  1. It's none of anyone's business what is in anyone's bins. Caution about personal information is another matter, but so bloody what if I chuck some shoes or clothes which aren't suitable for a charity shop. My call, no-one's business. Why don't they trawl the clothes dump in the Sainsbury's car park, if they're so concerned about shoes, rather than the slimmest probability a single bin contains discarded, in good nick and which fits them! What a laugh. Lady Deliah, wake up. It's totally invasive and they have no right to be there. It's shocking that you think it's ok for strangers to root around peoples front gardens. They should not cross onto private property. Their 'problems' are not mine and certainly the solutions for those problems and the mechanisms to help are not to be found on other people's residential property - even if they were genuine, which I don't believe for a second. Let's say it - gyppo behaviour and opportunistic thievery, nothing more.

All British Rail buffet paninis and provincial museum sarnies. With sweet chilli drizzle. The sooner it goes bust and becomes a decent outlet (beautiful site) the better.
  3. It's not just bank statements - even junk mail with your full name and address can be added to various other bits and bobs to build a profile of personal information. Another piece of junk might have your DOB on it for example, or phone number. Or log-ins to things such as wifi - or utility bills as proof of address. Endless. Please let's not be so naive that they're poor cherubs awaiting some charity like Santa Claus the Movie. Get the f*** out of my front garden you robbing skanks... I'd encourage anyone who sees this to take pictures quite blatantly so they'll know you're onto them, and your particular street may then be not safe for them to return to.

The Southwark website has application forms if one wanted to make changes impacting a TPO tree, but how does one establish if it has a TPO or not in the first place?
  5. I can't find anywhere on the Southwark website to actually search for a TPO - just to apply to do works? Is there a database or list, so I can check one?

Not even City Thameslink? That's not the Overground - he means the line up to Canada Water and beyond. Which actually is quite handy for the top of the city (i.e. Bishopsgate) from Shoreditch station.
  7. Are there direct trains from ED to East Croydon? Which I'm assuming is the really quick route from FH/HOP...

    Lost weekends

There is a fairly large elephant in the room here in regards to a ?200 spend on a night out. Come on guys...
  10. Love Angels & Gypsies. That whole stretch is great for (evening) eating. Plus the pubs for more daytime stuff and boozing of course. Camberwell Arms is pretty great - menu always changing, make their own charcuterie, cocktails, more adventurous stuff like game/rabbit. Crooked Well very good too, but a safer option.
  11. The Clockhouse is basically an All Bar One/beige Northcote Road type establishment, I'm surprised tillytots doesn't like it compared to some of the better pubs in the area. Can't comment on the clientele particularly, speaking more on decor here.
  12. I assume your more successful, lucrative business does not involve too much copy or paragraphing...

  14. Both West Dulwich and Forest Hill are zone 3, which adds cost and not a tiny amount of shame. But if you're coming from Clapham (blow ins, as the conspicuously absent contributor would say) - then Balham is normalised for your circles no doubt, so zone 3 may be acceptable. HOP is duller, but you're on the cusp, Overground is more frequent than via Denmark Hill, and LL is very close. West Dulwich isn't really much of a place, but good line to Victoria. You'd be better at the Herne Hill end and using the amenities there, which are quite good when it's not submerged.
  15. I missed the amplifier bit, fair enough. But yes, it did seem a more pointed social jibe than a pure noise complaint.
  16. I don't understand why people can't mind their own business. Even if it is a dog-shit ridden patch surrounded by bus fumes, if total strangers choose to sit there, who cares... more room for you in the nicer parks.
  17. I thought the Brixton ice rink site was better, but that's been thrown out I understand.
  18. And I wasn't personally telling you 'what you want' JamesViktor: " Any longer and you want proper trains" was clearly the royal 'you', as in 'one'. Not you yourself. So pipe down. And feel free to set up a Slade Green Forum if you feel the zone 2/3 chat doesn't meet your geographical needs, clue's in the name...
  19. The point is not about the rubbish, it's about somebody opening your gate, coming onto your property without permission and rifling through your front garden - which is as much your own space as your toilet. There's a difference when somebody puts something out on the street, or if your bins are on the street due to no front gardens/flats - then yes, open season. But all these virtuous dolts trying to appear green are missing the bigger point - about normalising strangers poking around your front garden with implicit permission, and what that can lead to...
  20. I think tubes work best up to about 3/4. Any longer and you want proper trains which don't stop much in zones 2/3 - much like how Paris's Metro and RER are very distinct in their scopes. But London is a lot more contradictory and random.
  21. I think he meant terminate there, rather than have a station. I agree, it's the typical South London tube situation of terminating too soon. I doubt the Victoria line could handle further than Brixton, but the Bakerloo is dead half the time. You'd at least want to get to zone 3, say Forest Hill or Lewisham, for example. Any further out, you'd not want to sit on a hot little toy train but a proper one.
  22. Shooing them off with a broom will usually do the job.

Well done to James Barber - certainly puts in the legwork on this forum and I wouldn't be surprised if that engagement was partly responsible for his victory, especially in such anti-LD times.

I don't think they 'should' be, but I'm realistic about the struggles of running a small, independent business - retail or F&B.
