I was in a life/death situation a few years ago. I too waited long for an ambulance, and had to call them twice while in distress, being for them to hurry because I was home alone with my 7 year old child who was starting to panic from what she was witnessing, it is beyond terrifying to wait in the crevasse between life and death. I would have wanted some one like the nurse from the charity shop, Save the Children by my side. I saw the accident, I saw the look in the woman's face and recognized what she was going through. I went to the charity shop and asked Ellie Hazel out for coffee, just to thank her, just to let her know that her act of compassion is truly beautiful and there are many in ED who really appreciate what she did for the injured woman. What most of you don't know is that Ellie's compassion also went out to the taxi drive who she could see was in a state of shock. After the injured woman was taken away by the ambulance, Ellie's attention turned towards the driver. She's a true humanitarian! Thank you Ellie Hazel!

I witnessed Saturday's accident on Lordship Lane, it took the ambulance 25 minutes to arrive! Fortunately, Ellie Hazel, a volunteer at Save the Children happened to be working, she sat with the accident victim, comforted her while they waited. The accident was horrific. Ellie, who is a nurse, told me the details of the accidents yesterday when I invited her out for coffee. I treated her to coffee to show her how much I appreciate what she did for that70 year old woman. THANK YOU ELLIE!!!!

Funny, we were walking past the shop this morning and had a laugh, our jokes is that they sell things that have "fallen off the truck" -- stolen goods. The workers are like nothing you will come across at a charity shop, in fact, our experience at this shop has never been pleasant, we always feel like the workers are pushing merchandise, a bit like street hawkers. I too went online to find out about Clothes for Causes and nothing appears. If they were working on their website back in July (as stated above) why isn't it up yet? They've done nothing to assure the community that they are a legitimate charity.

Absolutely agree! We recently had our daughter's 10th birthday party at Captured on the Rye for a t-shirt making party with Lou, and it was totally brilliant. The girls each designed their own shirts, assisted hands-on with the actual screen printing, and went home with a very special and individualised party souvenir. A very memorable experience for all.

I'm very pleased to report that my daughter today had an absolutely wonderful experience getting her eyes examined by Dr. Ajeeta Patel at R Woodfall Opticians. The doctor was kind, sensitive, and patient -- everything that we could have hoped for -- helping our daughter to feel comfortable and informing her of what to expect every step of the way.

Your experience definitely corresponds to what others said in an earlier post similar to mine, which made it that much more disappointing to go there and feel so rushed. It was also frustrating to be told that there was no space in the examining room for two parents when there clearly was, including an extra empty chair. Perhaps it is down to the particular optometrist? Eager to know if anyone has had a good experience (for children) at R Woodfall ...

Hello, My 9-year old daughter needs glasses, and we're seeking any insights about where to find the most child-friendly eye exam in ED. We went to Paine and Hunter and felt very rushed, and the optometrist did not allow both parents to attend during the exam. We felt that he did not take the time to explain things to our daughter sufficiently, and in the end the outcome was not quite satisfactory. Any experience with R Woodfall Opticians? Thanks so much for any thoughts ...

In our experience with DKH over the last two and half years, Wayne Cooper is a fantastic presence in the school and would very likely be an excellent new Head Teacher, if given the opportunity. We're certainly confident that he will do a fine job in the interim.
