Louisa is quite correct. Acceptance of selfish behaviour in public does not make that behaviour acceptable. Women applying make up on the train in the mornings says so much about the tawdry mentality of that person. Most of the make up products are tested on animals also which makes it more offensive to be done in public. Make up applying in public is simply 'ladette' behaviour and is nothing to be proud of.

I doubt breast feeding Mom would get her breast out to feed the kid at a football match for example. Or if Mom was at a restaurant on Brick Lane I bet she wouldn't get her breast out. No, she would either feed said kid beforehand in private, or take kid to loo or elsewhere, or feed breast milk that has been expressed to said kid. So Mom would not choose to 'shock' or cause offence in those situations. Public breast feeding is choice, not necessity, feeding is necessary, in public its not.

One should take into account the kids likely hunger needs before one ventures out, and timetable said venture accordingly.

Breast feeding kids on public transport and in any public place. Do not accept 'but it's the most natural thing to do' arguement as other natural bodily functions are done in private.

Have to agree with the original poster however the thread title could've had a tad more thought! Really is no excuse ladies, its tardy and sloppy and reflects badly. What next, more intimate activity to get ready for the day?! And won't anyone think of the children?

Air pollution harming schoolchildren
UncleBen replied to Inthepink's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Lets put a big plastic bubble envelope around all schools! Sheesh! The clowns have got a lot to answer for! Maybe if all the 4x4 driving parents allowed little Timmy to walk to the prep air quality at school would improve. Oh, hang on what about elsewhere the kids go-oxygen tanks strapped to their backs? -

Barber will have it closed down!

Its a shame local councillors didn't put as much effort into maintaining Dulwich hospital for medical use rather than their own machinations for schools, cop shops & art galleries. Anyway, back on topic - why not use the original ED police stn site cornor crystal palace/northX?

JB-exactly how long has the star rating scheme been running? You did not seem to care beforehand. Oh wait, southwark operated its own rating scheme before the national scheme which was under the condem led southwark council-you did not care about it then either. Funny that. Edited to add that JB is sooo concerned about ED residents health that he has not considered that ED residents may actually eat outside of ED. Sheesh. Zero political stars JB, just too see through!

Girlfriend invites boyfriend around to her parents house for dinner to meet them for the 1st time. They all sit down at the dining table & begin eating. The boyfriend is so nervous meeting the parents that his guts are playing up. Hes very windy & lets a fart slip out. The father curls his nostrels, looks under the table at the family dog & shouts "Rover! Rover". The boyfriend sighs & laughs to himself that hes got away with it & they thnk its the dog. They carry on eating but the boyfriend lets out another fart. Again the father looks under the table & shouts "Rover! Rover". The boyfriend carries on eating all innocently. 5 minutes later the boyfriend lets another fart go & the father looks under the table & shouts, "Rover! Rover! Get out from under his chair & come here before the dirty bstard shites over you"!

Calm down everybody peeps! We have established that JB has no right or power to request re-inspections, that was my whole point. Now, as for star ratings Strafer Jack, Georgia, and others have said that ratings will not influence their choices-thats fine. On the other hand reeko and mick mack will be influenced by ratings-thats fine also. Rosie, it would be foolish of me to say which establishment(s) i am connected with, suffice to say it is popular and with a high rating. And I like uncle bens!
-
Cllr Barber, please please read the procedure-you cannot ask for re-inspections -only the proprietor can. Therefore you are misleading everybody, again! Its like Cllr Barber asking for all East Dulwich registered cars to have MOTs when not due! If Cllr Barber and anyone else cared to read all the gumph on the website they would see that health inspector inspections frequencies are governed by national and european laws-not Barber and his shameless waste of councils time and mis-information to his constituents! I do not know where NorthX Rd food stallholders wash their hands susiq, maybe JB can tell us!

Planning Application for 1 Lordship Lane
UncleBen replied to Freddy1929's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes, fill a nieche by all means, but not to the detriment of long standing residents, so in proportion please. My conservative guess is 10k takings per week for EDT, and thats not counting their other pubs, so wringing pennies would be greed and not survival. -
Inspectors have been inspecting for years reeko, before star ratings and James Barber! For anyone to believe that all restaurants are clean and meet all requirements is very naieve. The bottom line is that JB has no right whatsoever to request re-inspections at all, and it is just more misinformation that he propagates a la co-op licensing.

Planning Application for 1 Lordship Lane
UncleBen replied to Freddy1929's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Point taken Penguin, but i would suggest the pubs you have mentioned were poorly managed. The EDT does not need to extend nor diversify for survival-it's packed most nights of the week, and so it must be to wring every last penny out. -
Greedy gits that partake of a set price eat as much as you like Sunday curry on the Lane, AND then ask for a doggy bag!

Planning Application for 1 Lordship Lane
UncleBen replied to Freddy1929's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes Penguin, but pubs are not shutting down in ED, it is the opposite so moot point. Harvester-perfect for a small hotel or B&B - not extending an existing pub negatively impacting on residents. -
If you read the post, you would see the incentive to improve is customer numbers, despite what previous posters have said. You also do not grasp the point, like the ill informed councillor that the only people entitled to ask for a re-inspection is the prorietor. Again, to Edealer, the same advice as to Barber-read and understand the procedure before spouting. Enjoy your food.
