Futterman's Rule should have applied here. If the host and the guests all abide by Futterman's, then awkward situations such as this will be avoided.

A fascinating subject and one close to my own heart, ruffers. We've used Stormguard over large, draughty single-glazed windows before and it really made a difference. Had one pack with tape that wouldn't stick to the frame, but this was an anomaly and swiftly replaced by amazon. If you can double-up with draught-excluding tape (where necessary) then do so. No experience of other brands but I suspect they are all very similar.

Just been told my dad's Amazon account was hacked last night and iPads and iPhones ordered for delivery today to my address in SE22. Amazon cancelled order as it was deemed suspicious. They've now suspended his account whilst they investigate further. I'm sure the SE22 connection is just a coincidence.

I would personally avoid Hive purely because of the twee, folksy advertising they're so keen on.

Gloves, I looked into this a couple of years ago but circumstances conspired to prevent me from doing it. Is there any reason you need a company to arrange it for you? Why not just book ferry, accommodation etc yourself? It would be a fraction of the cost. The route(s)to Paris are well established and there are lots of blogs and cycling resources online to help you plan. You can still ask for sponsorship and not feel like you're getting ripped off.

I was in Khan's today and, on my way to the chilli oil via the small packs of sesame seeds, passed the 'Honey' shelf. Alongside the Rowse honey (?2 a jar, if anyone's interested) are much larger jars of what, on first glance, looked like regular, everyday honey, with the added attraction of a huge slab of honeycomb inside, also priced around ?2. HOWEVER, ON CLOSER INSPECTION: Ingredients as listed: Honey (10%) Fructose Corn Syrup (30%) Honeycomb (60%) The jars aren't labelled 'Honey' as such, but they do feature a sinister-looking bee on the label and are of a script that my untrained eye couldn't decipher. I guess if you're a honey fan on the hunt for a cheap fix then it pays to read the ingredients.
