  1. I've had a few of them and personally I rate the Dulwich Tandoori the highest. I also disagree that the food quality is compromised, at the Dully T the food was as good as when I have been there for a proper meal. I reckon that through the mass production of curries in big vats they reduce the average production cost per customer and so still turn over a decent profit. Economy of scale basically.
  2. Can't any of you spot a joke! Of course I don't expect to travel round london for free, well actually I do, I have a bike, which is a far better way to get around than using the trains. Every time I catch a train they just make me angry. Probably something to do with being jossled by hurried commuters at the station, crammed in with a load of people who are all in a bad mood because they have to go to work and wasting valuable time pointlessly hanging around at stations waiting for trains to arrive. Dodging the occasional fare mitigates this somewhat, at least I haven't had to pay to get pissed off and it balances out financially the times when I do pay a fare which is incredidbly overpriced.
  3. Have been to both the corner cafe and sema thai. Neither are particularly brilliant, but corner cafe was the better of the two. I dunno about anyone else but I always seem to find it difficult to find authentic thai food in the UK. A 1pound green curry from a street stall in Bangkok walks all over anything I have had in an expensive thai restaurant over here. Maybe its got something to do with the availability of the ingredients.
  4. I actually am fairly impressed by peckham rye park. It is a nice place to run round and its large expanse of green space is a welcome break from the overcrowded urban squalor which constitutes its surrounding area.
  5. Oyster readers good, ticket barriers bad! Will not be impressed if I end up forced to pay for the pitiful service that constitutes our local rail transport system.
  6. I walked past this establishment the other day. Was going to go in but didn't, as it looked shite through the windows. Apologies to the owners of this bar, but you're going to have to do a bit of work on your interior design and atmosphere if you want to attract customers. I can't actually categorically say that this "bar" is shite as I never actually went in there, it just looks dreadful from the outside.
  7. I refuse to accept this fine. Inspection of the camera images reveals that there was not a single pedestrian or vehicle anywhere near my car at the time of the manoeuvre. In my mind what I did was perfectly safe, indeed I have never had an accident in over 10 years of driving. If Lambeth council want to make that junction safer, putting a warning sign up re the cameras would prevent more "right turners" than by sending them a fine, 3 Weeks after the horse has bolted. The only conclusion I can draw is that they are more interested in cashing in on "stealth" fines than actuall improving road safety at Herne Hill. Anyway, I have voiced my opinion, which people are entitled to agree or disagree with. The original point of my post was to warn others of the dangers of this junction. Don't let them get u!
  8. In my opinion, 9 would be a good time to start. They could still do a day's work and be finished before most people got home from work. Not everybody is up at 8am, I don't start work til half nine for example, so generally get up at about 8:45. There are also many doctor's, nurses, shift workers, etc who don't work to a 9-5 schedule. Are they not decent people too?
  9. Anybody know what the hell they are doing on Lordship Lane??? When will it all be finished????? And why they need to start at 8'o clock in the morning when most decent people are still asleep????? With that and the late night noise due to pissheads in all the various bars its become impossible for me to get a decent night's sleep in my own home.
  10. The fine is a pain in the neck, however it is the secretive tactics used to catch me which I hate. I did not hear about this offence until 28 days after it was commiteed! Trial, judge and jury all completed by a computer. Why are there no signs warning of the cameras? Surely that would act as more of a deterent than sending people a fine in the post THREE weeks after they have already comitted the offence. And it is a bit pathetic isnt it? A 60 quid fine for turning right when not supposed to......big deal. Tis not the actual fine which annoys me but the pathetic waste of time I must undergo in order to deal with the council's tedious money catching tactics. SeanMacGabhan, you say "In 2008 is it STILL "underhand" tactics?? There are road signs and road rules and the chances are that if we knowingly break them there IS a camera catching us - might not like it but only the very slow could still claim to be surprised? " It is a sad day when we are forced to assume that we are being watched on camera, and I for one refuse to accept, and will play no part in such a society.
  11. Just received in the post this morning a notice from Lambeth Council. A ?60 fine for turning right at the crossroads by Herne Hill station / Brockwell park. Caught by a hidden CCTV camera! I am not amused at the pathetic underhand tactics employed by which ever idiot at the council it was that thought it was a good idea to put a camera there. Are there any warnings of the presence of these cameras? No. Is this right? No. Yet another example of the big brother police state in which we live. Anyway, my point is do not turn right at said crossroads, no matter how safe or innocent such a manoeuvre might appear to be. Otherwise those who believe in treating the citizens of this country like children will have their 60 quid off you. ?60 quid!! Lambeth Council "Hidden Camera Department", may the flies of a thousand plagues infest your rancid corpses.
  12. cock up on posting, please delete this!B)
  13. Just had a look at the "+venture bar" website. All I can say is this bar has the potential to be dreadful. Sanitised, commercial drinking marketed to the mass morons. If this place gives me any trouble with noise then I will have them shut down. Happily however I think their short sighted policy of only selling overpriced cocktails will be their down fall in this credit crunch era.
  14. all I can say is that the mew management had better not leave the door open late at night and keep me awake, unlike the clowns that used to run inside 72. I was pleased to see it go, for that reason.
  15. all I can say is FOXTONS OUT! You waste countless units of energy with your tasteless shop front with 24 hr light show and television which broadcasts to nobody. You sell overpriced, poor quality properties. You stop me from parking my car near my house with your pathetic vehicles. I am not surprised you have had your tyres slashed to be honest. When people feel powerless against the tasteless lifestyle marketing which is forced upon them by companies such as yours, how else can they protest?
  16. Sam, as I said earlier its all about what you want from a gym. All I want is a no nonsense, good value gym where I can go in, do my thing and go home. ESPH is not that. If it does well, good luck to it, but it is not my kind of place. I admit I have never run a gym before, but It does not take a genius to see that ESPH is overpriced. If it is still going a year from now, I will be very surprised.
  17. I suppose its horses for courses when you choose a gym. Its just that ESPH is not the course for my horse. As a 27 year old bloke who is in half decent shape, in a gym I look for: -a decent amounts of free weights and resistance machines which can be set to quite a high weight. ESPH has basically no free weights, the highest dumbell I seem to remember is 20kilos! Also those pneumatic machines are a load of crap compared to cable and pulley machines. -Some cardio machines, eg treadmills and rowers. Ok, esph has these. -Im not interested in a) classes or b) assesments and instruction / supervision. Perhaps Im not really the target market for this gym, for me fusion on goose green is double more useful and half the price. Perhaps if you were a female pilates/ yoga addict who went to every available class then the 80quid fee might be worth its money, but I still think this gym has really poor facilities compared to fusion and to its price tag. If they could just stop playing such crap music in fusion then it would be perfect!
  18. Just to confirm! Im not talking about push studios, im talking about esph. APOLOGIES TO PUSH STUDIOS FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE TO YOUR REPUTATION.
  19. Talking of running, is Peckham Rye dodgy to run across at night? I like nothing better than late night running at about 10pm after I finish work. Went round the rye last night but stuck to the perimieter road on the edge. Would I encounter crack heads and muggers if I ventured into the rye itself, or would I find peaceful tranquility?
  20. Was passing by that new gym at the bottom of Lordship lane a few days ago, (edit):ESPH (not push studios!) its called, apologies if im wrong. Am thinking about joining a gym so I went in to have a look round. Had a look at the membership fees, (its about 70 to 80 quid a month if I remember), and was thinking "must be a good gym if they're charging that much." Went upstairs to have a look round and what do I see? Absolutely sack all! A couple of treadmills and rowers, some dumbells and a few pathetic looking pneumatic resistance machines! Was not impressed to say the least, how they can charge so much for so little is beyond me. If they are reading this my advice to the managers would be to pull their fingers out and put a decent gym together asap, or they're going to loose out big time!
  21. Its not the engines, but the clattering and banging of crates which is the problem. The flaming thing has just turned up at 23:15, a full hour and a quarter after the store has closed. Thats a full extra hour of noise until the small hours.
  22. -- moved topic --
  23. According to a friend of mine who works in the Southwark planning department, a "fastfood chain restaurant" are in dialogue about opening up somewhere on LL! If the golden arches are coming then Im afraid im out of here when my lease runs out.
  24. All im saying is try living right next to it. I don't see why they couldn't get all the deliveries done before 12 o,clock at night. Say they start at nine, they could easily get it done. I couldn't care less about Somerfeld's logistical concerns, its my night's sleep which is most important to me. The laws of nuisance are in my favour. Somerfield are "interfering with my enjoyment of my property" and therefore action could be viably taken against them.
  25. Anyone else out there have problems with the Somerfield delivery lorry causing a racket at all hours of the night? Quite why they must choose such a time to make their deliveries is beyond me. Lets get together, put an action of nuisance against them and end this farce.
