We need a gun shop. I've been on the phone to someone or other at the council all morning and urge you all to do the same.

Unless there is a massive sign on the side of the building reading 'Wacky Warehouse', you have no business taking children anywhere where there may be other people.

A 'comedy' character. How wonderful. Neil Boorman you are not.

OK, so you've deduced why a bunch of undesirables might hang around in dark, secluded spots. If dark, secluded spots aren't your thing, then avoid them. If the only way someone is going to separate you from your bike is by them prising open your cold, dead hands, then as you were. Next thread.

The bit probably being referred to here (it used to run all the way to the Thames) runs up the side of Peckham library up to the Old Kent Road. It's since been filled in but you can still see remnants of a towpath. As with all areas of London at night, it is recommended you exercise caution and common sense. And also that you're more likely to be hit by a car than attacked down there.

A massive great flyover from East Dulwich Road to Brixton would be a nice addition.

I've cycled through there, daily, for the best part of 3 years. It's a combination of luck and common sense. If you're not confident going down there as someone says use the 63 route, but if someone's going to take you off your bike they're going to do it anywhere.

A betting shop would not open in ED if they thought they were going to lose money. ergo there is demand. Maybe not from the morally-superior denizens of this here forum, but there is demand.

Calling a betting shop a 'problem' is surely purely subjective. Why is that a 'problem' and a pub isn't? I guess betting shops don't sell upmarket bangers and mash for ?11 and do a kid's menu.

Public gets what the public wants. Someone's done a feasibility study and worked out a new betting shop is feasible. If you're so outraged, don't go in there.

The Gowlett is the most bearable in the area. Palmerston is good for food, but full of braying poshos bleating loudly into Blackberry speechtools. If you're a seething misanthrope best give most of LL a miss. -

I'd put it down to higher average wage in ED meaning more people able to afford a concubine to blow strawberry-scented oxygen into their ailing lungs if they so wanted, which pushes the life-expectancy right up. Not rocket science. -

Burglaries yes, what with being an affluent area with stuff worth stealing. Violent crime, not a spit in the ocean compared with the rest of London. Which is more worthy of money would you say?

Imagine if Waitrose opened in ED. That would really complete some people's lives.

And leave it for a bunch of cosseted ex-Home Counties white supremacists? Never.
