Oh how I WISH I had searched her name on here before getting her to do our cleaning. She had responded to a post I put on here and I just booked her. Silly me. I had originally booked her for domestic cleaning but later told her I needed a post build heavier clean. After explaining all that I needed done, she said she didn't have time to do all of the work. I then asked if she could still come for the 3 hours anyway and just clean the new extension upstairs, to which she agreed and explained she cleans with someone else so it's 1.5 hours but double the man power. She arrived with 2 other young ladies. She spoke in English to them but they weren't English themselves. I showed her what I needed done. The rooms were unfurnished and needed wiping down, floors cleaned, bathrooms cleaned and all cupboards wiped down. There was dust from the decorating but it was manageable with wiping down. She then went on to say this wasn't regular cleaning and she never charges ?10/hour for what I was asking but that they would get on with it anyway. However I had made it clear to her previously what I had wanted done in terms of cleaning the extension. She said she wasn't going to clean because she had hurt her back and that's why she had 2 girls with her. I asked them to clean the windows if there was time left. But she said there wouldn't be time. They finished after one hour and when I questioned what they were going to do for the remaining half an hour, Sandra told me it's ?15 per hour for the sort of cleaning they've done and there was 3 of them doing it! (Thought you had a bad back?!) I argued that it was clear what was required from Them when I booked her and that she never mentioned a higher cost for cleaning after the builders. But she wouldn't back down. My baby was starting to cry in his bouncer and I didn't want to get into an argument in my home. So just gave her the money and they left. There's still dust in all of the rooms and in the corners. The floor was moped over very quickly and not really cleaned. The bathroom tiles are still dusty too. So I'm not sure what ?15 per hour rate covers?!! I've been completely ripped off and as people say, the girls didn't look too happy either. More fool me for not checking up properly.
  2. Well it certainly seems that Billy Hunter is the best heating engineer around and I can vouch for that by adding yet another top review. We originally had Billy round in 2015 to quote for a new boiler installation. We then had to delay him last minute as our loft conversion plans changed the placement of the boiler. He then came back to help us, almost a year later and worked incredibly efficiently, quickly and was very tidy - A complete and utter contrast sadly from the service we were receiving from the builder we had on site for the conversion. Billy's professionalism and politeness are second to none and it makes it a real pleasure having him around. He is very honest and reliable too and completes his work to the highest standards and with competitive pricing as well. I also used him to instal a new boiler at my let flat. It took him less than a day to remove the old boiler, install the new one perfectly, fix a new flu pipe and make good the brickwork in the exterior wall (which was in a very difficult location!)& fix a new thermostat dial to the hallway. My tenants were not disturbed at all as it all happened whilst they were out at work, so I had no stress from them not having hot water or heating. The flat was left spotless afterwards and everything put back in it's rightful place. The only downside to Billy's popularity is that he is a very busy man! But do give him a call straight away if you have any heating needs: 07986 296453
  3. Thanks so much for organising Donatella. See you at the Plough on the 20th. Looking forward to it.
  4. Thanks for putting dates forward Donatella. Both August & September dates are good for me! Jen x
  5. Hi there mums to be! I'm due on 12th December and this is our first Bambino. Can't wait. Would love to meet up and compare prego notes with you all. Morning sickness has now gone, THANK GOD. Clutching on to a bottle of water and rich tea biscuits on my commute wasn't a great look. Kimp, I've signed up to NCT, starting in late October. All of my friends have recommended it. Can also pay in instalments to spread the cost which I've found really helpful. Look forward to chatting with you all Jen x
  6. Wondering if anyone can give more up to date experiences of giving birth at Kings? I'm having my first baby and have started community midwifery care locally then will have separate Kings midwives at the hospital for the birth. I am worried about consistency of care, understanding and support. But have found most of the previous posts reassuring about the level of care you receive at Kings. Ideally I'd like to use one of their birthing rooms but of course will come down to whether they are free at the time and if the birth is straightforward. Any recent experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated! Many Thanks
