Now, some of us like to rummage through the book shelf in the St. Christopher's charity shop, as you can get some really good books and do your bit for the Hospice, but there are a certain class of East Dulwich mums who seem to monopolise the shop and get in your way, whilst fighting over the baby and children's clothes. The other day, it was worse than usual because the clothes were on sale at a really ridiculous price and the posh birds were going ape, trying to grab the best bits. Phew! It does, rather, amuse me when I see these women buying their kids clothes from charity shops, as they could easily afford to shop elsewhere. Funny how the less well off will skimp and save to buy their kids the best and others would rather skimp on the children, yet spend obscene amounts of money on alcohol, entertaining, food and on themselves? Sorry, but have I missed something here? What else can't you get your head around?

The view of the church at the top of Barry Road, when you turn right from Peckham Rye near the Clock House and drive towards it. You feel as if you want to go back in time. It's beautiful.

My dear neighbour, a lovely woman who was born in Cyprus during the British Rule, has been in this Country since the age of seventeen (she came here in 1953). Having worked extremely hard and contributing to the economy of this Country - and never relying on the State for anything - she was extremely offended to have been told, by a so called English friend, that she was not British and never will be and is, in fact, a foreigner! This from an ignorant Bermondsey born, never done a day's work in his life, living in a council flat and on benefits, whose 'Wife' does a bit of 'cash in hand' work on the side. Yeah, "No if's, no but's". Any one gonna accuse me of being racist, then? Oh, it's all very well to go and colonise some other Country, ruling it with a rod of iron and expecting it's people to swear alligence to your King or Queen and be treated like second class citizens in their own homeland and, then, expect them to fight in your wars and, then, when you need someone to do your dirty work and take up the jobs that your 'own' people won't do, invite them to come here to rebuild your economy - that's if they could, actually, find a room to rent that didn't have a notice in the window saying, "No blacks, No Irish and No dogs". As was the necessity at that time, in order to pay the mortgage, this lady rented out a part of her house to a black family and, still, recalls the day when the gentleman knocked on the door and said that he had come about the rooms but would understand if she did not wish to rent it to him and his family. She said she couldn't understand why not and that family lived with her for about a year, until they could afford to put a deposit on their own house. Many years later, she was on the bus and the conductor was that same gentleman, who insisted he pay her fare and told her that he would never, ever, forgot her genuine friendship, help and kindness. She told me that she could never understand why the English people, of that time, were so intolerant of black and Irish people and why, despite being born British and living here for nearly fifty-five years, she's still classed as a foreigner!

Don't get me started! They were British enough to fight in WW2 and during the EOKA troubles and, like most of the Commonwealth, when the Mother country needed them.

I'm beginning to miss Tony Blair as Prime Minister and believe (for all his faults) that he made a better Prime Minister than Gordon Brown, who has not lived up to expectations and all the hype. He, always, looks and sounds uncomfortable and does not have the charisma associated with a world statesman.

Who would be your ideal desert island companion? Personally, I would like to be stranded with someone who was trained in survival skills, was extremely good looking, intelligent and witty - and who could cook.

Yeah, too right. At least the "middle class people" have a choice where they wish to spend their money. Some kids and their mothers do not. When the bullying father/partner is so addicted to betting and gambling that his family go hungry and without basic necessaties, living in constant fear of his abuse and violence, it doesn't matter what class they are.

One is a Scottish medium, known as the Psychic Barber and the other is an American medium, as seen on Living TV.

Although very shocking and tragic, it was only a matter of time. When she set foot back in Pakistan, you just knew that she would not be allowed to live. May she rest in peace and God help the people of that country.
