  1. We might be going to Norway next week for a short trip and were wondering if anyone has experience of requesting taxis with car seats? It's Haugesand which I hear is a relatively small town. If anyone on the forum has any experience, would love to hear them please!
  2. Our 2.5yr old is starting in the Duckling room from this September. I was wondering if anyone else has kids starting there interested in doing some play dates over the summer to help them with settling in?
  3. A friend of mine lives on Chesterfield Grove. Apprentl, their next door 3-bedroom terraced house sold for ?650k, ?5k above asking price. Does seem expensive but I think ED must still feel relatively affordable to those buyers being pushed it of areas like Clapham, Putney, etc (and north of the river as suggested).
  4. That's great!!! Hopefully it will get better and better now x
  5. A similar bottle has appeared on Colwell Road!! Just the one so far...
  6. So sorry to hear of the difficulties. Must be really stressful and difficult for you. Sounds like you are doing an amazing job though. I have no experience of the different milk types you mention but was wondering whether you could be referred to King's dietician? When our son was about 7m old, he had suspected dairy intolerance and was referred to Kings for an allergy test. The waiting time was too long though so we ended seeing someone privately first. When we eventually went to Kings, we had the option to meet with the dietician but never needed it by then. The dietrician did give me a call to have a chat though and was very helpful. (son had mild milk and potato intolerance) Others might have more info on whether GP can refer you directly to dietrician?
  7. Personally, I am a huge fan of Next babygros. Hadn't bought anything from Next before and had always used John Lewis, Sainsburys or Gap ones with baby no. 1 (found GAP ones the worst of three, Sainsburys ones not great after a few washes and John Lewis ok but again, felt really thin after a few washes). Got given some Next ones as a present for baby no.2 and haven't looked back since. Nice thickness, enforced round the sleeves so they don't roll up and no bobbles after washing. Getting some more today!
  8. Best thing we did to our house. Completely changed the way we use our entire ground floor. Living room and dining room are kids (and plastic crap) free as we have a spacious play area in the kitchen having done the side return. If you already have the party wall from next door, should be a few grand of saving. Go for it!!!
  9. Absolutely fab. Previously lived in central London (Russell Sq), Elephant and castle, Greenwich and Balham. ED is by far my favourite and as long as we live in London, we wont be looking anywhere else!
  10. My husband is 6ft 4 and I'm 5ft 1. Promenade works for both of us - it has a curved handle which can be extended out very far :)) Helen GV Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > i have a vibe and don't think i could have got a > sport, as when i've pushed them i've found i can't > stride naturally, something which i find really > annoying. 11. We would love a Friday morning class too please!
  12. I have been raving on here about the latest p&t (promenade). Still extremely happy and the bottom seat also reclines completely flat. Also, you can convert both seats into bassinets really quickly so toddler to baby is easy to do. Also folds easily (two button job). Been on bus, train and tube, no problem. Got ours from Peppermint on north cote road who did a price match.
  13. I would definitely suggest a Bee, especially if baby hates lying flat as even the flattest position is slightly at an angle. Easy for flying with too. Personally, I only use Mmy Mclaren for very short trips only (leave it in the car) as I find it hard t lo manoeuvre. Good luck!
  14. Interesting one Saffron. Having another child and unexpectedly having to rely on public funds (change in circumstancs) might happen and if that's the case, fair enough. However, having another child when the parents know for sure that they will end up relying on public funds as a direct consequence, doesn't sit comfortably with me. 15. Thank you for all the replies. Ruffler, I will definitely consider that for our kids when the time comes.
  16. I'm looking to get braces done for myself but would like to find a child friendly one as our children are likely to need some orthodontic treatment when they get a bit older. Our dentist mentioned the Dulwich Orthodontic Centre but she had no experience with them. Can anyone recommend local orthodontists (or easy to get to from ED)or any comments on Dulwich Orthodontic centre? I'm looking to get the invisible braces. Many thanks in advance
  17. How about the Queen's House at Greenwich Park? They close the place to the public early when wedding is on so you can have the entire venue. We had a civil ceremony, 120 guests for wedding breakfast (outside catering firm), then has dance and disco in the basement with extra 80 guests. Had an amazing time and every time we go past it, still brings back memories!!
  18. Just got back from a 4-day break at Holt in Norfolk. So much to do in nearby towns with children (including a steam engine train ride to Sherringham, a seaside town). Had a wonderful time and we will definitely be going back. 3 hours door to door with a stop and we stayed at Byfords of Holt. Amazing food, massive room (with a single toddler bed - rm 16) and very very friendly. Highly recommended. http://www.byfords.org.uk/
  19. Yup! Agreed. 20. Recently got this for a friend of mine on: More than words Edited as my original link was for a crematorium in Enfield! Definitely not a good wedding present....
  21. My post crossed with Saffron's and agree that it's not jus the personality and caring nature to think about but also parenting and childcare methods and beliefs should be discussed upfront. Unfortunately, not all the nannies seem to have childcare education or qualifications. I have met quite a few that just fallen into the job so it's worth keeping that in mind.
  22. If she really is a nanny, definitely not a good one. I agree with Ruth. You have to meet as many as possible and go with your gut feeling. As in every job, you get good ones and you get bad ones. We have a wonderful nanny that I got to know very well during my maternity leave so that could be an option to consider? I.e. starting with your nanny on a par time basis before returning to work. I have seen awful nannies but equally some wonderful ones in te parks, play groups etc. If you find the right person, it can be an amazing childcare option so please don't rule it out just yet.
  23. A massive foodie hamper? Everyone can enjoy it then! Or a holiday voucher? Mr and mrs smith or Hotel du Vin do vouchers I think.
  24. Thank you for all the comments everyone. Last week he was showing signs of slight dehydration with fewer wrt nappies and very constipated (usually very regular, a few bug nappies a day) dropping his poop nappy to every two days. Sorry, TMI! I fed my first one for 18 months and always had so much milk that this was so unexpected. I'm going to try all the tips suggested and see how we get on.
  25. Baby is only 5 months old and I have noticed that in the last week or so, my milk just doesn't seem to be there any more. (No "football" boob effect which I used to get whenever he was due a feed). He is trying to feed more often - I assume due to not getting enough when he does feed. Any suggestions on increasing milk supply? I have heard about mother's tea and will be getting that tomorrow but would also welcome other ideas. I'm not ready to stop BF yet :(
