What a horrendous experience! So sad to read these kinds of posts, the guy is a huge danger to society and needs to be locked up. I know police are overly stretched but this guy is a serious danger, and possibly linked to other attacks earlier in the year which another poster posted above. Hope Mrs Boris and family are ok. I?m so upset for you and your child. Awful.

Happy SPD! I was pleasantly surprised by my kids coming back from school, sticking on an Irish song and doing Irish dancing! Such a joy to watch!

Thanks, ah, yes the operative word being MAY give you a fright...I sort of see your point, but its just a bit of silly humour for the target market (kids ages 3-6) would get a giggle from. Nothing to do with negative body images.

Here's the final copy rework :) Also the Metro has published an article now about the campaign to raise funds for the NHS too. It would be great if people could get behind it. The NHS Charities Trust have an urgent Covid Appeal running and my book is trying to help them. https://metro.co.uk/2021/03/11/man-writes-kids-book-about-lockdown-in-fathers-memory-to-aid-nhs-14214957/

Agreed. Thanks very much :)

Just an update for those who may be interested, I've had a couple of DM's about this and I've decided to go without showing the bum, whilst I think seeing the bum would be funnier, its probably safer and better to cover it. Thanks anyway.

Hello, I'm a local new author of rhyming children's bedtime books. I love reading books to my own kids during the bedtime routine and was inspired to write my own. (Julia Donaldson being my favourite kids author) But I have a question and just wanted to please get a consensus of peoples views here as a lot of people on the EDF are parents of young ones themselves. So my second book is in development, it's about a curious child who wonder's why he has to wear underpants but fruit don't...a bit whacky - I know! So previous page text is: "You may ask, is that fair... That I have to wear underpants but not a pear?" Page in Question: "True says mom, that doesn?t sound right? But a stranger seeing your bum may get a fright" What I would like to know is if the attached image (currently a sketch) would be acceptable/appropriate in a child's bedtime book (aged for 2.5 -6 years old). Or would it be better to have the mom covering the child with a towel? I know this could open a can of worms, so please be gentle... Hopefully it will make sense in the attached sketch... Thanks very much Ric https://www.rbbooks.co.uk/

Thank you so much, that?s ver kind! Hope you and your kids enjoy the book. Feel free to DM with any feedback if you wish. Thank you again. Regards Ricardo

Hi, I?ve signed it too :) Hope it works out for you -
Hello! At the end of last year, my dad (who was a self-published author) sadly passed away from Covid and like many others I saw what the NHS has to go through, and I decided I wanted to help. Having loved reading bedtime stories to my own children, I was inspired to publish my very own first children?s bedtime book. It?s a book about lockdown life told through the eyes of a young girl with a message of hope for the future. Printed in the UK, the book is both dedicated to my dad and the NHS - so much so that I will donate ?1 for every copy sold to NHS Charities Together (charity no: 1186569). A magazine has agreed to publish a small piece on it in the ?What We?re Loving Section? so it?s very exciting so I hope we can raise some good funds. I hope to do a book signing at some point in Dulwich Park too, when normality resumes. But for now, my book is called ?Oh No, Not Another Lockdown!? (yes we can all relate right? 😉) and it is a funny rhyming bedtime book for toddlers and young children. It?s available for ?5.99 exclusively at https://www.rbbooks.co.uk/ with ?1 of that being donated, so it?s a very worthy cause. I hope (as I actually lived in ED for many years, and now just a stone?s throw away) that the good people of ED will help support the cause. And tomorrow is World Book Day, so happy book day too! There are more details on the website, but I?ve attached a few teaser pics, some never been seen before including one which all parents who are home schooling will appreciate. So thank you very much Regards Ricardo Bertora Author Oh No, Not Another Lockdown! - https://www.rbbooks.co.uk/products/oh-no-not-another-lockdown Coming Soon: Apples, Ants & Underpants - https://www.rbbooks.co.uk/blogs/news/apples-ants-underpants-coming-soon

Ian, I listed all the benefits I could, and the drawback, people are free to make up their own mind. If ppl do switch, they will do so for saving money for themselves and going green to help the planet. If as an added benefit, u can get some credit, what?s the harm? As I started my post: they emailed me an email showing how good my carbon footprint is, I was impressed and decided to share the love. If more ppl join for cleaner energy what is the harm? If the credit is an added incentive for more ppl to go green, what is the harm???
-
I want to highly recommend this company in my own personal experience and also advocate for cleaner energy. This week I've just received this email from my Green Energy provider called Bulb Energy which is great to see especially for the environment: ?Ric, you're a climate change hero! By being with us, You're saving 3,085 kg of CO2 every year. That's the weight of an orca. Which is equivalent to planting 1,543 trees. With over 950,000 members, our community is saving 1.4 million tonnes of CO2 each year. That's like planting 722 million trees!? On top of that, I think are cheapest provider I found last year?and I still think they are cheaper than the big companies?and if you use my own link to join them: they will credit you ?50 on your account: Benefits: 1. They will pay your exit fee up to ?120 to switch to them 2. They provide 100% green electric and 10% of GAS is green energy 3. You can leave when you like, no exit fee with them 4. Their rate is very competitive, if not cheaper than most, certainly better than the big 6 5. Get ?50 credit when you join with my link: bulb.co.uk/refer/ricardob1020 6. They are a modern company, so dealing with them is easy, and they want to bring cheaper, greener energy to the masses. Drawbacks: 1. The rate is variable, so they did raise prices once in my 9 months at the time all the other energy companies raised the prices a lot. The raise was only ?0.55 per month and communicated this to me well in advance. Having said that, they lowered my standing cost a few months shaving off ?15 a year, so actually I would say really, no drawbacks. I?ve been with British Gas, Npower and EDF, but in my opinion, Bulb are modern, easy to deal with, and very communicative in terms of emails they send. Things to Note: 1. I live in a flat, so have electricity only, not Gas. 2. I will also get a credit if you use my link, but feel free to check them out for yourselves. But I think just switching to green energy is of most benefit to the environment, and they fact they are doing it cheaper than others, it just makes total sense...in my humble opinion. Switching only takes a few mins, and you could be saving and helping the planet, so worth having a look. Website: www.bulb.co.uk Here?s my referral link again which you must click to take you to the join link if you join without clicking this link, neither gets out credit: bulb.co.uk/refer/ricardob1020 Thanks Ric

Besides seeing whats going on the EDF, I recently finished making a silly (not to be taken too seriously and hopefully funny!) parody Trump video. If that takes anyone's fancy, you can see it here: (Warning, it does contain adult humour and a naughty word, so best not to play in earshot of children)

Job offer - do I take it? I have tax concerns...
RicB replied to brookeb's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
LOL, no one spotted that they mention ?42K NET to ?48K NET... By definition, net means AFTER tax, so clearly they would be ?6K better off after tax, so they wouldn't have to ask the question in the first place! Agree with RendelHarris about it being a spam...or possibly an experiment... But to answer the OP's question, No don't take it ;) -
Look after our teenagers. Another mugging....

How awful, this has just hit the press today, police upping their patrols after several children targeted by robbers: https://www.southwarknews.co.uk/news/police-up-patrols-in-dulwich-after-schoolchildren-targeted-by-robbers/ Also, well done to Bryan, a really nice thing to do. -
In the interests of sharing and caring, I've just joined Bulb Energy this week, switched as my contract with a big 6 was coming to an end. I can highly recommend them for several reasons: 1. They were by far cheaper than my old provider (and I always check for the best rates around) 2. Their electricity is all GREEN energy, gas they say is only 10% green. But given most people are environmentally conscious now, you have a great opportunity to go all green on your electric bill 3. They handle the switching process and switching takes less than 2 minutes on their website 4. They say they will pay your exit fees with your current provider 5. They have no exit fees, so if you don?t like, you can leave at any time What?s more, if you use my friend referral code below, you will get a ?50 credit to your account for joining, and so will I. So if they are cheaper than your current provider, you have loads of reasons to switch. Mr referral code (paste this into your browser to get ?50 credit when you join): bulb.co.uk/refer/ricardob1020 This is their tariffs for Elec and Gas (based on one SE22 Post Code, so rates may vary in surrounding areas): Supplier: Bulb Tariff Type: Variable (if you are worried about rate increases in future, you can switch with no exit fee) Payment Method: Direct Debit Electricity Unit Rate: 11.949p per kWh Electricity Standing Charge: 24.56p per day Gas Unit Rate: 2.835p per kWh Gas Standing Charge: 24.56p per day (?89.64 per year) Dual Fuel discount:?30/year Exit Fees: None (they don?t believe in exit fees) I appreciate for some people it may not be worth to switch, but I?m sure this would be worthwhile for a lot of people currently paying more than they should. Happy switching to those of who it may be of use. Remember, just paste the below link into your browser to get ?50 credit when you join: bulb.co.uk/refer/ricardob1020 Thanks Ric

I said IMAGINE if aliens did the same to illustrate a point. Imagination isn't necessarily based on facts. Looks like your judgement is 0/3. Oh dear, still early days, but looks like a trend is developing.

red devil Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > > You've been watching too many Pixar/Dreamworks > movies... Wow, what a great informative and witty comment based on facts no doubt. Though for you to make such a comment suggests you have also watched the same said movies. However, in your need to feel validated as a funny, witty guy (that you, erhm, clearly are by the way), you missed the real important points of the post. Guess I shouldn?t be too surprised; there was a story this week of the UK?s education dropping down the league tables. Also, EDLove?s post has just showed you have poor judgement so let?s just put it down to that and let bygones by bygones eh? :)

I think peoples mindsets need to change; a fox is a poor creature trying to do its best in its environment. Like us, it gets hungry (but has less options than us, it can?t just pop to Sainsbury?s and spend its nectar points). They have families, and babies that they try to care for. I understand that yes they can make a loud noise at night and they can deposit on your lawn, but the poor fox is just doing his business when the need arises, he doesn?t have a convenient toilet to go sit on, nature is his toilet. What gives humans the right to think they have more right to life than another animal? Because we are superior? Because, we are smarter, or we can wipe out any other species in our way for our own selfish needs? When I was a kid, I used to kill ants in the garden, for nothing more than because I could, how ignorant I was. Now I am saddened by those actions - just because I could squish them with my finger doesn?t mean that the ant didn?t feel pain or die a horrible death or was missed by his colony. Imagine if an alien race came here and did the same to us. Foxes are usually quite timid and lets not forget they are related to dogs and people keep dogs (and cats for that matter) because it gives them joy and pleasure. Seeing a so called ?wild? animal in an urban environment should be classed as a treat. Those that feed foxes over time develop a bond with them (as Peckham Rose and DulwichFox?s posts suggest) and I?m sure they find it a rewarding experience that brings them joy. Perhaps if more people tried it, they would also enjoy a magical experience between man and animal. Heck people splash thousands of pounds on safaris for that very reason. Instead of demonising the poor animals who are just trying to exist, people should try be more tolerant and sympathising. Fox family?s in Dulwich probably go back more than most current residents, so in that sense humans invaded their space first. Now if there is a valid argument against making them totally dependent on humans is another matter. It?s probably a very complex answer depending on individual situations, but remember a fox is a resourceful creature, he will get to work to find food if the need arises. For example, when a human is hungry and goes to their cupboard and if they see the cupboard is bare, they then look in the fridge. Same with the fox, they will look elsewhere. I very much doubt the fox will say to himself, I am now tamed, so I cannot go catch a mouse.

Interesting, I just found this post on the EDFF (the East Duwlich Fox Forum). Post by Mrs Fox Last night I was wandering about near my house that my family has been for generations when some human came out and shone a bright light straight in my eyes. Blinded, I stood there in terror. Next thing I know she was trying to throw water at me and scare me away. I know there has been a problem with humans everywhere in London, the humans have mercilessly slaughtered our ancestors, shot us, set dogs on us, destroyed our natural habitat, built constructions over our homes, throw things at us, run us over with their cars etc. Everyday, I can hear them making a large ruckus, but have to just accept that we all just have to get along. I am grateful to some humans who show kindness and compassion to us by feeding us from time to time. Thank you to those people.

Well respect to Rosalind for actually going out and trying to make things happen and I wish you all the best.
