  1. i grate veggies into eggs, flour, cheese, mix them all together and make them into lightly fried pattie type things - he doesn't realise he's eating them half the time! Great with tomato sauce. JEss
  2. Yes, have done. But thanks for the tip.
  3. I'd really like to take my 5 year old on a holiday - week in sun type thing - this summer but all the quotes I get charge him as an adult. Does anyone know any package holidays which cater for single parents? Thanks, Jessica
  4. Could it be a SE15 postcode?
  5. I love James Yorkston - I'd come see him.
  6. I'm moving for various reasons and will keep my son where he is until a school place nearer to where we're moving to (Forest Hill) becomes available.
  7. Hi Steph Hope you're well. I've heard nothing but excellent things about GG nursery - good luck! Jess
  8. My 5 year old likes Ooglies, Pedro and Frankensteen and League of Super Evil (I think it's called?!). Also Dennis and Gnasher which is not on any more...
  9. If in doubt I say take to GP, especially if there's a temperature. If he does need antibiotics the quicker he's on them the quicker he'll get better. We suffer ongoing chest infections and tonsilitis and now with the first sign we go straight to the GP. Good luck!
  10. yes, agreed. Tessa Jowell's support (and that of her office) was invaluable earlier this year.
  11. do they have mothers in Hong Kong? I heard it on the (pinot) grapevine. This procreation lark seems quite widespread.
  12. Out of the 'hood so to speak, but does anyone know anything about Dalmain Primary school? Thanks, Jess
  13. Hi Snowboarder My boy's nearly 5 so I'm a bit rusty on this, but I'd suggest you give him a little bit of puree, see if that helps and makes a difference to his sleep? My son was a bad sleeper till he was on solids, and there's nothing like a good dosage of carbs before sleep for a good night. These books and plans don't need to be followed to the word - when my boy was a baby I borrowed a bit from here, a bit from there and managed to muddle through. Baby-led weaning is great, but millions of babies are reared on puree and thrive on it. We did a mix of the two and now my boy eats all sorts. Hope that helps. Basically, try to follow your instinct, try not to worry, I'm sure you're doing a great job, Jess
  14. trashy books and magazines. My labour was v long and drawn out and I've never been so happy to have a copy of Heat, which I usually only ever read over someone's shoulder on the tube (honest).
  15. All I've heard is good things about it.
  16. Interesting feature in today's Indie about what's happened in Camden: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/education/schools/last-resort-when-schools-are-forced-into-makeshift-classrooms-1792046.html
  17. Definitely report it to the police
  18. My son had his second MMR dose a few months ago (he's 4). He was v cranky and tired about a week after it. It's the measles part which causes this I seem to recall and having this reaction a week after is not too uncommon, apparently
  19. I gather from an email from Tessa Jowell that Southwark may find it hard to receive funds from central government as there is still a surplus of places in the north of the borough even though there is quite obviously a lack of places in the south ie East Dulwich. She is supporting calls for funding for extra places, though, apparently.
  20. Massive congratulations, and so so sorry to hear you went through all that. My birth was pretty horrendous, too, but let me reassure you the forthcoming months/years make up for it. Jess x
  21. Same here. Just talked to my bank - still unclear whether the money has gone through for the second time, but will know for sure tomorrow
  22. They've told me the cheque has cleared for me the second time, but checking my account today it hasn't though I will call my bank later to give them the benefit of the doubt.
  23. James, you write "all children were found suitable places" re primary places. I disagree vehemently. I have PMed you.
