  13. Poshness, like most things, is relative.
  14. Wow. Hell on earth. Splendind hyperbole. I think if you're that sensitive to children and Peckham in general, you may need to reconsider your route home.
  15. Just to say my son is 9 and I've been working full time and been a single parent since he was 2 - it gets easier. Be gentle and kind to yourself, acknowledge the emotions of it all, and don't worry, these feelings of sadness do abate over time.
  16. That makes no sense
  17. For once, I agree with ????
  18. God, that's awful. I see kids out between 6 and 7 in East Dulwich too, so it's spreading. But no footballs. But definitely scooters here too. Let's ban them, the lot of them.
  19. No 7 foundation. After years of spending money on expensive foundations that don't quite do it, v pleased to have discovered this. The magic lady used a magic machine in a big boots in town and the shade matches my skin perfectly. And more expensive but brilliant is the nars matt lipstick in scarlet red.
  20. I really like it
  21. Dr Seuss has been a favourite with us for a long time, still are. We read them together nearly every night and my son is 9 - fun, inventive use of language, in essence many of them are poetry. Also echo the Liz Pichon recommendation - Tom Gates books. And Diary of a Wimpy Kid series.
  22. I get a lot of bargains on www.brandalley.co.uk - only draw back is they can take ages to deliver. BUT! I am wearing today French Connection jeans which cost a tenner and I have some lovely tops from a brand called Charli, as well as various other bits and bobs.
  23. I'm not even a fan, nor do i watch it. This comment just riled me, you're right.
  24. "mouthy little whore" - nice! We can't have a woman who enjoys sex having opinions, eh.
  25. I would go into London bridge and out again, but there may be some nifty short cuts I know not about
