  1. Hi, Does anyone know what the old betting shop is going to be that is opposite M&S Food at East Dul station? I've not managed to find any info and it's looking interesting. Thanks!
  2. I've actually found they've improved. You can also book appointments online (thought I've not tried it yet). You do need to phone at 8am, there isn't much point in phoning later in the day as they've used up all their slots for the day - they'll tell you to phone the next morning. The 3 times I've rung in the last 6 months or so I've got through after a short wait (yes it's a phone queue but we know it opens at 8am so you just get in early if you can and I just carry phone around ringing on speaker til it's my turn). Then once they take your details a Dr will phone you back (so far usually within 2 hours, usually faster). They'll either do something over the phone then and there (which I had, a physio referral, and a re-issue of medication previously prescribed). Or they will make an appointment for you to physically come in (again, usually that day). I find that as a Dr is calling you - they have the medical training to triage you and put you in for an appointment or not. I think it's working well.
  3. I'm running the raffle for Bessemer Grange Primary school, proceeds to the PTA charity where all funds go to the school. If the local workers don't take it all it would make a good prize, thanks.
  4. While I sympathise (I have lived through it multiple times over the last couple of years, next door and next door but one even simultaneously(!)) it is something that can happen at any time and will cause disruption regardless. Who knows how long many people will have to wfh but other things need to continue. Granted it's more disruptive to you now that you are working from home but some people have either always worked from home or been home off work or with a new baby etc. I had 2 sets of building work, one with each baby (when they were having 2 naps a day) but didn't get the builders to stop at set times or anything - the kids slept through it. Yes it's annoying but what can you do? Once it's done then it's done. I think the noise cancelling headphones might be a good call as suggested above. Also Sue's suggestion re the radio and getting that in the party wall agreement, wish I'd thought of that when we had loud music from nearby builders!
  5. Completely clear today when walking past. I've amended title of post to help.
  6. Thanks so much for keeping us posted!! For the question earlier re P13, I saw the hole was in middle of the road so the bus wouldn't have had space to turn in.
  7. Thx! If you notice it cleared I'd really appreciate knowing. Twice gone that way and then around so many streets to get back on track.
  8. When approaching the Copleston Rd end you can't exit Avondale at the end. No diversion signs and it's a very long way around!
  9. Re school. Yes you start the September after you are 4 so she would have just started Reception here last month. It's a very play-based year with learning and fun. If you have a late summer born you can apply to have them defer, they would then start Reception the following September. I know someone who deferred as premature twins born 29th August. Another August baby deferred but then he matured so much over summer he then joined school in the 2nd week (luckily there was space). Germany don't start til 7, everywhere is different. Legally here they don't have to start til they are 5 but majority go with the Sept after 4 intake as that's what the UK does.
  10. I just walked past an estate agents and saw a 4 bed house for ?3000k a month! So it will vary but hopefully ?2k is more like it for you. Re the commute, you can get the Overground from Peckham Rye or Denmark Hill to Shoreditch High Street and then it isn't that far of a walk to Old Street. (Or as said, London Bridge then Northern Line). Shopping can really vary as ours has shot up now we're all at home a lot more(!) but we can probably lower eating out budget at the same time. Family of 4 here and weekly shop can vary from ?80 to ?120 depending (occasionally buy kids clothes in supermarket so spikes up the cost). Childcare is pricey, you can try so may different options though to work out what is best. Childminder, Nursery, Nanny (or Nanny share to lower costs). We started with a childminder then nursery and it gets steadily cheaper as they get older so something to think about that you might have a larger hit initially. Also once they're in school that is a big chunk of spend you lose so it's only for a few years. Car - that is totally down to your lifestyle. Ours is mostly used for weekly shop and visits to parents (parent visits would be so much effort and longer by public transport). Prior to the car I used to have a pull along trolley and get the bus home from the supermarket so it's possible (but wasn't shopping for 4 then!). Houses - we are SE15 but 30 seconds from SE22 so you can try to get clever by being close to where you want but just outside. If you join "East Dulwich Mums" on Facebook you occasionally see people putting their properties on there before trying estate agents so you never know you could get lucky. From what I hear from friends in Oz it's pretty expensive there so hopefully you'll find you're going in the right direction!
  11. first mate Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The ambulance is past the red light but still > being held up. Thanks First mate, saved me typing, the lights were irrelevant here. Traffic was to station and to roundabout. It isn't like that all the time but much more often since planters. Also what's with all the multi coloured paint on road by planters, looks like all about to be dug up or changed again?
  12. Ambulance again. Must have taken ages to get thro
  13. Done. 105 now. Was in Dulwich Village earlier, no way for emergency vehicles there, at least we have that change here. Photos are from Thurs near Ondine Rd. Queues both ways and ambulance struggling to get through (on a road that leads to the hospital)
  14. tiddles Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So if an emergency vehicle has to get into Elsie > road (say an ambulance from kings) they have to > loop all the way round up east dulwich grove. Thru > probably stationary traffic This is what has surprised me the most. The barriers are drilled into the road, so no access for emergency services. I would be very concerned living on Elsie/Derwent/Melbourne and ever needing emergency help. I'm also interested re the comment on bin lorries - indeed how will they turn around, and if they have to reverse up and there are cars behind them that'll be fun!
  15. Pretty sure the roads off it haven't had the parking restrictions put in yet - so Ashbourne, Chesterfield etc if you can find a space.
  16. Awful on and off all morning Ondine Rd
  17. Back here too. Sue for me other providers as or more expensive but mainly it's because I have a TV box full of stuff I've recorded that I'd lose!
  18. KitKat how did you report? I can't get through on any channel
  19. Ondine Road out 3rd day in a row. 150 phone number says call back they are busy and website for checking problems fails. Catalogue of disasters.
  20. 3 cars had tickets issued today on Ondine in a very short stretch of road so wonder what whole road like!!
  21. Perhaps you can try to appeal - did you have a warning note? (though you could claim how were you supposed to see one on your car when you're sheilding and not going out). The signs did go up before lockdown though - they were covered in black bin liners which were taken off leading up to 31st March. I think you might have a chance to appeal, especially if you didn't get a letter or warning.... https://www.southwark.gov.uk/health-and-wellbeing/public-health/for-the-public/coronavirus/impact-on-council-services/coronavirus-parking-restrictions-and-controlled-parking-zones Parking enforcement changes from 26 May 2020 As more motorists are taking to the roads as lockdown eases, the council is slowly re-introducing some restrictions which were relaxed during the lockdown period: - we will begin issuing warning notices to vehicles parked in Pay and Display and Residents Bays from Tuesday 26 May 2020 - resident permits will not be recognised in neighbouring CPZs and residents must ensure that their vehicle is parked correctly within the zone where their resident permit is valid - housing estates continue to be enforced as usual to ensure continued access for waste and emergency services - vehicles are not being removed but a small amount of relocations may take place if they are causing an obstruction Parking enforcement changes from 3 June 2020 From Wednesday 3 June 2020 parking enforcement across the borough will resume and we will begin issuing Penalty Charge Notices for all contraventions. However, key worker virtual permits will continue to remain in place until 30 June 2020. Peckham West CPZ Parking enforcement in the Peckham West CPZ will follow the changes taking place from 26 May, however warning notices will be issued for a two week period. Penalty Charge Notices will be issued to vehicles found in contravention from Wednesday 10 June 2020. Residents are asked to follow the restrictions and ensure that they have a valid permit for their vehicle to ensure they do not receive a fine.
  22. We're on Ondine Rd and got a letter Jan/Feb time. Permits had to be bought before the start date of 31st March I recall. Long posts on here of people struggling to get their permits through but got there in the end. It apparently did start on that date but wasn't enforced, and then through the grapevine I heard it was going to start to be enforced 3rd June. I believe warning letters were supposed to come before fines as it's a new thing. The signs have been up on the lamposts for months showing there were restrictions coming. (I emailed them to ask if we'd all get an extra 2 months tagged onto our permits and got a no).
  23. Need something like this (from New Zealand). It's just so selfish, you carried it there full, carry it home empty! My kids when as young as 3 would point to rubbish and say "that should be in a bin Mummy" so it's not difficult to teach.
  24. Hadn't thought of that. Didn't notice my numberplate come up so either off or I was too busy looking at the queue
  25. It's 25 to 30 mins when queuing from the roundabout (based on 2 times last 2 weeks) Still no flour, often no eggs, pulses hit and miss. Rest seems OK
