  1. Just to add I have more or less given up on the 42. Sunray Gardens is the first/second stop on the route and is subject to delays depending on where other 42 buses are. I now walk most of the time and only take a bus when raining or extra cold using the buschecker app on my iPhone to choose which bus and stop to go to. Best Z
  2. Hi Charger found for iPad near Delawyk Crescent- if yours please PM me with a description and to arrange to collect. Best Z
  3. 2010 I think. (okay so not new-new) from the March 2011 Ofsted: Little Fingers Montessori Nursery has been registered under current ownership since 2010 and was previously registered and established since 1991.
  4. Hi, Anyone have experience of this with the new owners? What do you thinkk? What are the fees like? We are looking at it for our son. Best Z
  5. Well in the long run it may be better that we don't get upset at the open invitation to apostasy that are the entry regulations for school such as St Anthony's. Those criteria are relatively easy to satisfy if determined and non-religious and their really bad aspect is that they effectively act to select pupils. Unless you are very religious it would just seem unnecessary to worry about getting a place given the improving quality of schools in the area. I cannot say I enjoyed going to a CB Primary School in Ireland when growing up. I note as others that equivalently good CoE schools have much less exclusionary entry requirements, e.g. go to Church once per year from any faith to qualify for a reserved place and a 50% community place availability for DVIS. There are reasons that are used to justify this exclusionary exclusivity re preserving Catholic identity but they don't make sense in modern Britain. Best Z

  7. Ah - should have added will be with baby in buggy for nursery drop-off at Denmark Hill. Walking won't work over the winter. Best Z
  8. Thinking of getting this bus for my new regular commute from the first bus stop at Sunray Gardens at about 9. Anyone have experience of how reliable it is? The p4 has been driving me nuts with long waits for a bus in the morning and it still leave to walk across Ruskin to get to king's. Being the first bus stop does it tend to leave on time? Best Z.
  9. Hi, Just to point out that "damnably rude" was used in reference to Loz's use of "..park wherever you *damn* well like..." 11. Loz: If you don't like trivial perhaps you should not read threads entitled "parent and child spaces in sainsbury's car park" - to be blunt, you were damnably rude in your reply to her without justification. *Thinks again* Why on earth is this thread in the "General" section rather than "Family Discussion"?
  12. M.P. and Loz: Perhaps, rather than complaining about someone posting whose mind is clearly not on the riots, you could allow normal life to continue/resume? She wasn't posting on the riot threads and your responses were ott, imo. Isn't the point that we want life to get back to normal asap? Z
  13. Hi dulwichbeekeeper - sorry but swarms of honeybees are dangerous. I was stung 242 times by one when I was 5...ran into it under a tree. Bees swarming in an urban environment like LL are a bad accident waiting to happen - they are not friendly, just bees looking for a new home and willing to defend their migrating queen by stinging any threats. Or as wikipedia states: "Encountering a bee swarm for the first time can be alarming. Bees tend to swarm near their hives or honeycombs, so if a swarm is visible then a nest is nearby. Swarms are usually not aggressive unless provoked, so it is important to keep a good distance from the swarm. If the bees feel threatened, they will use their stingers and release a pheromone to alert the other bees of the threat resulting in a large bee attack." Yes we need bees but let's not understate their danger and I emphasise that they are best avoided as when things go wrong it is very very distressing. Z
  14. Hi We have soya+milk allergy also with our daughter (20% of milk protein suffers have that also apparently) - the easter eggs I posted http://www.amazon.co.uk/Moo-Free-Dairy-Tasting-Easter/dp/B004ODM2Z0 are milk+soya free. You could also try Vegan Cupcakes Take over the world http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vegan-Cupcakes-Take-Over-World/dp/1569242739 for easy recipes where you can use canola/rapeseed oil and rice milk to make milk and soya free cakes, etc. Best Z
  15. Hi - ditto re milk protein for us - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Moo-Free-Dairy-Tasting-Easter/dp/B004ODM2Z0 is one solution. ed for awful spelling
  16. yes it has always been free.
  17. Cheers - sorry to hear about yours being stolen B-N.
  18. Hi, We are going to be commuting to scoot with my daughter using her maxi scooter - I think we can lock it up at the school but I wanted recommendations for the best way for it. I found this http://www.micro-scooters.co.uk/product/micro-lock/ Has anyone used one of these? It looks rather flimsy. Best Z

We are moving to north dulwich and thought I'd checkout some things on west dulwich forum - a common refrain seems to be check on east dulwich forum before you even ask a question. The boards are also really quite. You have considered merging East and West to have one forum? Z
  20. Have to echo the comments on Ludlow Thomson. My advice - if you are going with an estate agent get one with 24hr property management (or at least some sort of out of hours service - many property management sections run 9-5 mon-fri) and some sort of decent reputation, ask about the fees and read the contract carefully and try to negotiate down renewal fees and the like.
  21. Hi, To me it seems that this is a terrible, tragic event and all causes or partial solutions to avoid this happening again ought to be investigated. As you might guess, imho, James Barber was not out of order in his comments re Sainsburys. It is very hard to imagine events of such seriousness happening if that party was held in a much busier, better policed area, e.g. Lordship Lane or even in Camberwell Church Street. Sainsburys have frankly been destructively lax in their security and care of the area they manage, particularly the park but also the car park. Having such a large, badly managed area nearby helps no one and does seem to act as a focal point for gang related activity in the surrounding area, given the number of incidents around the shop and in the shop itself such as http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,392355,page=1. I suppose also, in this context, that having late night parties at the Hamlets also does not seem to be wise. Z
  22. Due to one of us working in education, we would like to find a (hopefully lower cost) nursery that operates 9-5 or 6 in school terms for our new arrival to go to after my wife returns to work after maternity leave. Can anyone recommend one? (We are near dog kennel hill school at the moment.) Ta Z
  23. "new gym equipment"? It has a gym now? Z
  24. Just being cynical but could it possibly have been a case of a driver selling the shed on and pretending that he delivered it? Cynically Z

Hi, I was wondering how the two week holiday suspension of the forum last year affected usage, new user rates and posting? Apologies if this has been answered eleswhere. Best Z
