  1. wow this is the first time I've read this thread I'm glad to say or I might have just given up. a huge thank you to those supporting the idea of something a bit radical and experimental even if they don't have all the answers (and I certainly don't). Thank god there are some people willing to give things a go and see what happens - I've enjoyed meeting a lot of you down at the shop (although I think we could come up with a more descriptive word for the space). and how depressing I found reading the negative, often sarky comments here. Why bother knocking something when it's not even affecting you? I don't get it. I've been involved in The Dream Machine from its spontaneous beginning, and believe in its ideals. It is something good. It may not last. But I think it's a waste of time and mind trying to justify the existence of something on a forum to people who don't even like the idea of it. I'd be really happy to talk with anyone who wants to come down over the weekend, and explore how it could work best, how to sustain it, how it could develop.. Best Wishes, Elaine (obviously these are my personal views and comments)
  2. He did. Dare say that won't be the end of it.
  3. I'm prepared to take a risk in the interest of reminding the younger generation what's important (correct use of the semi-colon) and myself that I'm not dead yet. Re religious beliefs, I believe I mentioned the Archers in another thread. I'll go as the Queen Mother. Now: hat, gloves, pearls, tooth-blacking, gin ... what else?
  4. Listen, bottom line is that it's meant to be a place that inspires people. A place that will helpfully encourage people to believe that yes, if they do want to be a musician and make music, and then record it and make a record to sell in shops, then they can actually do it right on their bloody doorstep. I've done numerous projects in the past based around the simple principal of everyone mucking in to help, but bugger me, you lot are a difficult bunch. To be honest with you, having two kids, managing and tour managing bands and running a shop, is just too fucking much to deal with. Thank you to those who have supported the idea so far. Well done those of you who have convinced me of what should happen next. You've made my mind up. I hope you enjoy the designer baby clothing/wine bar/estate agents it will end up becoming. I'm off to America.
