  1. Jose Mourinho is top of Real Madrid's managerial shopping list after the Spanish giants were knocked out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage for the sixth season in a row after losing to Lyons last night. The Inter Milan coach?s discipline and tactical acumen are seen as what is needed to turn the club?s expensive raw materials into trophy winners. Man Utd very much on fire last night good to see English clubs doing so well in Europe.
  2. Wonder what Sep Blaater will say if we have all English CPL final .... Can't really say much about the money after Real Madrid spending large....

  11. Chris Waddle has launched a withering attack on Theo Walcott after his performance for England against Egypt last night, accusing the Arsenal winger of lacking a "football brain". The former England international is not convinced Walcott has developed his game since he broke into the Southampton team as a teenager. "He just doesn't understand the game for me - where to be running, when to run inside a full back, when to just play a one-two," Waddle said. "It's all off the cuff." Everyone is against Arsenal Even old Spurs boys don't like em...
  12. Emotional hedge they call that.
  13. Also got this re the UK election Looking at the prices on Betfair for the coming UK General Election there are a few interesting insights that can be drawn: 1) May 6th is nailed on as the date: (staking ?100 @ mid mkt prices) Before May 6th => ?715 on May 6th => ?24 After May 6th => ?2,125 2) More interestingly, a Majority Tory Government is 3 times more likely than a Hung Parliament, with a Labour Majority being faded aggressively: (staking ?100 @ mid mkt prices) Conservative Majority => ?65 No Majority => ?198 Labour Majority => ?1,600 3) Digging further into that you can see the likelihood given to the different following outcomes: (staking ?100 @ mid mkt prices) Cameron/Majority => ?77 Cameron/Minority => ?350 Brown/Minority => ?430 Brown/Majority => ?1,825
  14. Right I do not really have an opinion on Eurozone but I do agree that they are in worse position than UK Hsbc Sold ?5 bill on Monday and also traded options with strikes around 1.4200 1.4000 area re the Pru Hedge but you did not hear that from me. I would not be selling GBP/USD until after the US unemployment numbers on friday we are trading 1.5050 and I think we get a bad US number trade up to 1.5150 and I will then start selling. Where we go who knows but GBP/EUR Parity?
  15. Ha sry too many screens and not enough coffee
  16. trade up to 1.5150 where I will sell GBP
  17. The Pru buying a US Dollar company for $35 billion of which $25 Billion in cash so they need USD they are a UK based company and so have cash in GBP pounds They Sell GBP and Buy USD When this was annouced around 10am the mkt was trading 1.5100 after which it fell to 1.4800 as everyone assumes the Pru is going to sell GBP and Buy USD . So everyone starts selling to A) get out of a long position B) Take profit C) Establish new short positions to make some on back of the news. At the close we are back to 1.4989 so everyone who thought PRU was selling has realised they had already got the USD and we are back to where we started We think GBP is toast and going to 1.4000 by June but thats just our opinion and we trade other peoples money not ours Hope that clears it up
  18. Hello the fall is also due to Pru buying AIG Asia unit for $35.5 Bill of which $25 Bill is in cash so mkts always think they have to do ths now when they would have been buying USD over past months to get a decent hedge. I work for hedge fund mainly in commodoties but we do trade currencies just to be clear.
  19. emotional hedge I also had man utd 3-0 @ 7-1 so not so bad Rooney really playing well lets hope he stays fit
  20. 88-1 for the 3-0 ?1 on big time me Funny on the ladbrokes web betting they stop at 0-2 for West Ham win at 66-1 Man -utd goes all the way to 8-0 and you only get 80-1 for that. Maybe they know something I will be happy if we just score against them.. 10th Place here we come
  21. Man Utd 0 West ham 3 Off to the bookies I go
  22. During one of her daily classes a teacher trying to teach good manners to fifth graders asked her students the following question: "Michael, if you were on a date having dinner with a nice young lady, how would you tell her that you have to go to the bathroom?" Michael said, "Just a minute I have to go pee." The teacher responded by saying, "That would be rude and impolite. What about you Peter, how would you say it?" Peter said, "I am sorry, but I really need to go to the bathroom. I'll be right back." "That's better, but it's still not very nice to say the word bathroom at the dinner table. And you, little Johnny, can you use your brain for once and show us your good manners?" I would say: "Darling, may I please be excused for a moment? I have to shake hands with a very dear friend of mine, whom I hope you'll get to meet after dinner."
  23. Father Murphy walks into a pub in Donegal, and says to the first man he meets, "Do you want to go to heaven?" The man said, "I do, Father." The priest said, "Then stand over there against the wall." Then the priest asked the second man, "Do you want to go to heaven?" "Certainly, Father," was the man's reply. "Then stand over there against the wall," said the priest. Then Father Murphy walked up to O'Toole and said, "Do you want to go to heaven?" O'Toole said, "No, I don't Father." The priest said, "I don't believe this. You mean to tell me that when you die you don't want to go to heaven?" O'Toole said, "Oh, when I die, yes. I thought you were getting a group together to go right now."
  24. Milan 9/5 Utd 8/5 Not a lot in it I would like Milan to win just to make the 2nd leg more interesting
  25. The Times Football Correspondent delivers his verdict on tonight's Champions League tie The last time Manchester United went to San Siro, in 2007, they lost 3-0 in the Champions League semi-final, second leg. Are United a different side now? In terms of personnel they are not that different but in their approach and mindset they have grown as a side. On that night Kaka and Clarence Seedorf showed Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney that they still had a lot to learn about playing at the highest level. But since that night United have learnt their lessons and have lost only once in 17 matches away from Old Trafford in the Champions League, their only defeat coming against Barcelona in last season's final. United may have been weakened by the loss of Ronaldo, who in 2007 hadn't developed into the dominant force he was by the time he left for Real Madrid, but they are a much more experienced side now. Players like Edwin van der Sar, Darren Fletcher, Paul Scholes and even Wayne Rooney have a wealth of experience in Europe and so while Sir Alex Ferguson might have spoken about tonight's match being experience versus innocence, United have plenty of know-how, despite being a much younger side that Milan. How will United approach the game? I expect them to match up against Milan's three-man midfield, with Fletcher, Scholes and Michael Carrick across the midfield. United will try and keep things tight early on and then, depending on how the match is unfolding, attempt to hit Milan on the counter. In contrast to 2007, Milan do not have anyone with the individual ability to terrify United. Kaka was outstanding in both legs in 2007 but since his departure to Real, there is no-one who strikes fear into the opposition. In midfield, Gennaro Gattuso, Andrea Pirlo and Massimo Ambrosini are steady and very good at their jobs. Ronaldinho is dangerous, but he is a fading force, as is David Beckham and although Alexandre Pato has huge potential he is nowhere near Rooney's level just yet.
