Thanks so much everyone. I got given the Liz Earle cleanse and polish from a friend who probably felt sorry for me- so will make a start with that. Thanks for the blog tips and good idea re samples. That's what I'm worried about Yak- may also look at the baby sleep wonder lady who had a thread on here a few months back. Thanks again everyone, Jess XX

I feel like my skin (especially face) has aged about 10 years since having my second child last summer! She's still up 3-4 times per night then awake for the day by 6am. I don't have time or money for regular facials and other therapies so wondered if anyone can recommend a product they've used successfully before. I'm moisturising and using a serum twice a day, but think I might need something extra to perk up my skin a bit- just to make it look a bit less dull and tired. Any tips and recommendations greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jess X

Currently such an ugly sight to look at every day for us who live this end of lordship lane. Would love to see the building out to good use (pub would be especially good as slim pickings this way). -
Buggy Pitstop (or other repairs services)?
Jessicas429 replied to Bonfire2010's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I rate Tommy's wear and cheer on rye lane. Very personal service, helpful and reaosnably priced. Probably worth ringing ahead as think they may focus on specific brands to repair. 020 7635 9252 Jess X -
I agree- poor woman. Whilst not everyone likes smoking, it is still legal and it's wrong to try and shame someone in a public forum in this way.

How do you know she's a nanny?

I went two and a half years ago just before first child was born. From my memory there was little to do within walking distance. It was near a beach which wasn't the prettiest. Having said that, the resort put on a lot of excursions-water park, mount teide but being 8 months pregnant, I was happy enough to lie like a beached whale in a sunbed while my husband took advantage of the all-inclusive drinks. Thought the restaurants were great. The main buffet one was very child friendly and had excellent and wide selection of food. Went to an Italian as well which was nice enough. Can't help on the kids club but will follow for other replies in case we decide to go again in the future. Enjoy your trip, Jess -

I know it's not exactly what you're looking for, but Shelter offer emergency accommodation solutions (in someone's home, not hostel) to those aged between 16 and 25 who find themselves homeless. They have a free phone number I'll have a quick look and post on here.

Hello, I'm looking for some advice about the cost of nannies locally. I've been very happy with a childminder in the past but now I have two, and thinking about returning to work, I quite like the idea of someone coming in. I dont know anyone locally who has a nanny and have tried googling local costs but couldn't find information. I'd only be looking at three days a week and didn't know whether this would be a problem when searching. I'd just like an approx idea of local rates. Also, any info on how people found their current nanny would be much appreciated. Thanks, Jess X

My experience in July 2014 with a second child, was an emcs rather than elective but cannot fault the medical care I received- I remember looking at the clock and it was just gone 10am, my daughter was born at 10.12 and I had a general anaesthetic beforehand. To be honest, I found the ante-natal midwife care not so great. I was considered 'low-risk' for the duration of the pregnancy and at times almost felt like a bit of an inconvenience when I raised concerns or issues I had and felt like they were downplayed. I should mention that although I was under the Kings midwives, all my appointments were held at clinics outside the hospital. I still have some issues with the birth which I'd like to address with someone appropriate at the hospital at some point when I'm ready. However, as mentioned I cannot fault the medical care I recevied especially as it was a weekend and the hospital felt empty. The team of doctors treating me me were completely on the ball, compassionate and gave me complete confidence.

We both have parents in different parts of Essex- like you I was really fretting about this. We had about three friends/more distant family members all fairly local who offered to assist with looking after our 2 year old until closer family arrived. I figured people wouldn't offer if they didn't mean it. I'm sure once the time comes nearer, people will offer and if not, sure friends wouldn't mind being asked. Not sure if this is helpful, but I played out the worst case scenario in my head which was my husband not being there for a couple of hours of labour/or birth(!) until family arrived. Once I'd come to terms with that being a (very slight) possibility it didn't seem to bad, and of course that didn't happen. Best of luck Jess X

I've found the tyres to be the main problem with the Dot. After having an icandy with my son (very durable tyres)we purchased the dot as we had an almost identical age gap to you and wanted a space saving pushchair for buses etc. We got two punctures almost immediately then found out we were supposed to buy slime filled inner tubes which we weren't aware of beforehand. We duly bought these and have continued to get punctures. Had to all get a taxi back from east London on New Years eve due to the latest accident! Ive heard of some people buying it and then replacing the tyres immediately to more durable ones. It is great for space saving however though found it heavier to lift than I'd imagined from the look of it. Didn't find that an issue re putting baby at the back though they are quite close to the ground. I guess it's personal choice and how often you're using the pushchair. My daughter (now 5 months) has ended up being in a baby carrier most of the time so I've hardly used that combo on buses/trains etc. In retrospect, wish we'd just got the icandy doubled up which can be done easily by stockists, then got by on using the baby carrier/pushchair or pushchair/buggy board combos but a lot of these things are individual. I know some who've started out with intention on using carriers/buggyboards and ended up choosing and buying a double buggy once baby is a couple of months old and they've got more an idea of how often they'd use buggy than beforehand. Used to love the White bear in Kennington (not been for 2 years but doesn't look much changed from the outside). Saw a great Jez Butterworth 'the winterling' in 2011. Pub stays open reasonably late afterwards and had a great jukebox which is hopefully still there.

Would second 'we're going on a bear hunt'- really good production and perfect toddler length. My very boisterous 2 year old sat still for the whole thing. They have a few tickets left- my sister managed to get an extra , one of the last 10 for yesterday's production. But probably worth ringing first. Jess

Look on childcare.co.uk - you can make a profile with your requirements and childminders/nannies can get in touch. I think ?50-?60 per day is standard but not 100% sure. Jess

Have you tried the East dulwich tots website? They list loads locally with times and the age each activity/group is aimed for. http://www.edtots.co.uk Jess -
Would second this recommendation. Took my 2 year old son today as we were nearby. Very friendly Santa with good age appropriate gift. Think they had some other bits going on as well in the studios- kids christmas disco etc. think the info is all on the twist studios website. Jess

Hello, Does anyone know where an IUD Coil can be fitted locally? My baby's health visitor recommended Towley Road who've told me they don't fit them and to try camberwell sexual health clinic. I visited the camberwell clinic a while back and had a terrible experience- arriving two minutes after opening time and being 25 in the queue which took me until nearly 2pm. This appeals even less now I have two children under two in tow! Surely there must be somewhere more local that fits them? Any suggestions very welcome particularly if I can book an appointment rather than a walk in service. Many thanks

That's ok I'm looking for a double anyway so any tips /recommendations would be great x

Not sure how clear this message is now I've read it back! I mean possibly a shop in the local area or around south-east london which stocks a good selection of pushchairs/buggies. Many thanks, Jessica

Hi, Can anyone recommend the best place locally to look at a good wide selection of pushchairs and buggies? I only moved to this area a year ago and find myself needing a double buggy in about 6 weeks time. Have done a bit of research into what I think would suit, but would like to view a few before rushing into buying one. Many thanks for any help, Jessica
