Very agressive door to door sales man
Ruskin replied to DulwichFox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Definitely report him. The habitual Dulwich/Wandsworth burglar who was recently arrested was selling this stuff. Even if he wasn't offending at the time, it needs adding to local police intelligence. -
Burgled last night (31st May 2019)

Definitely the same fella so hope he's already been reported. But what's more significant is he's seen with the box of cleaning products which he clearly uses as a cover for looking in properties. -
Dog bite in Ruskin Park this morning
Ruskin replied to Vanessa3's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Sorry to hear this. As a park runner I've learned to give very wide berths to dogs I calculate are going to chase and leap at me - which has happened many times - and, frankly I now distrust all dogs off leads. More often though, dogs routinely run across my path and with a combination of their solid body mass and my momentum, have had me flat on my face (so far, luckily on grass) when on one occasion an owner had no concern whatsoever about my welfare. I know some of the Ruskin Park's dog walkers and while most are considerate and polite, some seem to think their importance there rises above all others. Don't let them spoil your enjoyment of park running! -
Barry Road paint markings everywhere

SGN, the gas provider has its subcontractor JDT updating mains cables in SE24. Could be them. Or could be any other Utility. Either way, prepare for pits in pavements and barriers - and potentially, gas leaks resulting in temporary cut-offs. -
I suspect the OP is referring to old cine cameras, rather than SLRs that take rolls of film.

Is this not the same damage that has occurred on other occasions during the build? If so, I think it happened on at least twice requiring the rendering to be redone.

We have a large male that comes over the fence, more regularly these last few weeks. At first we thought he was looking for another den and because there's no overgrown areas nearby it didn't occur to me he was coming over to us on his recce route. So then I discovered that a bottom shed panel had been ripped away causing a lot of damage to one corner and given the strength needed, I'm pretty sure of the size of animal to do this. He's a beautiful, healthy animal trying to make it in a challenging urban habitat but I won't be feeding him. Instead I've been going out making a lot of noise to make him unwelcome. I've bodged the shed panel but assume he'll try again and maybe at that point my patience will wear a bit thinner although I have no intention of hurting him - even if I could.

Aggressive door to dooor cleaning product sellers

Not sure if you're referring to my post of this morning, but if so - no, I never see anyone unloading a bike and pedaling away. They're always of foot and I suspect (without absolute proof) that they're walking across the park to Denmark Hill station.

Just to add my tuppenceworth about CPZs. I'm not in the ED catchment but do suffer from Lambeth's CPZ that was imposed some years ago. My permit has climbed from the original ?85 to the now ?184 (5 year-old petrol hatchback). On the day I paid this year's permit I discovered that station commuters are now parking in our road all day despite the consultation being accepted only if there was a 12.00-2.00pm pay time. But what they do now is leave the car in our road early morning, pay for parking at mid-day via the app then return late that day. They're not allowed to park directly outside the house in the designated residents' bay but do so anyway after 2.00pm so that if I make a quick trip to Sainsbury's mid-afternoon, the road is still chockablock and often someone in my spot outside the house. So, ?184 for my permit to park outside my house and I'm STILL not able to park outside the house.

I've just seen a driver turn right at Champion Hill, mount the kerb and squeeze through the narrow cycle lane right in front of three Southwark engineers. People, there's a camera right opposite watching for this! Pictures show the junction opposite the UCL Halls and the sign on Dog Kennel.

Car broken into - what are they after?
Ruskin replied to loubelou's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'm not saying you did yourself - but as long as people leave the smallest of possessions on view, there will be chancers sniffing around in cars. Having a rifle around cars and houses is their way of life. The Met can print a million leaflets about locking your car but if we choose to ignore the advice, what's the blimmin' point? -

How awful for you. We had to euthanise our cat last year so cannot imagine how it's for you. But sorry for not knowing how to react to a found and distressed animal.

Have those passports reported stolen/cancelled as a matter of great urgency. -

Oh no, not another one! More filming in Therapia Rd
Ruskin replied to FredCasa's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Oh dear the Meldrews, your street appears to be a favourite haunt of a Location Scout or two. If you identify who that is (from a member of the crew) you might be able to vent your frustrations and suggest they look somewhere else as you find it too disruptive. Not that it'll make much difference but you'll at least let them know it's unpopular. -

Just what I was thinking. I'd love to know how they're being training for these manoeuvres. We'll have to wait for the next series of Rams on Camera. -
I see that the tree at the Village crossroads (opposite the schools) has been taken down by tree surgeons this morning. Was it diseased/unstable - and, seeing as its days before Remembrance Sunday, what of the memorial to the young Welsh Guard, Mark Evison? https://www.londonremembers.com/memorials/mark-evison Are there plans to reinstate the memorial and perhaps plant another tree?

Our shakes come from lorries (skip lorries mostly the culprits) banging over the speed hump near our house on Ruskin Park. The vibrations travel along the walls and wobble my screen.

Help! Local BT exchange issues preventing internet access
Ruskin replied to JaneB's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Oh dear, when the thread about the site occupation started I feared there would soon be a post about the loss of connection via that exchange - and my fears have been realised. Honestly? As Tractorlad posted, do yourself a favour and stick to BT as Virgin are wholly unreliable. And who knows, perhaps BT might allow you more 4G allowance while the issue continues to wreck service? Always worth a call.
