Foxy, what do you mean by "unofficially retired"? I do sometimes refer to myself as "semi-retired", meaning I'd do something/anything even for some "pin-money" (horrible expression) if the opportunity presented itself.

Yes...and I did (well, at not quite 52 anyway)!!!!

...the Francis Rossi Band this December? Parkdrive perhaps? Any other forum users that used to post on the (then) never-ending " Song" thread. How could it all end like this........

Don't know if this is old stuff. Daily Mail today. Tut Tut!! Looks like the Village. Maybe got previous for not looking where she's going, as she bumped into me (about 2 yrs ago) in Iceland!!

A couple of years ago we were in Tesco supermarket and had a coupon for "?10 off your shopping when you spend ?70". We hadn't but the lady in the queue in front clearly had so we gave it to her. She was extremely grateful to have effectively been handed a tenner and she jokingly said that she would buy us a lottery ticket (only ?1 back then). When she paid for her shopping and received her change she slid a pound coin over to us saying she meant it, absolutely insisting that we take it as one good turn deserved another. Mrs. A then bought a lucky dip ticket with the pound, had four numbers and won ?74. So, be nice to one and other, it always pays dividends to be altruistic and charitable.

Bought some new CD's recently and whilst doing some gardening decided to play them on a portable CD player (yes, I know this is so yesteryear). One wouldn't play, so put it through P.C. and also DVD player/TV and it played perfectly, so not a faulty disc. Old portable also playing others perfectly. I have never come across this phenomena(on) before. Does anyone have an explanation as to why it won't read a particular disc?

Would usually be a good idea, Sue, but that is a scottish dialling code, so probably old livery signage and the vehicle has changed hands and possibly wouldn't reveal whom/when they sold it.

On a recent trip to Norfolk Lavender in Heacham, the urinals were, quite literally, buckets!! Properly plumbed in (as a novelty) I hasten to add!!

There you go, Louisa, another faux pas right there!! You should always serve people furthest away from the kitchen. Not sure why you didn't pretend to be out that day/ had a must keep appointment/ ill with the most contagious condition/ on holiday/ day trip to the moon !!!!!!

Seabag....just on the "big red bus" slogan, I'm happy to be corrected as there was almost certainly/clearly more than one doing the rounds, but the slogan I saw read " We send ?350 million a week to the EU, let's fund the NHS instead". (Also... ?50 million a day, etc). This is a typical political move. The first part is accurate, the second deliberately ambiguous. It has allowed the leave camp to say that they could (only) give the NHS ?100 million a week. On the other hand, the remain camp claim that they (leave) promised the quoted/written figure to the NHS. Manipulative in every way.

The whole thing is a shambles, Jeremy. Unfortunately/Fortunately (depending on point of view) everyone's vote is equal, the "lowest plebs" in the land being just as entitled to vote as the "landed gentry". I have read and followed the various threads on EDF and this referendum has brought out the worst/or true colours of a lot of people. Whatever your point of view or thoughts on the individuals involved: Farage on the night spouting forth about losing because two million were allowed to register to vote after the closing date, having basically campaigned on a ticket of "let the people decide" Sturgeon stating it was democratically unacceptable for Scotland to be dragged out of the EU by England. What if the scottish vote had tipped the resukt the other way, would it have been democratically unacceptable for the scottish vote to keep England in the EU Gove's behaviour towards Johnson Osbourne's behaviour regarding a crisis budget to raise taxes Etc Etc Etc..........................

Not in your usual vein of well-balanced posts. Assume this was for effect and that you didn't really mean it.

Playing at the Beaverwood Club in Chislehurst next Thursday 21st. Worth a look. Recommended.

ianr Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What do you mean by "slime bags" and who are the > local ones? Why do you call Porter one? I have used slime bags as a generic description of all politicians at all levels, and, by local ones, again I was referring to local councillors as a whole, and not necessarily specific to ED. I can see where the confusion may have arisen by using definite article "the", and perhaps I could have made that easier to interpret by just stating "now local slime bags" to show the generalisation.

For those of you fed up with all this politic c**p, there was a very interesting edition of this programme last night on BBC 4. Well worth finding on catch-up. I was going to post on here straight away after watching it, but that would have been cognitive bias..... or would it have been cognitive dissonance.....errrmmm not sure now....anyway, give it a go, especially at the 25/30 minutes stage.

Can't do that any more, Jah Lush. Wrong side of 50 !!!

Think I agree with you there, Jenny1, regarding some campaigning to leave but not really wanting to win. Even, and how's this for a curve ball, include Nigel Farage in that group?

EA, thought you said you were going back to work just an hour ago. Oh, the lure of the EDF.....

As if we haven't seen/heard enough from all the back-stabbing, two-faced, back-tracking national politicians, now the local slime bags are getting in on the act. The chairman of the Local Government Association, Lord Porter, has said " The government was extremely foolish to ask the UK electorate the EU question when it didn't know what the answer would be". You really just could not make it up for a satirical sketch show, could you!!

Have been back in Norfolk in recent times and this last Sunday went to a concert by this band in Hunstanton. This is really one for the music aficionados of the EDF (such as Otta/Parkdrive etc). Have you ever heard of this band or seen them in concert? They play Hendrix and Cream but go to great lengths to state that they are not a tribute band with silly wigs etc, just playing and recreating the music of the era. They are an incredible group of musicians and I was amazed at the sound etc. I have seen Are You Experienced (John Campbell) in the past, but this band's guitarist, Pete Orr, was far superior to him (that's not a dig at John C ), so fluent in his improvised guitar breaks. I admit that I had not come across this guy before. Anyone able to shed futher light on him? A search seems to bring up limited info. Anyway, if this is your kind of music, you really must go and see them if you can. Highly recommended.
