Thanks everyone. Love eDF. I'm not brave enough to cycle to work and swimming always takes up too much time. I think exercise bike is the only way. That and a bit of a DVD early in the morning. I woke early this morning even with the clocks going back and thought I could probably make myself do it and get up early during the week... Famous last words.

Hello wonders of the Edf. I had my first child nearly 6 years ago, and had another 3 years ago and it's taken me until now to finally lose the weight. Now I'm desperate to get fit and toned before I hit the dreaded 40 next year. I have no time between a full time job, studying and the children etc (I know we all face it :-) and I'm not allowed to run because of wondrous childbirth damage (sorry, tmi).(I love running so I'm gutted). Any brilliant ideas? Something I can do in snatched times between waking and a shower at 6am and whenever else I can find time... Guess I could do a longer stint at the weekend if my husband agrees to look after kids.

I've got a 2.5 yr and a nearly 6 yr old and never get a chance to get to the hairdressers. I've tried to become Vidal Sassoon with fairly disastrous effects. Could anyone recommend a home hairdresser who'll come to cut their hair? For a reasonable price too? They have simple haircuts! Thanks

Any recommendations on where I could go with a laptop and a folder to study today? Need to get out of the house as even though husband is looking after kids, it's hard to concentrate when I hear them downstairs. I've tried having earphones in etc, but it's hard to stop a 2 and 5 year old from wandering upstairs if they're upset (my husband does try!) Just need to get out, concentrate, get it done and not be so stressed with it all. Any recommendations? Would likely need a plugpoint as battery won't last the day.

Well. It's been a hell of a year so far. And now, finally we were getting away for a week to France tomorrow, and we've just discovered that our daughters passport has expired. 3 days ago. I have no words. Has anyone had any luck before getting a child's renewal on premium one day service? We can't get through to the passport appointment number until tomorrow morning so we're assuming we can't get a same day appointment... does it take weeks? In which case I think I shall cry until 2014. :-( Any words of encouragement or hints or tips on how to sort this s**tstorm out very gratefully received. And please, don't point out our stupidity. We're completely gutted after the year we've had so far.

Hi Driving through France with two small kids and need to nightstop as journey 10hours. It's been years since I did this and I was young free and single so didn't care. I remember motel places like Formule 1... Are they any good now? Any other recommendations? Would need to be family room with cot as its with a 5yr old and a 2 yr old. Or are we better off going independent place? Whatever needs to be cheap, but ok. Many thanks

Keep your options open and take a look everywhere. My daughter got in at 4 but I think she was the only one who hadn't been at the nursery. I tried to get her in when she was 9months old but they didn't have space on the waiting list. We just got lucky i think. she happened to perform well at her 'playdate' where they assessed her (not like the Jaaps one where she'd been ill all night!) They told me mums had been putting names down at birth and even they had struggled. I didn't do it then as it all seemed too soon, So if the Villa is somewhere where you definitely want your child (and I'd highly recommend them) then go for it.

Thanks everyone. So far so good. We'll see how she feels in the morning. Or I guess with the frequency thing, she may get up in the night, which she never has before... But that urgency feeling is difficult to ignore I think. Thanks EdF ladies (and maybe gents?!). Happy new year.

It's only a cup of vinegar in a whole bath, but it neutralises some of the nasties. You don't notice it's there. Certainly worked for me in the past. Forgot about natural yoghurt, although is that more for thrush?

Happy new year everyone! Sorry to make a new year posting on the basis of a UTI but all of a sudden, my daughter is complaining of stinging wee, and needing to go a lot more than usual. Not complaining of tummy ache. We'll take her to the docs tomorrow. She's drinking lots of water (always does) and I'm helping her to wee even though it hurts by distracting her. We've also been recommended to get some natural d-mannose. I think I know it came from a 'number two less than perfect wiping incident' so fairly sure it'd be an e coli situation. she's normally very good at wiping, but was majorly distracted by cousins at Christmas etc, and I discovered at bathtime last week there had been an 'issue'. Also doing vinegar in the bath tonight which is what I've done in the past for me. Any other advice very welcome as its my first time of her having it. Thanks

Who do I need to contact to book the scout hut on Bellenden Road? thanks

I was SAHM with my daughter so we did Sing and Sign and Little Bubbles and Diddidance (not all at the same time!). Unfortunately I've had to go back to work since my son was born, and he's coming up to 2yrs old isn't getting the same input. I'd love to take him to a class as he loves group things, music, playing running - you know, the usual 2yr old boy things. Any recommendations for a Saturday morning class? Could be anything really - music, physical, play... Thanks

Bananas are binding. Apples have fibre in so will have the reverse effect. Try low residue stuff like white rice, white pasta etc if you're really worried or as you say, just less fruit. Perhaps a trip to the GP for a stool test (sorry) would ensure it's not a mild bacterial thing. Both my kids went through these phases. Unless they had a temp or seemed ill, I ignored it and it always sorted itself out with some mild dietary tinkering.

I have three massive vacuum bags of clothes that I need to finally let go of. Everything from newborn vests to warmie all in ones to toddler trousers, tops etc. I was thinking of selling the nice and hardly used stuff in a bundle. Do people buy bundles? If not, what charity would like this sort of stuff. I literally couldnt get it all in the car at once so have loads to say goodbye to. Thanks for the advice/interest.

Yes. That is worth considering. We did a 3 hour back from Bristol this weekend and older one was absolutely fine, but little one had a good shout for 15 mins before dropping off and then woke just before we got home with a good shout too. I think we'd just pull over if there was a real shout going on... as long as we're not in a rush to get anywhere, I think we'll be ok. Shall report back in June!

Going to France for 2 weeks. Kids will be 4.5 yrs old (daughter) and 16 mths (son). If we drive, it'll be to Folkestone, Channel Tunnel, then 9hrs 45 mins drive to the destination. We've never done more than a few hours and both kids have been ok with that. On the way down it'll be at night, and on the way back it'll be daytime. We'd love tips on how we can make this work without having nervous breakdowns. Like how many stops and for how long. And how to keep 4yr old happy and entertained. Thanks in advance!
