  1. 'When they get on the career ladder I will consider it money well spent' must be the saddest comment I have ever read on this forum.
  2. The schools are both generally very good and similar. The difference is that Goodrich comprehensively won the parents cricket this year, proving they are slightly better.
  3. not really litter if on a tree, the mural is neither lovely nor ruined and hasnt made the highstreet an eyesore. a whopping crowd nearly three thousand, great job poster maker.
  4. Does anyone know if anyone from any local schools has been fined for taking holidays during term time?
  5. To try and get something of value out of these 7 pages. Where locally would be a good place to start teaching a 9 year old to ride on the road? (in the day with a hi vis etc obviously)
  6. Should we stop all cancer awareness campaigns because they don't actually stop the cancer? Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't a main part of cancer awareness campaigns either to get early diagnosis to help stop cancer or to raise funds to help stop cancer, or to change behavior (e.g. smoking) to stop cancer. So not really relevant imo
  7. Shame when a genuine concern for road users has > turned into a cyclist versus motorist debate. If there is genuine concern then shouting at them isn't productive and neither is posting on a forum
  8. Just because there are other (arguably) more important precautions, doesn't mean you shouldn't use a light. Just because our cycling infrastucture is behind many other cities, doesn't mean you shouldn't use a light. Just because cars pose more of a danger than bikes, doesn't mean you shouldn't use a light. I agree Jeremy. However just because others dont have a light does not mean you should break their concentration by shouting at them, and break your concentration at the same time if you are an unfit cyclist travelling at speed. You claim my point is diversionary but I think it is central to the argument. All groups concerned are happy to criticise others and not look closer to home where they may be at fault. If everyone was really concerned for everyone else then they would find ways to help others in the community. i dont think shouting at a young cyclist is productive and posting it on a forum has close to zero likely benefit. I am sure the cyclists in question were aware of the extra risks they were taking for whatever reason but felt the risk was worthwhile to them, and unlikely to pose much risk to anyone else.
  9. concentration, fitness and speed more important to cycling safety than a light on the back
  10. Travelling at speed downhill in a badly lit section of road you should be concentrating not shouting at the other cyclists so loud that it may have disturbed local residents. How could this have helped the young cyclist? You do not sound very safe to me and therefore think it harsh you judge the other cyclists without knowing their full circumstances.

    Good lines...

    Was it successful?
  12. I am also very concerned that despite their self confessed lack of cycling prowess the opening poster admits that they were cycling late at night, at speed,on a badly lit road. the opening poster sounds very dangerous to me and not really in a position to judge others.
  13. If the opening poster cared for the safety of the child on the bike then they shouldn't have shouted at them. Such distraction could be potentially lethal.
  14. I would expect better spelling in the title from a Dulwich education so presume DVL is less Dulwich Lady and more JCL.
  15. also failed on the Belgium/Belgian, nice should probably have been 'interesting' or 'surprising' and 'who it is' would have been preferable.
  16. Apologies dont want to start that again. having a bad day
  17. Nice to see the Dulwich Hamlet flag in the crowd with the Belgium fans v Algeria. Anyone know whose it is?
  18. At an airport everyone crowding around the luggage carousel so that no one can get their luggage easily or see when if everyone just took one pace back it would be easy for everyone. What is irrational is quite how furious it makes me everytime, even though I know it will happen and doesnt really delay you much.
  19. cant use twitter do you know the result for college ward? thanks
  20. If its three then creep, ace of spades, bat out of hell
