  1. As I understand he provided them with strict instructions to contact us before arranging viewings, but yes, I will do that.
  2. I made a visit to the pharmacy opposite the library earlier today and was asked/told to sign a petition against this development. The petition was placed next to a copy of the SLP predicting something like Armageddon if this gets the go-ahead. It will, apparently, cause crime in the area to go up and also pose a massive danger to the nursery, it's occupants and all of the residents in the area. I politely refused to sign.
  3. I've just opened my front door after hearing somebody trying to unlock it from the outside to find a sales bod from Foxtons attempting to get in and show potential buyers around the place. I'm currently renting the flat and whilst aware that it's on the market had heard nothing whatsoever from them or the landlord informing me that they would be starting viewings. Our landlord is usually very good about things like this and always gives us plenty of notice when access is needed for work/repairs etc so I was somewhat shocked to have this guy insist that he had arranged this visit with the occupiers. Add to this the fact that i'm off work sick and confined to bed anyway, I am not best pleased. Anybody else had a similar experience of such intrusive behaviour from Lordship Lanes most recent addition?
  4. True. Apparently a good reason for having a legally held/licensed firearm can be one or more of the following: Membership of a gun club Vermin Control Deer Stalking - can't imagine much of this goes on in SE London.

Do you > think those idiots who shot that young woman in > New Cross, last night, had a gun licence? Probably not although I'm not sure how or why you've made the link between licensed firearms and last nights shooting. Care to enlighten me?
  6. Sorry to hear that. I've lost so many bikes over the years that I know keep mine indoors, although living on the 2nd floor of a building with no garden makes this something of a necessity. It wasn't you that put up the signs on your garden fence was it? If so I don't suppose that it worked and the thief was made to feel so guilty that the cycle was returned?
  7. What about the Fox on the Hill near Denmark hill or the Wetherspoons in Forest Hill for your cheap curry and pint combo? My colleagues are fans of the wetherspoons curry night. I was put off somewhat when i saw it being served from a big plastic bucket, labelled with "chicken madras" or similar.
  8. It's nothing sinister, secret or particularly IT related. It is the office of the Met Police Firearms Enquiry Team. They deal with granting/renewing of firearms licences in South East London. Have a look on www.met.police.uk for more details.
  9. Have had mixed experiences of the place. It is a massive improvement on the horrid place that it once was, the beer is very good, both in quality and choice but I am undecided on the food. Ate there Saturday afternoon, we took the serrano ham and rocket on ciabatta, olives and feta w. ciabatta and a morrocan flatbread with chicken, all very good and did the job nicely, despite waiting 30+mins for them due to a malfunction with the till system which meant the order didnt reach the kitchen, although a couple of complimentary drinks did the trick. However, ate there in August with my parents for a "proper" meal and was disappointed with the steak (overdone), and the potatoes (wrong order), although the black pudding starter wasn't bad at all. I think they do sandwiches and snacks very well but need to make a bit more effort on mains. I hope that as long as people point out where they are getting things wrong then the place will improve. I give it 7/10 for food, 8.5/10 as a watering hole.
  10. Indeed there is and on Saturday evening at around 6pm there was a youngish man squatted between said bins, sleeping. It was quite strange and slightly odd as my other half didn't notice it when we walked past.
  11. Hello. 1st post despite registering a long time ago. I would say The Magdala or The castle are the best pubs for watching football.
