Why. Because we're having a Halloween party on Saturday..
-
I know there is a whole other thread going on about whether kids trick or treat and I do not want to get into the whole debate about it but was wondering about when those who will be partaking will be putting out theor pumpkins to welcome all the little ghosts and ghouls.. With Halloween being on a Monday I thought that the bulk of the Halloween activity would be on the Saturday before so was planning to put my pumpkin out then and go trick or treating myself.. Would we be the only ones out there?

Right, it's saturday afternoon and I am off to the pub. I have my bugaboo, my very energetic 4 year old and my just walking 1 year old who is still very unsteady.. And of course I have my husbands credit card in the back pocket.. And I am 'yummy' so all boxes checked other than the fact I am a beer drinker rather than Chardonnay, really haven't been able to stomach wine since pregnancy!

Lewisham, Kings, St Thomas? How to make the decision...
craigy replied to Ellie78's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Pardon my terminology, PCT is not right but they are the same health authority of LSL (Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham) which gives the choice to move between them if need be whereas if you lived in say Greenwich you would be classed as out of area and they have the option to refuse you.. I really don't wish to get into a debate about this, was just trying to point out that there was some degree of choice -
Lewisham, Kings, St Thomas? How to make the decision...
craigy replied to Ellie78's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Post natal care is postcode led so shouldn't be a factor in deciding which hospital you have your baby in. If you live in ED you will be seen by kings midwives. After birth it is pretty normal for women to go to different address so there is a pretty foolproof system of referring postnatal discharges on to the correct hospital and it does not result in a delay in care. Birth is a very subjective experience and what people view as acceptable and unacceptable is very different with many dofferent variables at play so other peoples experiences are also not a good factor to base a decision on.... All 3 hospitals are within the same PCT so the option to change care in pregnancy is available. I have had 2 babies at one of the mentioned hospitals and had a great positive experience both times. -
Dulwich estates own the freehold and the lease is currently with Mitchells & Butler but is up for renewal soon (my husband used to be the regional manager for it with M&B a few years ago)

Thanks for the ideas... I think she is too old at nearly 14 months for baby sensory.. I think I have been to the all fired up one with my son who had no interest in it.. Is it one you have to get there early for because it gets really busy?

i know there are loads of threads on here about this but i cannot find them so please help me.. now that the 4 year old has started school the 1 year old finally gets to do a few things that she might like to do rather than follow around after a 4 year old and his activities but i am so long off the 'circuit' that i have no idea what is out there anymore... mainly looking for monday/ tuesday/ wednesday morning activities.. thanks, craigy

stopped bfing over a week ago and now have painful lump?
craigy replied to hellosailor's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Both times I gave up I got lumps and increasing pain around 7-10 days. Each time I just gently hand expressed to relieve the pressure and this did the trick each time.. To me it just seemed like the actual lactation had given up but this milk was just trapped there, it didn't stimulate any more milk and it all settled down afterwards... -
What did you wear when you gave birth?
craigy replied to Strawbs's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I had a cheap ?3 camisole type vest for each birth and a pair of knickers to protect modest for as long as possible then everyone who needed access to my belly got it easily and there was nothing flapping around me annoying me when I was feeling easily irritated.. Knickers came off when pushing for no 1 and in pool for no 2 and everything got chucked at the end as covered on blood, goo and vernix... Pj bottoms and vests for afterward, all from Sainsburys.. Best to remember post natal wards run at sub tropical temperatures.. I have never seen any point for any of these specific garments... -

Questions about formula and flight allowance
craigy replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I flew to the states in february from gatwick with 300ml of expressed breast milk, I set off all the alarms on the scanner and got a really nice guy who made me taste it and joked with us I should make my husband do it ( good plan I thought).. on the way back from the states I told them it was there but they didn't even bother to check it.. I guess it is pretty hit and miss but I did phone and email the airport beforehand and they said that baby milk was exempt from the security limits.. I kept the email on my ozone just in case I had any issues... -
Hooray he can sit himself up - oh no he refuses to sleep
craigy replied to reren's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Number 1 never did it but number 2 did. Would find herself in a sitting or crawling position then start crying as couldn't work out how to get back so we would go and lie her down and she would be so indignant about it and howl for anything up to an hour and a half in which time she would also have to be turned back another couple of times... Very frustrating and a phase that lasted a couple of weeks until she could do it herself and now as soon as I put her down she rolls over, sits up and that is how I leave her and she pretty much always goes to sleep on her front face down!! So frustrating though as when she started to do it she had literally just started sleeping through the night..... -
I have just driven myself and my kids from st thomas' to east Dulwich via camberwell grove, dog kennel hill and lordship lane and nothing happening.. Central London is very quiet, all police I saw were heading towards Brixton, people sunbathing by camberwell green, lordship lane has loads of traffic and all shops closed wih shutters down wherever possible... Here's hoping it is all a massive over reaction.....

According to eddie Nestor show they have just broken into tescos at top of rye lane!!!

When you say 'tolerant of children'- what sort of age do you mean? -
My son is in a nhs nursery and they too have been hiking their prices up over the last 18 months due to a reduction in nhs funding but I think this has only been around the 20% mark so it is happening all over.. It still remains cheaper then others around the ED area and opens at 7 so I can find nothing else that suits my shift work.. Just to add about Amott Road, they take 4 children from 2 and a half and the rest from 3 with a total of 20. It is term time only and is a fab little resource which is pretty under rated in the area. I have been on mat leave for the past year and my son has been 3 mornings a week as well as 2 full days in his other nursery and alwAys loved it. Their waiting lists tend to be quite short I think. The cheApest nursery in the area is the sure and firm foundation one on uplands road but I guess that is too far away for you but it works out at about ?36 a day I think (or was when I looked round it when it first opened)

Renata, if you're reading.. One o'c club
craigy replied to Fuschia's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Have to agree about how strange it all is. I haven't been to the 1 o clock club since all the works started as it just looks too much of a building site and doesn't have enough space to keep a 4 year old happy and a crawling 11 month old safe but walked past the other day to see the lack of fencing on the new play area and the size of what the old 1 o clock club will be... It seems that this could help to accelerate the end of the 1 o clock club for lots of us as will be very crowded packed into that tiny space and a little bit unpredictable with the water and forever opening gate.. Well done Southwark, another master stroke in children playground planning... Lambeth has much better facilities.. -
Last year they were open mon, wed and fri mornings in the summer holidays so probably true...

My 11 month old has always had little interest in breakfast and especially being spoon fed, I have tried all things and sometimes she eats something and other times she doesn't.. I like to think she knows what she is doing by now so leave her to it and she will be staving by 11.30 so has a huge early lunch.. Current breakfast is milk soaked raisin filled shredded wheats and dairylea on a crumpet plus bits of fruit.. My son was a huge breakfast eater and still is, she obviously is not...
