  1. Ahh, it is the pub i thought. I rescued some kittens from there just over a year ago, they were living mainly in the yard but also going across the roof and inside the building. We never found the mum, lets hope she moved on and didnt have any more there!!!
  2. Didn't that pub have a fire before and was in the process of being refurbished?
  3. Oh i'm going to worry now, i hope she didn't run off and die!!
  4. I think since they knocked down the big estate on Queens Rd it has improved somewhat. I work around Nunhead and Peckham quite a lot and it doesnt seem that bad, buy hey, i live in Deptford!! I think theres good parts and bad parts of every area, you just got to hope you find a good part.
  5. Can't believe i've only just seen this post. Tragic, scandalous. Every time i drive past it, i want it. My dream is to win the lottery and buy it. Still, i guess a few boxes on that corner will look just as good :X
  6. If you like cats The Celia Hammond Animal Trust always needs volunteers, especially at weekends.
  7. Anyone thinking of using Jeyes fluid should be aware that it is poisonous to cats.
  8. We always need volunteers MW74, if you're interested just call the clinic on 020 8691 2100, you might like to check us out at www.celiahammond.org.
  9. MW74, you could also have called the Celia Hammond Animal Trust, altho we dont specialize in foxes, we have been called out to quite a few, and we are local. What a sad, sad story. I rescued a fox cub last year that was running across the busy Stanstead Road in Catford one night - it was all alone and narrowly avoided being squashed. I put some cat food in a basket and he just walked in and i closed the door on him. I took him back to our clinic, named him Georgie, took photos that are still on my phone and Fox Project came and picked him up next day. Since working at the trust my philosophy has to be - you cant save them all - but i know how distressing it is when you cant save one. Chin up - you did your best.
  10. God no, that would be like a meat market!! Its just that all the nice men are usually with women - so unfair ;-)
  11. Can you have a rule that good looking men must not be accompanied by a woman :))
  12. This all reminds me of a trapping job i did in east london, we were in a garden trapping really sick cats and kittens and we got clamped. We didnt realise until they were just about to tow us away - it was poised above the van ready to clamp on. We appealed to their better nature, stating that we had sick cats and kittens on board, but to no avail. I made a colleague get in the van so that they wouldnt clamp down and tow us away. My boss got on the phone to the company, but they refused to release the clamps till we paid the fine! She reluctantly did so, but because she had a go at them, we had to wait till gone 9pm (she rang them around 6-7pm) until they came and released the clamps. I tried taking photos of the clamper guys on my phone - and the cowards all hid their faces. Scum of the earth.
  13. Is there a sign up in the car park that tells you where you have to place the ticket? If not, his argument about it being in the wrong place goes out of the windscreen !!
  14. I have the perfect solution to this - ban reproduction then there would be no need for parent and child parking bays :))
  15. Miss P wrote: I can't think of many things more revolting than stepping in cat poo. I think being plagued by rats and mice might be considered slightly more revolting!! I dont know where you guys live, but i do know there is a problem in Lordship Lane, due mainly to one particular man who is totally against neutering, subsequently his females obviously attract loads of toms. So you need to blame people like him, not the cats.
  16. Foxes dont generally attack cats unless the cat is sick or injured. They will, however, kill kittens. I dont know if anyone is aware that a pregnant cat was found dead in the flats by Banfield Road a week or so ago. The poor cats head was clean off!! I somehow doubt that it was killed by a fox, the cut was too clean - i suspect a far more dangerous breed of animal was responsible:(
