  1. Yes of course you do, and hopefully your children will be schooled somewhere suitable. If you could instead then pass on a name whose full time job it is to make sure our children have a good, appropriate and local secondary school place when they reach 11 I would be immensely grateful.
  2. And as per the thread on the general section, all this leads inevitably to the question as to what provision is being made for secondary places
  3. My 8 year old boy has just been diagnosed with dyspraxia/developmental co-ordination disorder. I was just wondering if any other parents have got kids with this? All a bit new and could do with a chat with someone in the know, so to speak. Many thanks in advance, Jess
  4. Hansel and Gretel is on at the National Theatre this festive season too - recommended for 7+. Needless to say, we're going!
  5. Hi James Is there a twitter account attached to the campaign to retweet? I do know parents of 1 and 2 year olds but not many of them come on forum, but are active on twitter. Best Jess
  6. Me and my boy (8) are racing through Phillip Pullman's retelling of Grimm's fairy tales right now. Can be quite weird, but that suits us both fine as we're both dark souls.
  7. Great to see you doing something about this, James. Wouldn't wish my experience a few years ago on anyone.
  8. if there was a burglar in my home, I'd hide till he/she had gone. I value my and my son's lives about our possesions.
  9. I have no time for the royals, v meh about pregancy, but wish the press would just leave them to get on with it for their and our sakes. Made me feel sad seeing William facing hoards of paps after visiting his wife in hospital.
  10. I've had chicken pox twice. My son got it v mildly, but he had scarlet fever a little while before the pox and man, was that just horrible.
  11. i've actually had a positive experience with DMC today - got through on phone at 8, got appt this afternoon and got there early and was seen early by a pretty good doctor
  12. the fact you use Dandy closing down - a comic that has lost touch with its readership - as supporting an argument that kids don't read books says everything to me
  13. Of course kids still read books. And not all families have Internet access.
  14. It made me very, very low. That was one of my worst side effects.
  15. I ended up in A and E with mirena, my reaction to it was so awful. Had it because of endometriosis and would rather suffer its various symptoms than have that confounded coil again. But that's just my experience; some friends swear it's brilliant.
  16. I just think with the shocking lack of primary schools full stop, a school aimed at everyone - not just those who want their children to speak German - should be the priority. I agree with all of the arguments about bilingualism, but would rather my child be taught languages as part of a general curriculam and not be hot-housed.
  17. It was a VERY steep learning curve when I became a single mum. Now I'm a pro at all the things I used to get my ex do.
  18. Or one of the local schools....
  19. Cheners kids section at the back is amazing, trumps high st chain kids sections i reckon
  20. I couldn't imagine anything worse
  21. When my son had extreme eczema, steroids were the only thing that shifted it. Now aged 8 he rarely even gets minor flare ups.
  22. Homeless people cannot get in cars or accept lifts from people - I thought this was a known fact. God forbid.
  23. friendly fire
