  1. We need someone for the last two weeks of september, however we left ED just over a year ago now and live in rural Kent so the house sit is more of a country retreat than city break!! Car driver essential!! It's lovely here and very relaxing but sadly there is no local forum to ask these things! Everyone locally seems to be working 24 7 at the moment harvesting!!
  2. I really have no idea where to start... Thank you Clare
  3. Another vote for the Streatham one - we used a few times and they were great.
  4. Does anyone know if white dog reunited with owner OK? Or Weimaraner for that matter....
  5. I second anything kitchen/ doll like, my daughter is 3 and loves dolls / prams/ home stuff etc, she got a bike for Christmas (big girls one with stabilisers) which she really loves!
  6. We bought a Thule one - not cheap but no problems whatsoever and would recommend.
  7. I'm having one in a couple of weeks, they do cook it on site - think they are setting up @ 8 hours before (it's a large hog). The chap I'm using rears his own pigs and came highly recommended by 3 separate (and independent of one another) sources. I'm expecting good things but don't know if he covers London, we are Kent now.

Chap at the Plough beats WR hands done! Fantastic meat, lovely friendly knowledgeable service and reasonably priced too.
  10. Running! I had a running buggy which was fab- sadly didnt use it long as got pregnant again really quickly but it was great whilst it lasted!
  11. Very sad but as others have said at least you tried which is all you could have done. It's nature.... And nature is very harsh! I had a sparrow fly into my utility room who was obviously unwell. I made a bed up and an appointment at the vet but it died before I got it there. I also took a sparrow to the vet that had collided with my dog (dog was running and bird flew into the dog which stunned the bird) - vet put the bird down :( I think wild birds are tricky to save sadly. On a positive note I have managed to save two lambs and a chicken so always worth a try!
  12. I found one last year, apparantly they fall from the nest when learning to fly. The RSPCA told me to leave it where it was and the parents wouldn't be far. I was dubious but they were right. We have no cats locally but I was worried about foxes! Is there somewhere sheltered near where it was found that it could be put safely?
  13. I've been to Meganisi, Ithaca and Paxos - all lovely! Off to Hydra this year. Quiet Greek islands are a true gem, just a stones throw away. If you can sail I would recommend a sailing holiday island hopping! Can't do that myself at the moment ( two small children) but have done so in the past and loved it! May and September ideal - good weather in the day, not too hot at night to sleep. Edited to add; the harder an island is to get too the less crowded it is in my experience. Avoid islands with airports!
  14. I'm also in the this is dinner (and there is nothing else) camp. The kids eat the same as us. They particularly like spaghetti bolognaise, shepherds pie, fish pie, BBQ and sausages!! Allowing dippy dippy sauces helps too. I tend to give them fruit or yogurt for pudding with the occasional treat such as an ice cream. Rules are if you don't eat dinner you don't get pudding! I stick with this and they know it. Both good eaters.
  15. We had a pack of tights put through our door..... On two occasions! But that's a different thread and a few years ago now! Happy birthday Lucy!
  16. I've got a 15 month age gap between my two, it is hard work but having a routine and doing things does make all the difference. It gets easier the older they are too! I started my eldest at nursery for two half days a few weeks before my youngest was born. She loved it! It gave me some one to one time with the baby - you do find its the toddler that takes the most attention at first! We also have a cleaner, ironer and gardener. Trying to fit in these tasks is hard! My two are 2 and 3 now, they are great friends and play really well together. They almost look like twins now! It's a lovely age gap, hard at first but pays dividends!
  17. It wasn't a quick legal question you needed help with.
  18. :) Presume it's not painful and doesn't cause redness?
  19. I had something similar in that stretch about 18mths ago - It was winter and dark although much earlier. I was pushing a double buggy with a small baby and toddler in and ended up walking in the middle of the road as I didn't feel comfortable - I think I had briefly been on the phone to say I was en route home!
  20. Yes, that is what it means but it only applies (ie is valid) if the meeting was a genuine attempt to resolve a dispute. No dispute and the meeting is admissable!
  21. Is it good? Or not..... Literature seems to promote is a miracle facial! X
  22. It's only 'without prejudice' if it was in an attempt to settle a dispute- no dispute then without prejudice doesn't apply and the meeting is admissable!
  23. If you can get a seat it's helpful - I found the hardest part with a one year old was take off and landing because he had to sit on my lap and didn't want to - once he could sit in his seat he was easily entertained with iPad / stickers/ play dough/ colouring/ new toys etc. I make up a travel rucksack for each child to carry - books /colouring/ play dough etc this entertains them as they like carrying it and being able to choose what to do. I also wrap up cheap toys (?1 shop good for this), so I can produce a wrapped present at times of boredom and have the added bonus of bribery - if your good etc! When travelling with a toddler and a baby with neither having a seat (I tried to purchase one for the toddler but wasn't allowed) my partner and I sat with a seat between us (me at the window, him at the aisle) as we knew the flight was not fully booked and suspected no one in their right mind would choose to sit with us. We were right :) Later discovered there are only 4 oxygen masks per row of 3 seats anyway so you can't have 3 seated passengers in those seats if there are two infants in the row.
  24. You need an architect to draw up plans and a structural engineer to make the necessary calculations. Until you have plans drawn up it is not possible to gain an accurate price on cost - and you will need the plans to apply for planning permission anyway.
