  1. Not sure if a CPZ is the answer but daytime parking is getting more difficult. After double parking on Waghorn St to drop off mum & her shopping I attempt to park so that I can join her for a cup of coffee. No spaces on Waghorn, Howden, Maxted, Nutbrook, Amott, Fenwick, Gowlett, Keston. After several circuits found a space on Oglander. This happens every week.
  2. Did mine online this month. Put application in Monday evening & passport arrived the following week, Wednesday. Lots of text & email updates as well.

Hopefully so :) Afraid not. Walked through the Sexby Garden today and the beds are full of weeds. Bind weed chocking all the roses. Spoke to one of the gardeners & apparently there are fewer staff & they keep being given ?projects? to do rather than general maintenance & weeding.

Guessing the extra > fencing? That?s what I thought but having seen the site today they have put solid fencing round the whole site even where there?s park fencing.

Never really found out what caused it but suspected washing powder. Have used soap nuts ever since and they are brilliant. Also they work out considerably cheaper than washing powder!
  7. Does anyone know why they are using the Park & not the Rye?
  8. I would have been happy with this festival if it had been on the Common instead of in the Park. I hope I am proven wrong and when I visit the park next week it will look the same as it did this week and the woodpecker is still nesting in the tree within the festival site.

I'm not 100% in favour of CPZ's but looking out of my window this morning at about 6:30am I could see about 4 empty spaces, that will have been repeated up & down the road. By 9am all those spaces were filled. Now I'm beginning to see people coming back to cars & driving off. We're close to the station so I guess most of them are commuters. So with a CPZ they would be unable to park here and I don't see how 'they'll be back"?
  10. There was a whole flock of Redwing in The picnic area of Peckham Rye Park on Monday. I recognised them as last time we had some major snow a flock descended on my Crab Apple tree and spent 2 days eating all the fruit. They were joined by several Fieldfare.
  11. OS maps on Southwark site from 1896, 1936 to 1952 & 1916 show several greenhouses on the site.
  12. I have just run the gauntlet of the Southwark Environmental Services 7525 2000 number. Before I could speak to a human I had to go through 7 recorded messages of how I could use the online service. I came upon the human option almost by accident it was so hidden. I understand this is all because Southwark are trying to get everyone to use the online services but not everyone has that access. I was phoning to confirm that the bulky waste collection can only now be booked online. My 78 year old aunt wants to use the service but she does not have a computer or the skills to use one. Of course I will book this for her but she is a competent & proud lady & I find it sad that this is one more thing that she has to ask for my help with when she is perfectly capable of making a phone call. I know many older people have mastered the internet but I would guess the majority of Southwark residents who do not have easy access to the internet are elderly. I see more & more instances of the elderly marginalised in their day to day lives because of the growth of everything only digital but I would have expected Southwark to protect its more vulnerable residents, not exclude them. I have emailed a complaint to Southwark but felt the need to make it more widely known

  14. Out on Ondine. Reported it about an hour ago & a visit was booked for Tuesday. Just had text saying that visit cancelled as they've discovered a network problem & will update when fixed.
  15. These are the photos on Pets located. Markings appear identical

  17. Roadworks, diversions & temporary lights. Traffic not moving northbound on Dog Kennel Hill
  18. Also can think of at least four bins on Bellenden Road and one at the junction of Marsden and Ondine.
  19. No service on Ondine. Now saying fix time of 17:05 today!
  20. Have received some post for "Alexanders" on Ondine Road. The number is illegible.
  21. And can a distinction be made between the Rye and the park. I'm sure using the pitches on the Rye would be no problem if they are free but if the school was constantly using the park for sports that would be a differernt matter. I have noticed that the teachers gather for a smoke under the first trees in the partk directly opposite the school!

The local elections for London were last year. As far as I'm aware there are no local elections in London today. So the postal vote documents that you should have received a couple of weeks ago would only have had general election voting?
  23. I've always used the online forms to order new bins, bulky waste collection and missed collections and found the service very good. I know there has been major budget cuts across many departments including job cuts/unfilled vacant posts so perhaps we are feeling the results of this. There are more cuts to come so can't see it getting any better.
  24. Highly recommend Waterloo Plumbing, 112 - 122 St. Mildred's Road, Lee SE12 0RG. Huge selection of baths, toilets, sinks, taps etc on display. Not pushy at all and lots of helpful advice. They can also recommend fitters. Ordered my bathroom suite from them and it arrived with them sooner than I expected and they were happy to hold on to it for a few weeks until I was ready to start.
