  7. Hi, following this thread as also a single parent. Free daytimes & wknds. Can't do evenings unfortunately, thanks.
  8. Hi Sue, I didn't see the post above mine till now. How horrific! It's such a stressful experience for dog and the owner, best to get your dog checked over at the vets. You can report to the local dog warden which would be Southwark council I believe.
  9. So sorry this happened to your dog, wishing him a speedy recovery. Do you have a description of the dog or owner please so that others know who to look out for? Did the owner of the dog tell you it was a Pit Bull, just that there is no such breed, Pit Bull is a term used to describe several breeds of dogs that all have similar characteristics. So in the UK they get this type of dog by crossing a Bull breed and large breed such as Mastiff.
  10. Brilliant news, she has been reunited with owner :)
  11. LOST DOG: Xochi, Female Alaskan Malamut, missing 14th March from Dulwich Woods. Any info call: 07734 110 673
  12. Hi siousxiesue, if you did decide to go with Battersea I would happily help transport the dog back to them for you as I am a dog volunteer there and local to Dulwich. Fostering is such a great thing to do and so many dogs would benefit from it especially from Battersea where there is currently major building works going on, it's incredibly stressful for a lot of the dogs there.
  13. If this was my son I would be fuming and he would be taken out. My toddler goes to pre school he is 2 and if they dragged him by his feet play or not I wouldn't be happy. I don't believe any nursery would do that in play, it's one thing to do at home to your own child but you don't expect a teacher to do that in play. What you describe wasn't a play situation, they were trying to get him to stop what he was doing and move to the table. They should be able to get him to do this without force! Regardless of the flooring it's unacceptable. I think the nursery cam is a great idea.
  14. Well obviously not all year round in the sense of everyday if that's what you mean? Actually I'm not sure what you mean or why you are picking me up on it. I said all year round as in several times a year, throughout the year, does it matter anyway! It's bloody annoying regardless of how often it is.
  15. Yes Otta, we get them all year round as in several times a year. We have lots of religious festivals which my neighbours have firework celebrations for Eid, Diwali, then there is Guy Fawkes, NYE and random parties too.
  16. Just signed both petitions. Really distressing night for my dog & toddler. Would like a ban to the public for private use and just keep them for public displays. We get the all year round not just Guy Fawkes & NYE anymore. It's just the really offensive loud bang ones that people now seem to be setting off, they sound like bombs and they're rubbish compared to the other quieter fireworks that are at least pretty to look at.
  17. Hi, I would leave it for a few weeks and wait till he's showing clear signs he is ready. It may not be long before for he does but in my opinion better to wait till they show that they want to go on the potty/toilet and can tell you when they need to go so that it will be less stressful for all and quicker wth fewer accidents. My sons preschool wanted him potty trained at 2! He started preschool at 2.2mths and he wasn't ready there was absolutely no mention of a potty infact he wore it round the house as a hat! We had only read a couple of potty books together and he would come to the bathroom with me when I went so started to get his own understanding of what was going. I had decided to wait till he was closer to 3 next Summer to start training as regardless of what pressure preschool put me under if he wasn't ready I wasn't ready and as he is only there one morning a wk will probably not need a nappy change. However in the last couple of months he has gone from sitting on potty/toilet himself saying pooh but after doing it and same for wee (he would want changing as soon as wet). Now at 2.5 he tells me when he is going to go and sits on the potty/toilet before he goes. So I guess those are pretty clear signs he is ready, practically doing it himself! I've never once sat him on the potty and he climbs up onto the toilet himself too infact the potty is a bit of an obsession now! He keeps nappies on though, I think only a couple of times I took it off and he went in the potty. I wanted to get the madness of christmas out the way before training him and also so we can be mainly at home for the week and I guess I'll just take nappy off and see how it goes eek! Each child will be ready in their own time and as long as they're not starting primary school in nappies I don't see a problem. Good luck!
  18. Hi, You could rehome her to Foal Farm Animal Rescue in Biggin Hill, they have hens.
  19. One of our lovely dogs passed away 3wks ago very suddenly and totally unexpected. My 2yr old loved her, we told him she wasn't well and had gone over the rainbow bridge where she is free for pain and running free happy with her friends. He still calls her name everyday but now says her name and then gone so seems to understand. I bought a couple of books to read to him: Hanson, Maria "Dog Heaven: Somewhere Over the Rainbow Bridge" Raesisde A. "The Rainbow Bridge" I personally wouldn't have wanted him to see her after she passed or sick as would want his last memories of her to be of her healthy and happy.
  20. Hi, My 2yr old has lost his in the night garden Tombliboo soft toy. He woke this morning crying his eyes out for it whereas he wasn't so obsessed before I think as I spent a night away from him over the wknd and again tonight (as in hospital)he is clinging onto it more. Apparently nap time went out the window as he was still asking for it and so I'm wondering if anyone has one to sell me and hopefully partner can pick up tonight before bedtime or at least in the morning! Annoyingly they don't seem to be on sale a anywhere! Many Thanks
  21. I echo what Chloe writes above, Battersea Dogs Home, Foal Farm both have lots of dogs all various breeds and ages looking for a forever home. Perhaps you could start your search there?
  22. Hi avablue, I don't have any advice to help you deal with that terrible situation but just wanted to say that your boss sounds awful, what a mean and horrible woman! I can't believe she has made personal notes about you, that's crazy! She should most definitely be taking her dog to the vet herself, especially as it's not a one off. I feel sorry for her dog too! It sounds as though she is taking advantage of you, leave and find a new employer who will appreciate all you do for their family. Best of luck.
  23. I don't understand why you keep posting about the barking dog keeping you awake on here and don't just get out there and try to track the house down and confront them! They may not be on this forum and possibly have no idea its causing you such a problem. Next time the dog barks why don't you get up and go and try to find the house knock on the door and ask them to not let the dog bark outside past 11pm. We had the same situation where we lived a few years ago, the dog would bark for long periods of time after 1am keeping us all awake. On the third night in a row I went round there and knocked their door down until they answered and turns out they had been letting the dog out to toilet late and then leaving him out there. They apologise and the barking late at night stopped. What about ear plugs, surely that will block out the barking?!
  24. I said that soulking mainly because I don't have the time to get into a debate about my comment on here. Fairly often on this forum threads erupts into a heated debate just because you have a difference of opinion from somebody else. Sometimes it's nice to just listen to others, give your comment and move on and not have every comment you make picked apart.
  25. Hi, found a golden teddy with gold bow tie attached to raccoon teddy with suction cup in the road outside Dulwich prep. Have hung it up on the railings above the Dulwich prep banner. I can't attach the photo as it's says file too large!
