Brockwell park sand and water play area
Melihoople replied to Alx's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Apparently they turfed it last week as the sand was clogging the water system? Or is it budgets.. I thought the water was coming on this weekend though. -
Recent experience of Peckham Breastfeeding Cafe
Melihoople replied to Arnieberger's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. It is such a Shame as the Peckham bf cafe had a 10 year history of being The place to go. It was in the last 18 months under gone a change, when Kings had a reorganisation & pulled all their specialist midwives and no longer provide community support. It has I believe been taken on by the council. Guys & St Thomas provide specialist support in their patch and increased this see https://www.facebook.com/Lambethmilkspots/ They update daily. But do feedback as it's so important those early bf problems get treated with the urgency. Feedback always helps & gives support to how needed this service is. -

Easter Monday lunch (with under 6's)
Melihoople replied to bawdy-nan's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Roccas is re opening this weekend. They had an electrical fire the other week. They are very child friendly and reasonably priced. The Florence we got the impression were now teething to minimise the children. -
North dulwich station temporary steps - does anyone know?

I really hope so - it must be one of the most inaccessible stations in terms of mobility. -
North dulwich station temporary steps - does anyone know?
Melihoople replied to Melihoople's topic in The Lounge
It will be from April to June - which means I will have to change my daily commute as carrying a buggy up and down 3 flights of stairs won't be achievable for me...sob sob! I wouldn't mind if they were working out a way to put lifts in.. -
North dulwich station has steps and a bridge that has just been built half way down the platform. Currently not in use and not connected to anywhere. When i asked the station guy he was his usual helpful self and suggested repairs which would mean walking over the bridge to access the platform affected. This would make north dulwich unusable for my parents. I can just do it with a pram but not adding in 2 more long steep flights of steps. Worried i need to start finding a different route to work... Does anyone know any more?

Meningitis B and Chicken Pox vaccines
Melihoople replied to tarafitness's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Saffron That is my take on CP vaccine too. Its been part of the general childhood programmes for the last 25 yrs in the US, Canada, Japan amongst others. Is very well studied. I'm also old enough to remember a time when you had to purchase the mumps vaccine privately & the discussions that were had then. :) -
Chickenpox - if vaccinated can you be infectious?
Melihoople replied to devsdev's topic in The Family Room Discussion
After the first dose of vaccine you are 85% effectively protected against CP. (With the booster dose that rises to 98%.) Fingers crossed your husband has had it. But those are good odds. -
Wow! Just 23% response rate... They need better comms.

Melihoople replied to MirandaS's topic in The Lounge
Total disaster!! How can this be happening -
The close caboo is the only one that will say it's safe from that weight. But as others have said email Emily at south London sling library. She's ace and will get back to you quite quickly.

Car recommendation for 3 under 4yrs
Melihoople replied to Melihoople's topic in The Family Room Discussion
That is useful thanks -
Looking at up-grading the car, currently our oldest is in a kiddy guardianfix. Would most like to use the maxi cosi pebble + iso fix. We have a double buggy which would need room too. Which car is going to fit 3 big car seats and still have room for double buggy and isn't a bus? Is it possible?

As a family with young children i want to see proposals for better public transport links not into and out of town but criss cross. I use the whole of the local area and visit family friends. I can't get between west, east, north, village, Camberwell, peckham rye, Crystal palace, west Norwood. Often to make these journeys it takes 10 mins by car. But a 3 bus never-ending journey on public transport... How could i afford todo that regularly or afford the time it takes.
