  1. Try the library.
  2. It's only a little one near the dinosaur part, it's got a couple of pigs, miniature horses, llamas, goats and a little reptile room which is quite good with a spiders, snakes and lizards. It's worth a trip if you are heading that way and then you can go for a walk. It's open most of the time, we went on a sunday and it closed at 4. Ax
  3. Hi there, I have a 6 week old little girl and 3 yr old boy and was just coming onto the forum to see if there were any meet ups. I love crystal palace was just at the farm at the weekend. I have my son on tuesdays but am on mat leave at the moment, PM me if you want to arrange anything. Ax
  4. I've pretty much always done my hair with the shop bought ones and tried most brands, quite like the casting ones, tend to try and avoid the ammonia ones where I can. I haven't tried those highlight ones also where you put different colours in, not convinced that Eva Longoria has ever self streaked her own hair!!!! The secret to success is not to really stray too far from your original colour and I have always tended to go darker than lighter. It can often look a bit harsh straightway, but after another wash softens nicely. Ax
  5. I have just had my second child naturally after a c section for an undiagnosed breech last time, in hindsight there is no way i would have been able to cope with a natural delivery, my son was also 9/8 so it would have been tough. At the time I was offered to discuss the option of natural birth, but after I had made the decision to opt for the c section they said that I had been right to choose that. Ax
  6. If you are not contracted to work mondays then you will not be entitled the bank holidays, so in that respect it is better to take the fridays off as you will still get the bank holidays. You might also find that most people that do the four day week tend to take the fridays, so socially it might be better to take the friday as your day off. Axx
  7. Wife's Log in by mistake!
  8. I was due yesterday so just a waiting game now, went for an acupuncture session this afternoon so hoping that will shift things a bit. Few more things to try but got a c section booked for friday so trying all to avoid that. Ax
  9. I had exactly the same thing as you, built up for ages saying that he had to give it to santa etc and it went really well, he went to sleep with a bit of whinging but did go to sleep okay. The problem was when he woke during the night and didn't understand why his dummy was not there. I have also had two massive tantrums today where he wanted it and I have to say that I have just ridden the storm with it and eventually he just stopped the tantrum. A bit of distraction worked as well taking his mind off the dummy. Still at a bit of a loss how to deal with the night situation, am expecting my 2nd in april so keep saying that the dummy is for babies etc, even when the adverts are on telly with little babies I say that the dummy is for babies. I don't know if this is going to sink in or not. But I guess the main consolation is that eventually he will just grow out of it. Good luck Ax
  10. I'm expecting my 2nd, but with my first i had to have a c section, watched 15mins and had to have a lie down!!!! Looked sooo painful. Have decided not to watch anymore birth things, ignorance is bliss at this moment.
  11. I still have some places left for the jewellery session this saturday 12th december, this is a great opportunity for your child to make some christmas jewellery presents for friends, family or even themselves. They get to choose from an amazing selection of beads, make up their own design, with help and guidance from myself. You are welcome to come with your child or leave them to make a surprise. They even get a special Little Treasures box to take the item home in. The session starts at 3pm and lasts 50mins, it costs 7pounds and when you see the selection of beads you will be amazed. You can pm me to book a place or look at the website to get a bit more information, www.littletreasuresparty.com this is open to all children aged 4-9, boys and girls. Bring out the budding designer in your child and let their creativity run away with them. Thank-you Alethea

  14. I'm trying to get some planning in before I find out I've missed them all. Does anyone know any local christmas fairs that might be good to sell children's jewellery, either at schools who let outside businesses get involved or other venues. All help gratefully received. Thanks Alethea
  15. I am not sure if others have done this but although I have had friends that have had c-sections, and we have discussed scars, but it's not like you say 'can I have a look at yours!!' My skin also takes a long time to heal, it's been over two years and it's still a bit lumpy and I've still got to brave a bikini wax, but now I just see it as a war wound and that it will heal eventually, plus I have my beautiful son so it was worth it. Whatever happens just think of the end result. (the baby not the scar!)
  16. I'll second peckham pulse, in my opinion nicer than the east dulwich one, but that was because it looked old, I presume the refurb will spruce it up.
  17. mother goose, greendale fields
  18. Does seem like it's got a little bit off topic, With regards to breech babies, I found out my son was breech the day that my waters broke, it was a bit of a shock as up to that point I had no idea. I think had I known before I would have tried to have had him turned although I have heard that this is not always effective and very painful especially in the later stages of pregnancy. I think with many pregnancies even with all the planning in the world sometimes things just don't go according to plan. I was very upset at the initial thought of having the c-section, again as this was not what I had expected. I was offered the possibility of having a natural birth with special doctors, but felt that I did not want to attempt a long labour to then end up having a c-section anyway. It also turned out that he was a big baby again not detected so a c-section might have been a strong possibility anyway. Having the actual c-section was totally fine, it doesn't feel the best and I was scared, there was a moment once he had been delivered and taken away to be weighed etc I remember lying there feeling emotionally and physically numb whilst I was sewn up. But my husband and I still laugh about the moment the doctors held up this little baby above the screen and how funny he looked. He was shown straight to me and put on my chest, my husband then went with the nurses to get him cleaned up. But the human body is amazing and for the severity of the operation you actually start to function pretty quickly. It's hard in the hospital having to ring the bell to get someone to pick your baby up for you, but even that is shortlived. You do find yourself doing the c-section stoop in fear of standing up straight which in hindsight I laugh about with other friends who've had c-sections. I hope everything goes okay for you, whatever ends up happening, if there is one things that is certain is that your baby will be coming out.
  19. Exactly that is precisely the point, as long as I can give my son a safe and loving environment that is the most important, but there are sooooo many different ways of doing things that it's confusing without always taking into account individual circumstances.
  20. Why is it that there is so much guilt and feeling inadequate involved in having children these days, from the beginning you are made to feel that you are doing things wrong, why do they not sleep through the night at 10 weeks why do they not eat everything you put on their plate why so they not talk as much as their peers is it better to breast feed or bottle having a natural birth versus a c-section is your child potty trained at 10 weeks, 1yr or 2yr or 3 is sending your baby to nursery a bad thing did you do the nct or the nhs sessions the list is endless, I'm sorry if this comes across as a rant, but I read so many things and sometimes I just feel that I'm a bit of a crap mum because I might not be doing things the right way.
  21. Can someone please enlighten me why I am finding it so difficult to get some one to fix my window cords. I have tried 3 people now and noone gets back to me. I had made an appointment with one who then failed to get back to me, I then called another who then failed to get back to me, the first one I got as far as paying a deposit but they deemed the job so unimportant that it never got done. Now I am not talking about 1 little cord here, it's 6 windows!!!! So for everyone out there who is worrying about their jobs or who may have been made redundant it looks like there may still be some jobs out there worth having. Oh and by the way if anyone knows of anyone else then please let me know. Thank-you

But equally if it is a dogsh!t 3 in one kebab, pizza and chip joint, surely it doesn't matter if it is open 24/7 with a 5 minute delivery time to anywhere in the borough. OK, so what we are saying here is that we would like a good quality pizza place that is open from about midday to late evening... Wow! Who'd have thunk it!?!???!?!?!???
  23. so is the verdict get rid of mrs robinson and replace with a pound shop? Oh but no marker pens.
  24. Well I've had a couple and it was great, people get too obsessed with the process and having a pretty small tube up your bum sorry if TMI, but today's diet contains a lot of stuff that doesn't really digest properly that a good clean out is cleansing. My skin was amazing afterwards, eyes really bright and I felt quite energised, I have had friends though who have felt quite emotional so I guess everyone if different. It's like a fresh start if you have been not looking after yourself too well. I would recommend going to a proper health place not just a beauty place. Let's face it if it's an embarassment factor, if you are a women who has a bikini wax, it's on a par with that for letting your inhibitions go but less painful.
  25. Actually Alethea's husband. I rarely post, but this is just mental! I cannot believe my eyes at this stuff!!! I cannot believe that in a society where you are supposedly innocent until proven guilty, these hoodlums can get away with this. It is unconscionable, immoral, nasty and bullying of the nastiest kind. Innocent or guilty, these tactics are at best dishonest and at worst Orwellian. Good grief, it is just a disgrace. I'm really and truly shocked. No right thinking decent person could condone anything about these episodes, far less the exorbitant amounts of money being talked about for the fines. Threatening to sell your car from under you is basically a car ringing operation dressed up as a public enterprise. This is legal TWOCing is it not? Sympathy to all of you. Especially the person who was picking up their newborn. This disgusts me completely, a very worrying misuse of our surrendering of personal privacy. Serious kudos to those who pursued and good luck to those who are pursuing. I know I'm going on a bit, but this is just unbelievable stuff.
