  1. Kids are going find all this stuff - and much much more - out so easily, they may as well hear from someone in a position of responsibility that masturbation, sex toys, anal sex, gay sex, etc are actually normal and nothing to be ashamed about. If you think people using anal toys is "weird shit" you must live a rather conservative life. As for "retrievable"... it's good advice, and could save a curious teen from an embarrassing hospital trip! The only bit I'm a bit confused about is the "anus/anus" thing.. that is a new one on me and I'm struggling to see how it's even physically possible, but it seems pretty harmless.
  2. I've had experiences when offering to give something away free (or nearly free). People claiming it's for their elderly mum, or their kids off to uni. Then someone comes to pick it up in a white van full of bric-a-brac, and don't even stop for a chat. It's not the end of the world, but it's not really the spirit in which the things were offered.
  3. LOL.. usually "room odourisers" are something else... and not hand sanitiser either!

  5. I've never queued up for 45 mins at Moxons. Sometimes 10-15 mins, I suppose. They prep (descale, gut, fillet if you like) the fish on the spot, just like Sopers and other fishmongers do. THAT'S WHY THERE'S A WAIT. I admit they're quite expensive, but what you're saying about them is just not true and makes me doubt that you've even been in there. Maybe glanced in and seen the freezers on the right. Daft thread. Don't know why I took the bait (ha). Shouldn't get reeled in (ha ha).

Looks like you've already arrived at the answer. But to summarize - women don't like to get smelly and smokey, and they also know that men like fire, so it's a no-brainer. Cleaning it then becomes our responsibility by default, as obvs we're the one that used it. Interestingly, if us men try a similar tactic (i.e. "I really don't enjoy cleaning, but I know it brings out your homemaking instinct, so here's the hoover, I'll make the drinks"), it is considered inappropriate!!
  7. They are crowded - but you should always be able to get on. Unless there's a backlog due to cancellations. Speaking of which... it is not a particularly reliable route. Particularly the return journeys in the evening, where cancellations are very common. Peckham Rye is much better as you also have trains to Blackfriars/Victoria, and the overground which goes to some semi-useful places too.
  8. James - as "Mabaker" also commented a few weeks ago, lots of people have paid their garden waste subscription, but received no sticker. Myself included. Meanwhile, garden waste is piling up in the bin (including fruit fallen from trees), it is rotting and it stinks. If there is a known problem with getting garden stickers sent out (i.e. staff unavailable due to covid), maybe they could just... you know.. take the bloody bins once in a while?? Or at the very least send an email letting us know what's going on. This is incredibly poor service.
  9. Got caught out by this a couple of weeks ago, luckily received a "warning" in the post instead of a fine. But agree that this hasn't been communicated at all well.
  10. Chapter One restaurant near Orpington is really good, certainly a "special occasion" type of place, and they have some outdoor tables. Probably a half hour drive. You won't really find a countryside-like vibe much close to home... unless you count the Fox on the Hill...
  11. Yep. They can cut it for you in store with a bit thingy.
  12. Astronaut gets locked out of a spacecraft and turns into a foetus.
  13. As I think I said elsewhere, I personally don't feel ready to go into a pub. But, is it controversial to say that there comes a point where containing the spread of the pandemic cannot be our ONLY concern? When we're talking about people's businesses, careers, livelihoods. Their ability to pick up their lives, pay their bills and feed themselves and their families. These things are important too, the job of the government is not just to protect our health. There is a balance, and I'm not necessarily saying we've got it right, but we can't close down the country forever.
  14. If the author thinks that buildings and bridges resemble male genitals, she must have met some quite unusual men. Besides, I'd be all for some buildings shaped like lady bits, if it helps even things out.
  15. Roads in London with large front gardens? I can't think of many of those...
  16. I have no intention of going inside a pub this summer. I know that businesses need to get back on their feet - it is important. But only seems to be the minority that are doing the reservations, track-and-trace, table service thing. Most of them seem to be pretty much a free-for-all. this is just going to be counter-productive if we all have to close everything up again in a few weeks time.
  17. Bishop/Actress/Florence/Victoria/etc were all part of Scott Collin's little empire back in the day, before selling and starting Meat Liquor (what I wouldn't give for even one fifth of that business sense.. sigh..). Now they're all part of Greene King (Metropolitan is just a sub-brand, maybe trying to keep a little bit of that indie vibe).
  18. I always thought that those little courtyards were to get around party wall issues. Maybe I'm wrong.
  19. What do you mean... "fabled" residential roads? Are you denying that there's a material difference between A roads and residential back streets? I'm not criticising as such, I sometimes follow the sat nav down god knows where to bypass traffic, but at the same time I understand the practice is problematic. The crazy Peckham one way system has created many such routes, with everyone from boy racers to full size coaches driving down narrow residential roads. It feels very dangerous.

Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Well yes, there is a massive difference! Cask ale is very different, I'd agree. Guiness/stout from a nitro tap is very different, too. Lager and craft keg beer - not so much. In fact I'd say canned craft beer can be better. Probably fresher, and definitely more consistent. Support the pubs, though. That would be a fine reason to get a takeaway beer.
  21. Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Tesco don't sell draught and keg beer, or at least > they hadn't changed into a pub last time I was in > there :)) You must REALLY notice the difference between bottled/canned vs draft beer, if you're inclined to pay 2-3 times the price!
  22. If during the day, the Rye cafe and Cafe G (and sometimes The Herne) sell beer to takeaway. But TBH I don't understand why you wouldn't just go to Tesco.
  23. Often for big jobs like extensions, you might get a skip for a week or so while the majority of rubble and rubbish is generated (demolition/gutting). Then throughout the rest of the job, the builders will use a "wait and load" to take away further rubbish.

Agree with the rest of your post too. Let kids be kids. Working from home has it's challenges, but this whole thing has probably been harder on them than it has been on us.
  25. 8am is not unreasonable, but playing clarinet in the garden is!
