  1. If you move home OR even to a new borough how do you stop your Council Tax & what evidence if any do they need ?
  2. Such a shame - I popped in there first thing this morning & the staff cheered me up - it was quite refreshing to have a chat with friendly down-to-earth people.
  3. OMG, that is so frightening...I'm just so glad for you that your children are ok.
  4. poppet27 "There's a sweet driver who does the P13 run who says 'hello' to everyone who gets on and genuinely looks like he loves his job. I salute those people" I have heard quite a few good things about a particular P13 driver ...he is of Chinese origin ....& his customer service is impeccable... now he sounds like a good man.
  5. I sympathise then!
  6. Sorry to hear that Tea-drinker...I think that's been the rules for a long time, maybe put it in a plastic bag next time... I guess there won't be a next time though:) http://help.arrivabus.co.uk/faqs/using_bus/liquid

The dome is similar but not quite...! http://swim.net-genie.co.uk/siteimage/scale/0/0/30558.jpg
  8. Jump on a number 68 bus from Euston Station to Russell Square Station & Coram Fields is about a 5 minute walk away.
  9. Thanks Siduhe....I speak from experience because similar has happened to me. Whilst visiting a grave I have seen dogs off their leads running all over the graves & ornaments, a father & his 2 children playing football near the graves and just last week I had a young lad on a bike whizzing past - just as you think you can take a minute of silent thought. I just don't understand why use a cemetery to do these things when there are so many parks around??
  10. "and the cemetry accessible on Wood Vale is excellent for scooter practice (albeit respectful scooter practice) and a walk" . Excellent for scooter practice ??? - no it isn't - Please keep it as a cemetery and use the many nearby parks & gardens for scooter practice, thanks very much P.S Welcome to the area Sunny007
  11. Or try the Children's Country Holiday Fund : http://www.cchf-allaboutkids.org.uk/welcome.htm They provide respite breaks for disadvantaged children from London and surrounding areas and are now in need of volunteers for their Autumn and Winter Breaks (usually Friday evening until Sunday but sometimes you can just do Saturday until Sunday). You stay in holiday accommodation in the country with the children, escort them on days out to the seaside, farm visits, picnics etc - accommodation & food all included. Great fun, tiring but very very rewarding! ...and finally good on you for considering adoption!
  12. Thanks Dopamine1979 and Alice! Silly me! :)
  13. I like the sound of whistling...but yes I agree it could be annoying at 3am if he's stationary...it also feels a bit strange to me to see his innocent photo plastered on here...but maybe that's just me.
  14. Good Luck Ash Kebabs, You've done really well to open a new business in the area. I saw you standing outside a few days ago so I can put a face to all your hard work. Any new business needs local support whether it be actual or verbal...it really doesn't take much does it to just say "Good Luck with your new business"??? I agree with spark67 and Jah Lush .... I also remember the kebab shop from many many years ago, so good luck, all the best & welcome.
  15. Oak Tree Nursery is closing: http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/ofsted-to-close-nursery-where-toddler-walked-out-onto-road-9645764.html
  16. loni: I too am amazed that someone else remembers it as the person I was with all those years ago vaguely remembers it but doesn't recollect it as clearly as me! I'm not sure of the year, it could have been post 77 or 78 and the other thing it was in the evening (maybe the workers that came rushing out where to do with a post school club/youth club)???
  17. Does anyone have any recommendations for hotels in Florence? It needs to be a reasonable price, central to the main attractions such as the Duomo Cathedral, Uffizi Gallery, Piazza della Signoria Square, The Bell Tower, The Old Bridge and the Pitti Palace. Thanks in advance
  18. A pampering day spa in London like the 'Sofitel So Spa' in Piccadilly. This deal includes use of sauna, jacuzzi, afternoon tea and a 60 minute treatment for ?95.00 (I've been there twice and would recommend) : http://www.buyagift.co.uk/Pampering/So-Magnifique-Spa-Experience-with-Afternoon-Tea-at-Sofitel-So-SPA-BR-10520519.aspx
  19. Todays Ritzy news; A long-running pay dispute is set to be resolved after a breakthrough at peace talks. Bectu has said that it will recommend acceptance of a new offer by Picturehouse. Staff are being offered an immediate pay rise from #7.35 an hour to #8, rising in stages to the London Living Wage of #8.80 in September 2015.
  20. Yes and mine was Pre Chinese lantern days
  21. Many years ago I saw the same above what used to be known as Waverley Upper School/ Peckham Rye - and it wasn't just me - a group of school workers came rushing out of the school to witness the same.
  22. It's a shame that not everyone is as considerate as you EDmummy!....I too have had to close windows (in this sweltering heat) to block out the noise.
  23. Yes heard the music last night but it didn't bother me too much, it's the constant drilling and building works early every weekend that's starting to get to me!
  24. There's a huge burst water pipe on Lordship Lane, opposite Overhill Road...they are working on it at the moment.
  25. Just to add, There's The Ebony Horse Riding Club in Brixton, Teenage Roller disco in Vauxhall and The Oval House Theatre in Oval. http://www.rollerdisco.com/showevents/11/eventdetail
