Robbed at Traffic lights in ED
DeptfordDiva replied to DeptfordDiva's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks everyone, yes i'm fine but was very upset at the time - i think i felt quite stupid! I did call the police and they were very good and drove me round to see if we could spot him, but no luck. He was white, probably 30 - 40 wearing dark clothes and it was a dark bike. He had short balding hair and he looked rough - probably a skag head lol. I'll know him if i see him again - so he better watch out. -
Last night, Monday 9th, at around 8.30 I was stationary at the traffic lights on East Dulwich Grove/Peckham Rye when a scumbag on a cycle came alongside my passenger door. He said you just hit me, i knew i hadnt but before i could lock my door, he opened it and grabbed my coat from the front seat. We both spotted my bag (which was under the coat) at the same time, and both grabbed for it - he won ! He cycled off through the alley between the flats. Luckily there was nothing of value in the bag - apart from my reading glasses - i'm blind without them. I just wanted to warn everyone to be careful at traffic lights and to make sure you lock your doors.

Abandoned kittens in East Dulwich
DeptfordDiva replied to DeptfordDiva's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I had a look round Northcross Rd today, didnt see any kittens but i did see a smallish young adult black cat - very friendly. I spoke to a lady who lives on the road - Nutbrook?? - and she says there are 2 that have been there for a while and she occasionally feeds. I'll put some notices up about those 2, but i dont think they could be confused with 8-10 week kittens so i will keep looking. Hopefully i will be able to go in the evening and they may be around then as it was very busy today. -
Abandoned kittens in East Dulwich

People seem to be dumping them everywhere, a couple have been dumped in a park in Lewisham in the last week. Even though we're full to bursting i wish they dumped them on us instead. Its hard to imagine how they must feel being taken away from their home and their mum and just abandoned in strange, cold and dangerous places - they are still babies after all. Theres some cold, heartless people out there !!! -
Abandoned kittens in East Dulwich

They're probably still in the area tho Sue, the other 2 kittens had both been around for several days. I will definately check it out. -
In the last week Celia Hammond has been called out on 2 seperate occasions to small kittens wandering the streets. The first was on Darrel Road and the second on Glengarry Road. Both kittens are around 8-10 weeks and have been hiding up in cars so were filthy dirty. They are both friendly so unlikely to have been born outside. My own personal opinion is that maybe someone has dumped these kittens in different locations. Can i ask ED residents to keep an eye out for straying kittens, and if anyone spots any to call us so that we can come and get them. The rescue number is 020 8694 6545 and there is an emergency mobile number on that answerphone. Thank you

Did anyone see my cat killed in Barry Road?
DeptfordDiva replied to Pugwash's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Such a shame. Binary-star is right tho, they quite often get an adrenilin rush and run back to familiar territory before collapsing. It's happened to me a couple of times. I think you're better off believing thats what happened rather than the awful alternative, it will be more of a comfort to you.x -
Initial vaccination courses are vital in both cats and dogs. Enteritis in cats and Parvo in dogs is usually fatal and an awful and preventable way for them to die. You can usually go 4 weeks between the first course with cats, but any later and you do need to restart. The isn't a vaccine against FIV in this country.

To the kind lady passing who phoned me an ambulance...

What causes it? I've known a few people who've had it, the only thing in common is that they were very slim and quite tall. Glad you're ok. -
Whilst it is true that foxes, in general, don't attack healthy cats, they will kill kittens and attack old, sick cats. However, i have to admit that there are now 'rogue' foxes that will attack any cat. We recently had a young, previously healthy cat brought into our clinic that had been dragged over walls by a fox - it had been seen by a householder who eventually managed to get the cat.

Whenever i find a dead cat, i take it to a vet (thankfully i work in one!!). I would also put a notice up saying something like 'would the owner of tabby/ginger cat please contact ... where we have some sad news for you'. I think its much better to know that your cat has died rather than frantically worry and search for it.

I recall a man in Camberwell some years ago, who trapped a fox using an automatic trap. A neighbour called us because he had left the fox in the trap for 3 days !!!!! That was downright cruel, the poor thing wasnt even covered over and caused himself countless injuries trying to get out. Why don't you seek advice from either the Fox Project or Fox Welfare.

Charming, what about cats that may come into your garden - poison can't tell the difference between a fox and a cat. If you're serious, you are extremely selfish (and nasty).

I'm not ashamed to say i love BB, and this celeb series is pretty good. I really want Jonas to win but i doubt he will, so my next choice is Nicky - shes so funny.
-
I hope this isnt more of the same type of incident of recent weeks. Over the last few months there have been 3 major fires in the Peckham/Camberwell areas. I'm convinced they are all the work of the same person.

Well done you, what a truly nice thing to do - happy new year
