Having spent most of my adult life, apart from a brief rebellion as a Claphamite, in the green and sometimes pleasant lands of ED - I am now on the move to the far reaches of the uncharted globe known as Beckenham. Born in Dulwich Hospital, I can truly claim to be from here. Like many of us indigenous inhabitants that have posted on here, tis with mixed feelings that I depart from this land. To say that ED has well and truly disappeared up it's own backside in the last couple of decades or so, is a gross understatement. The worried well, helicopter parents who shriek at the top of their voices when communicating in the most smugly patronising tones to their entitled-can=do-no-wrong offspring, is a sound I most certainly shall not miss. This mainly occurs in supermarkets where they anxiously seek the approval of all those around them. What a great parent I am, I discuss with little Oliver the choice of cheeses before him. Listen everybody, even tho I'm obnoxiously loud, I'm insecure about my parenting and need your approval. But that is not to say that I won't miss the place. Dulwich Park and the cafe on L.L amongst a few. Oddly enough, one thing I will miss is this forum. I have a love/hate relationship with the EDF, but in terms of a vibrant community forum, it's got to be right up there with the Oscar winners. So having looked at the Beckenham forum (and collapsed with sheer tedium) my parting plea is that if any of the kind, intelligent dynamic souls that help to run this forum, fancy giving the Beckenhamions some instruction; PLEASE please do so. Even better still, if Admin fancies moving to Beckenham where the air is fresh and clean, please do so. But, don't all come... Gertie, over and out.
