I was advised by the foreman that they would need to dig up properties where there are currently 'bends' in the pipework and he did say that as the outlet outside my house wasn't in line with the meter he thought that this would be the case here - perhaps the guy was giving me the worst case scenario - here's hoping. Don't fancy having to co-ordinate people over Christmas to repair floors etc.

Hi Colin Your mother should have received a leaflet with her request to serve on the jury. This should clearly state: "You are qualified for jury service if: ? you will be at least 18 years old, and under 70 years old, on the day that you start your jury service; and ? you are registered as a parliamentary or local government elector; and ? you have lived in the United Kingdom, or the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man for any period of at least 5 years since you were 13 years old." within the 'Are you qualified for Jury Service' section. Your mother will need to notify the Jury Central Summoning Bureau that she is over 70 - Contact details can be found on the jury summons.

Hi has anyone got experience of the above? Works are due to start on my stretch of Barry Road later this week/ mid-next week and the foreman has advised that they may have to dig up my drive/ porch/ hall floor to install the new piping and install a box. He has said that they will restore the property to its former state but given the closeness to Christmas is this really feasible? Any advice and experiences gratefully received - thanks.

Unkle Paulie - Could you ask them not to put the shellfish in with the rest of the fish on the fresh fish counter? I mentioned this every time I visited (when I used to shop there) and was met with nods of agreement when I mentioned that some of us are allergic to shellfish and therefore couldn't buy the tempting seabass, haddock etc if it had been stored among the prawns (however pretty the display looked as a result). Sainsbury's didn't seem interested as they never took my comments on board. Also when I asked the member of staff who had just served the previous customer with octopus or squid or whatever to wash her hands and wash the dish on the scales before she weighed and priced up my fish (or we would be ill as a result) I was met with teeth-kissing, sighing and raised eyes. All part of the delightful DKH experience. Voted with my feet and now shop elsewhere ...

Not sure what's made some of you decide this person is a 'criminal'. Last time I looked it was traditional to prove criminality, or should we just all dust off the old ducking stool. Hi. If any of you is accused of shoplifting (rightly or wrongly) please note that you can refuse to be searched. The shop owners then have to phone the Police who are in fact able to search you. Only the Police or Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) have powers under law to detain you. If you have been wrongfully accused or detained (or assaulted etc) by shop owners/ staff you then have the power to press charges. Just a thought...

We got a circular through the door from Tessa Jowell MP yesterday saying that she was writing to Southwark Planning to oppose the development.

Have just phoned Thames Water - SE22 and SE5 are still affected and they hope to have the water back on between 8.30pm and 9.30pm. Failing that, they have bowsers (those water tanker-type things)on standby. Apparently they don't knock on your door to let you know they're there so you need to keep an eye out if it comes to it. I don't know - standpipes in the street, strikes, recession, maxi dresses ... It's like the 70s all over again. Happy days.(?)

We live on Barry Road and unfortunately have the food-loving moths. Made a 'shaker' type thing for my daughter to take to school with rice in a jar a few weeks ago (they were doing some experiment about sound or something). She was cleaning out her satchel yesterday and the (thankfully sealed) jar was a crawling mass of moths and sort of web-type stuff. Set me up nicely for 'The Shining' later that evening I can tell you.
