former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
susiq replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
thank you for your reply re; private message, and I understand some of the difficulties in sourcing local produce, but not all, I am sure local shops, given the chance, could do more, you failed to address the situation regarding too many licensed premises and the control/policing of drunken people in and around the these places well after hours, I am all in favour of people having a good time but from friday night to monday morning the amount of noise, screaming, fighting, littering, damage, especially outside Panther Cars, is unacceptable, what about the law that states customers should not be outside licensed premises after 11, walk passed Liquorice, Palmerston, Bishop, East Dulwich Tavern and you'll find this law being flouted EVERY WEEKEND, what about the people who live here and their rights, as for you being new, I dont think that has anything to do with it, if you are representing this ward I assume know what goes on in it. -
try living near Panther Cars, give me the wildlife - not people wildlife

is there any chance we can limit the number of licensed premises in Lordship Lane, it seems every other shop has a license to sell alcohol, I live off Northcross road and have to listen to pissed/drugged up people - either getting a cab from panther cabs or getting into their cars. A majority of the people holding a license in Lordship Lane - yes I have enquired - do not even live in the vicinity, as for bringing business into Dulwich, mostly all of premises buy their produce/alcohol/food from outside SE22 (just look at the delivery vans outside these places) and take their earnings out of SE22, the customers who are supposed not to drink/smoke/re-enter the premises (by law) AFTER 11,are always outside LIQUERISH, PALMERSTON, BISHOP, EAST DULWICH TAVERN, BOHO BAR, ETC., loud, abusive and in the road. for those of us who have lived and worked here for a long time, its a sad place to be, when the newies and just acquired a license to create "eating rooms" etc, where old and old local people have no place to fit in, move on, what will we have left. -
you have good points and I appreciate your view, thankyou.

well then, I also hurt a lot of people/homeless/gormless/kids/rats/prats/twats/pests/tits and squirrels and so where should you draw the line. use sense, we start discriminating about one form of life how long till we start deciding about what sort of life should be allowed to live (especially in trendy dulwich) beggers, coke heads (non in trendy dulwich) people who drive guzzling 4x4s, pissartists, people who submit to dulwich forum, the breast feeding club, the ukelale club, stop, dulwich alone would be empty. but thank you Huguenot, you seem - ok.

what are you all on, these are foxes, looking for food, not terrorists, get a grip, make a loud noise, dont feed them if you dont want to, I am sure I would rather shoo away a fox, pigeon, badger bloody rat etc., than a perv or pedo, if you cant keep your family safe here dont move to peckham you precious things.

what have you got to offer
-
firstly, not yelling, you had your say, I had mine, and I do not think that my own personal view is that of any others, regular or not, there was no venom towards a human mother as you put it, foxes, badgers etc, will go back to their home if possible, so try digging down where the den is, place mesh wire along the opening and cover again with soil, failing that have you called organisation Fox Watch, they can also advise a humane solution.

in case you havent noticed people also spread disease, are messy, rob, kill, torture, have little regard for any other life, think they are the only creature with a right to exist, take more out of this planet than they put in, knock out children regardless of how many there are already in the world, badly drive bloody great 4x4s in town, despite lack of adequate parking, whinge on about "messy animals" without having a good look at how they live, move onto a nice plastic island, where everything is wrapped in non-biodegradable film, without any wildlife, unless of course its dead and stuffed in a glass covered museum, the children can then look at all the messy animals we wiped out, the worst disease on this planet is not spread by animals, its born with a very high opinion of itself.

My suggestion was not to feed foxes to kill rats I was pointing out to people who think foxes are just pests, that they do have a place (not just killing rats either) burglars do not need feeding they break in and steal what they like, burglars can also claim benefits if burglarising peoples homes dosent pay enough, I am not singling out foxes, I am happy to "help" other creatures who, through no fault of their own need help/food/kindness etc., and I do beleive we are all responsible to some extent for the survival of others/animals - not burglars.
-
because they are hungry! as in a previous message foxes clear up a lot of rubbish we leave, keep rat population down (like rats too) lovely to look at, have just as much right to be here as we do,through history people have always thought they had a right to "do away" with other living creatures, including some of their own, mostley for "crimes" they themselves commit - littering, noise, jaywalking, having offspring wlly nilly, destroying property, entering your home without permission etc., any reason we cant live and let live, we should be picking up our own rubbish, close the doors etc., lots of worse things about, not just foxes wander in, I've just been burgled (by vermin person) diddent deadlock door, council/rspca could also neuter wild creatures to decrease numbers without harm, and if the excuse is money, they could use the fees they pay to exterminators to kill our wildlife (and a lot of the money they pay staff for never being available/at their desk etc.) I feed the foxes because I like them, think they are beautiful, have a place in this life, they are part of all our food/eco chain - look it up, I want to contriute to their survival.
-
guilt? for what, I enjoy and appreciate all life, even people, I do think everything has a place here, again, even people, what a sad, dull life would be if all our wildlife was gone, and how would yu know if I feed rats?

put lots of pepper around the cat flap, keeps everything away.as for all the calls to "pick up arms and kill, kill, kill, hope you feel that way when some pratt out there listens to you and kills whatever moves, hope its not you, your kids or pets, have some sense.

agree totally with sophie, there are a lots of things that do not make sense with this report, heard mother had to retrieve baby finger from fox mouth, without fox biting her? the finger was still attached to baby? the fox had baby and was banging it of door frame whilst mother was kicking fox, how big was this fox? I have been looking after and feeding foxes for 30 years down the generations and cannot get within 5 feet of them, they have never shown any aggression towards myself or my old cats who drag food away from under their noses. We have taken away land and food supply from foxes and other wildlife, hunt and chase them away from the homes they have (long befor we got here) expect them to find food in a "non-scavaging, pleasant way", as for the noise they make, I prefer that to the noise from drunken twats who leave the bars up and down Lordship Lane, screaming and yapping loudly on their mobiles from 11 to the early hours of the morning, slamming car doors (of which every car must have 10 doors)and the beer bottles, graffitti, spit and rubbish thats left by these twats, what a pretty picture "nortlondoner" paints (who must beleive everything the papers say) no wildlife, just him and his mates running round with guns, I look forward to it.

ok-condition of licence states dogs must be chipped etc. within weeks/months of getting dog? case of ironing out details but I do feel some sort of regulations/license should be put in place, note; there are also a lot of people/families/dog walkers who just let their dog/s of the leads and let them run out of sight, especially on Peckham Rye- (do they let their children do this), my concern here is they cant see if the dog fouls and so do not clear up, the dog could also be stolen/attacked or injured, we all want our pets and children to have some freedom but safety should always be paramount.
-
dog licenses used to be law, it would require the dog owner to supply a description of the dog plus the owners contact details, it would be a good idea if the owners had to have the dog chipped and inoculated before a license was granted, this might go some way in deterring irresponsible people from getting a dog in the first place, you also had to be eighteen (far as I can remember) which does not mean young people cannot have a dog, parent oversee responsibility. In certain areas dogs are passed around from young person to young person, (apparently without the knowledge of the parents) causing suffering and bad/wrong behavior in dogs, it is the dogs who suffer ultimately in the end, its not just about police/RSPCA having powers to seize dogs its also about proper care of your pets and other people and their pets. If the draconian hat fits!
