  1. The same thing happened to me and I had slipped off the radar somehow. I waited all weekend till Monday wondering if anyone would turn up. In the end I had to ring them, they were very apologetic! I would ring every number you have got. Particularly if you are worried about anything. Midwives work all the time. Someone will come and see you. Best of luck. X
  2. They left about a year ago. The management were not too easy to get hold of then either!
  3. My children loved littlefingers. They were very well looked after and I was impressed by the food. They were very happy and still talk fondly of their time there.
  4. Www.multiplication.com the games are pretty cool!
  5. Just briefly. If you do not get your first choice then you are put on the waiting list for your first, second, third etc choice schools. There is a lot of movement as people may decide to send their child to private school, move house etc. And one child can be on lots of waiting lists. Also children are continually moving into the area as well, which can affect the lists, I think, if they move in very close to a school. So quite complicated really!
  6. My son was slow on the up take. We lead or carried him to the loo whilst he was virtually asleep every night, sometime between 9.30 and 11. Intermittently we stopped for 2/3 nights and then went back to lifting as we couldn't face changing beds at 3am. Eventually it all clicked sometime after 5 and a half.
  7. Weird. It totally messed up my phone I had to uninstal Google and reset factory settings. But I am not an IT person!!
  8. Wow. Don't press this link. I did and it opened 200 tabs in google!!
  9. A favourite of mine is http://www.hotter.com/gb/en/womens/womens-active/helium :)
  10. You could approach the Nursery and ask if any of his friends have nannies or au pairs that he could potentially go and hang out with as a nanny share. We do this for one morning a week, the two girls have a great time playing together in the morning and then go off to nursery in the afternoon. We were not sure how to work it out in the beginning but now it is set up the girls seem to really benefit from the friendship.
  11. I read, sang, told stories and did a lot of spotting and counting all sounding super happy and toddler focused!! He also liked playing with a big box, tearing up newspaper and thankfully seriously got into train sets, any obsession is a good thing!! :). Though I have to admit my baby had a lot of broken feeds. It does take multi-tasking to a new level. Though it does get better and now my two are best mates and play together endlessly.good luck.
  12. I had my curly hair cut there by Linda, it was a pretty straight forward cut but I was super pleased with it. My two children also had their hair cut by another stylist. I was very pleased with my sons, my daughters had a few more layers than I was hoping for but now it has grown out a little it looks great. I was a very happy customer, they were lovely, very reasonable and superb for what we wanted, which wasn't too fancy!!
  13. Is it just spelling you would like a text book for? You should be able to get a copy of they curriculum from the teacher. Most text books are pretty poor if followed in isolation and teachers are better off getting resources from a variety of sources. This looks like a pretty comprehensive website for spelling but I wouldn't do too many in a week, it might put them off!! Also start easy, there is nothing like succeeding to make you want to do more... http://worksheetgenius.com/wordlists.php
  14. We have a waterwheel, which is very popular. Similar to http://www.elc.co.uk/Sand-and-Water-Wheel/122811,default,pd.html that seems a bargain but there are also lots of other varieties on ebay. We also have a couple of cups and a watering can for an endless supply of drinks made in the cafe!!
  15. The website is http://www.eric.org.uk/Parents/potty_training . The problem my son had was that he understood what was expected of him but was not physically mature enough to recognise the signs. But for sure you will have a happy ending.. eventually!
  16. Hi, I really struggled potty training my son and he didn't get pooing until four and half. It was an awful process for both of us as I started too early and I kept going rather than having a break. He then developed a habit of retaining his poos as he so didn't want to use the potty which was a really hard habit to break and caused him lots of constipation problems. My advice to you would be to leave it as your son clearly seems not to be ready and is unhappy about the process. I would go back to nappies and wait until it can be a happier experience. It is my understanding that the nursery cannot insist he is potty trained and you should explain that you have tried everything but he is not ready. Certainly the lovely staff at my son's nursery did not have children themselves and thought that potty training can just but taught. I am sure some children can but definitely not all! I came across a really good website but I can't remember it but it is well documented that boys take longer and are not physically ready. One thing is for certain he will definitely be potty trained at some point but there is no point having a horrible time on the way. Talk about it loads with him so he knows what the deal is when he is ready. Don't worry about it as you will just upset yourself. Go with the flow and it will all happen but it may still take a while yet. My daughter potty trained and slept through the night at 2.5 my son is just about sleeping through most nights at nearly 6! Good luck and keep positive :)
  17. Lego have seen sense! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-28660069
  18. Email them a good few times before you speak as some of them find speaking English in that situation very difficult. I find it helps to tell them what to expect before you speak to them so they can prepare a little. For example, I would like to hear about your experiences with children or what your interests or why you would like to come to England. I think it is really important to get them to talk so you can get a feel for the sorts of people they are. The au pairs that have worked for me are the ones that either have friends or family in London already and are keen to make friends and socialise. I take a keen interest in what ages of children they have spent time with, which activities they do with children, whether they are fit and active, knowledge of preparing food and first aid, I tend to go for primary school teachers. My last round I had a short list of 7 and only two were possible for a number of bizarre reasons like they couldn't get the time right to speak or their microphone didn't work!! Good luck
  19. I found au pairs through, findaupair.com, eastdulwich forum (obviously) and an old au pair of mine found me lots of candidates through a Spanish au pair Facebook page bit I am not sure which one. Good luck
  20. I die a little inside every time my children get excited about Disney, particularly my daughter.
