  1. It's not about risk, but controlling anti social behaviour Currently, and I use the phrase lightly, the "lycra louts" believe they are above the law and can jump lights, cycle on pavements and ride as fast as they can. Licencing and some form of identifying mark will give authorities powers to prosecute anti social cyclist behaviour thus making it better for all road users and pedestrians, but of course yet again you throw the whatabout cars into the argument. Let's face it a large propotlrtion of British cyclists are seen as a special breed of arrogant and it makes it dangerous for other road users and pedestrians so maybe we need to buck the trend and licence them.
  2. Please provide evidence that it would be the case if cyclists are licenced rather than speculate. I am guessing you won't be able to and you are just throwing speculation into the argument to support that cyclist should be above the law.
  3. Beautiful speculation Earl Why would licencing cause an decrease ? If anything it might increase numbers as more nervous cyclists feel safer knowing the aggressive/bad cyclists can be identified, caught and controlled from cycling badly. Could be a win win for all, but I now wait your response saying cyclists are special cases and shouldn't be regulated.
  4. The better choice would have been to raise employee NI back to the pre cut level thereby taxing those who work and can afford it without pushing up prices for everyone. But stupidly "there will be no tax increase on working people" which is why it's disastrous in my mind.
  5. The disastrous decision by Rachel Theives to increase employer NI thereby pushing up costs to businesses resulting in higher prices is my guess
  6. Just don't buy the chocolate covered anchovies Only because it's wrong on so many fronts
  7. The first rule of LTN Fight club is ... everyone talks about LTN fight club on the EDF. I hope it's a "dance fight" but agree no singing. We could all meet in the Crown and Greyhound back room, away from prying eyes, except it's not so easy to drive to these days 😅
  8. Feels like, regardless of what they say and what residents want, we will get a CPZ as it suits the council agenda.
  9. It's -40 points today obviously the market is reacting well 😅
  10. Possibly at the time most people did it, with grants from the government, the long term issues were just emerging so research may have thrown up the odd one or two problems but not the general recommendation not to use it...
  11. Labours head of communications really should be advising Kier better. We've had, so far, the budget will be bad, we've inherited a 20 billion black hole, the NHS is broken, and today "Britain isn't working" in relation to jobs and apprenticeships Whilst honesty is a good thing, there are better ways of wording things Negativity drives negativity in situations like this, especially in business and businesses are what labour requires to grow the economy and offer jobs to the unemployed. It does feel like Captain Kier has turned into Private Frazer crying "we're all doomed"
  12. I had to look it up but 4.1 million people signed a petition for second brexit referendum if there was a narrow margin. The data is from 2017 so there may be bigger petitions since. https://www.itv.com/news/2017-01-31/petitions-what-are-the-10-most-signed-and-what-have-they-achieved
  13. From memory, I believe there were people talking for one, and after Liz and Rishi took the reigns as well....
  14. Take your labour blinkers off sir, Businesses are cutting hiring, prices will go up and new businesses won't start all as a result in the NI hike for employers Talking down the country pre budget also knocked consumer confidence Tomorrow labour are goung to announce getting young people into education or employment, yet with the above where will those jobs come from ? The three people who sent the pertition to me are all small business owners who are taking the brunt of the changes introduced in the budget, one is even talking about closing as it impacts margins so heavily. This is why people are unhappy. Labour hog tied themselves by promising no tax rises on working people and now the economy is suffering. Take the red pill sir, not the blue one.
  15. Thankfully Sephiroth, you aren't in charge because if you were, like Captain Kier, you too would be ignoring the warning signs and carry on steering the ship into an iceberg. Trying to dismiss nearly 2 million people, all of whom had to verify their email address, as "a bit unstable" is low even for you. Face the facts, it's not anti labour rethoric , it's a genuine concern that the government are making poor decisions for the economy and country.
  16. The point is Seph, that if I was in charge of the government, even if it has no hope, it would be making me wonder why people were signing . Especially if it gets much bigger. Who knows, maybe there will be a reshuffle at the top.
  17. The concept of Rachel Reeves being deposed from power soon may well have some validity. There is an online pertition that I was sent this afternoon calling for a new general election based on "I believe the current Labour Government have gone back on the promises they laid out in the lead up to the last election." Thos afternoon it had 750,000 signatures now at 10pm on Sunday evening it had over 1.6 million signatures. Whilst it has no hope, if I was Kier I would be questioning why so many people seem to be up in arms.
  18. It's too early Don't do it 😅
  19. Typical Mal response "Whatabout...." but never accepting that even ine cyclists causing an accident is a road safety problem. DuncanW, guess the proof of the pudding is in the eating, good luck if you ever need to claim.
  20. Reading the policy you posted, plus my own and a friends insurance policies, all with personal liability insurance cover, none of them.will cover you as cyclust if you cause an accident. They ate worded "We will provide cover under section 4 Family Legal Protection as long as: • we and the appointed representative agree that your claim has reasonable prospects of success for the duration of the claim" I think, and I'm no.legal expert that you are on shaky ground if you think this policy will cover you if you cause an accident when cycling. @malumbu your dismissing of the low number of accidents caused by cyclists, I'm sure anyone injured by a cyclist would care. Equally, whilst numbers convicted are low, it could simply be that there are more breaking the rules who simply aren't caught.
  21. Sadly, the impact this budget is having on the economy was felt far and wide before it even occurred BBC News - Retail sales fell in October as Budget fears hit spending - BBC News https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gmy9xldgno The increase in employers NI, whilst not directly taxing working people, will be passed on to them in higher costs of services and goods so it's an indirect tax. The argument of the alleged 20 billion black hole, I was always taught "To cut your coat according to your cloth" and the government should have taken a little time to boost the econimy before increasing wages and spending. The current feel is that they are increasing costs, red tape and inflation, all of which is not giving businesses the confidence to grow and generate income which inversely increases the tax income.
  22. From your last post @malumbu it's obvious that the police on crystal palace road are on a stakeout looking for you .....
  23. Interesting A quick search shows the opposite unless you add on a specialist cycling option. Therefore I am doubting the fact that most cyclists are insured third party if they cause an accident.
  24. Haven't they found you yet ? 😅
  25. If 500 farms sell off 20% of their land each year (the PMs estimate on the back of a Rizla paper) then how long before we lose large chunks of farm land ? As for giving away land, sure providing they live 7 years afterwards Stop being a labour cheerleader and put yourself in farmers wellies for a moment. Farming is a necessity, doesn't make Massive profits and after you consider the 7 days a week often 14 hour days, I bet most farmers don't even earn minimum wage per hour. You will soon be whinging if there's no fresh veg on the shelves to go with your non existent turkey at Chrustmas.
