Needing help 3 days a week to do (two different school) pick ups, feed, homework, music, have fun etc. Agency recommendations? Uni student would do. Not enough work for an au pair until Summer. How did you find someone to do this type of care for your kids? I'm on Koru Kids (must most of theirs don't drive) Thanks

Not sure where to post this but.... Anyone else having problems posting in For Sale and Items Offered? I've cleared my cache, tried different browsers, not attached photos or links, all to no avail. And I have things to sell! Just me? If so, I'll email @Admin? Thanks

Oglander road car broke into
Fidgetsmum replied to twinhunters's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
A bunch of us on Bellenden have had this happen recently. Very annoying. Our car is quite literally a rubbish tip so they had to search through all sorts to find there was nothing in there. No sign of breaking in to any of our cars, so we think the signal was cloned. Not really sure what to do about it as the car is 10 years old. Just keep nothing in it, other than the rubbish (obvs). -
Do you want Controlled Parking YES or NO
Fidgetsmum replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Absolutely NOT. This is precisely why we moved here was to get away from the ridiculousness of CPZs. -

Sydenham High Junior / St. Dunstan's / DUCKS dilemma
Fidgetsmum replied to Dami.G's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We (my daughter) absolutely loves Sydenham High Junior School. I think, in the end, you have to go on feel. We visited them all and had a number of offers. But we chose in the end where we felt most comfortable and where our daughter seemed most comfortable on the assessment days. And she's thriving there. No disrespect to DUCKS and St Dunstans as I hear great things about them too, but the feel was right at Sydenham and we haven't once been disappointed in the last 3 years that she's been there. Good luck! It's not easy! -
The Villa Nursery & Preschool
Fidgetsmum replied to MellowYellow's topic in The Family Room Discussion
It's a few years ago but both our kids went there and we were all sad to leave. Daughter was there until the end, son left at end of nursery. Went on to great schools after so no complaints. -
Hi Help! We've got two kids (7 and 10) and I'm about to start a job three days a week. The kids are at two separate schools and rather than put them in after school clubs etc, I'd really like them to be able to come home and do homework/music/relax etc as they have enough clubs already in the rest of the week When the kids were younger we were in a brilliant nanny share for 6 years in total but that was 4 days a week. That nanny can't do after school though as she's in a new share. I've had an au pair before and we considered it but for the hours we actually need, it's too much. Is it possible to find someone to do this? It's the actual picking up which seems to be the sticking point. Advice gratefully received!

Our lovely lovely au Pair is with us for the summer and I'd love to put her in touch with other local au Pairs (French ideally). Can you help?

Just had au pair start with us and she wants to use her spare time to do some english language study. Please can anyone recommend how they have supported english learning with their au Pairs? Colleges? Tutors? etc etc! Thanks!

I live ED, we tried JAGS bouncy castle thing, but booked for the date. Not to mention at the very top (aka over) our budget. Where else could we try? I've heard of somewhere in Beckenham, I think? Just want run around space for the boys really. I'm happy (and would rather) provide food etc. Daughter has been ill so I'm now massively behind organising this for January. Any knowledge/recommendations gratefully received that I can ring through - I'm worried all will be booked up.

ESPH Physios are excellent. And can liaise with your GP to get you an MRI if problem persists.

Dairy Free chocolate cake recipe urgently needed

Brilliant! Thank you so much! -
I've trawled the internet but really want a recommended one as it's for my mother's 70th and I'm now panicking. Only needs to be dairy fat free (ie eggs are fine, gluten is fine etc) just needs to be without actual butter, buttermilk etc. A teeny tiny bit would be fine (like cocoa powder can have traces and that's ok) just not lumps of butter etc I really want to use cocoa too ... rather than dairy free chocolate. Help please!!! Am in a total panic that I volunteered to bake her cake now :-(

Recommendations - mobile hairdresser or salon based. Have used Little clippers and good for last year or so, but last cut on 4yo son not so hot so wanted to try somewhere else next time to see if better. Have done a search on EDF but no clear winner I can see. I've got 7yo daughter too with VERY thick hair which needs an experienced cutter. thanks in advance

Can anyone reccomend a private midwife?
Fidgetsmum replied to christinaH's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Oakwood or Brierely - I had mine with Brierely - amazing. But I just rang them directly and kept hounding. I had a tricky first birth (with no special midwife care) so I used this to push hard for their support for number 2. Good luck. Ignore beurocracy rules and just get on the phone and speak to everyone and anyone and don't take the first answer as wrote. -
We have been in a brilliant nanny share for over 5 years. But 4yo goes to reception in September so both kids will then be at school so no need for full time care any more. I'm totally stuck as to what to do. Au pair fills me with dread (someone else living in house, multiple transitions of people over the next years etc) but it seems very hard to find anyone to just do pre and/or post school care. How did you do it? Any lessons learned? Any encouraging words that it will all be ok in the end? Any recommendations of where to look or what to look for? Yours, in fear Fidgetsmum

Can anyone tell me how much the school charge for the school bus which I think does a Dulwich Village pick up? I've just found out how much DPL charge for their bus and nearly died from shock... Thanks :-)

Lovely Julie's daughter was poorly so she couldn't make it. Any other recommendations? I used to use Hairy Jane from Brixton for all our hair but she's stopped doing home visits. :-(
