sean, I think we have to separate membership of an organisation and the question of whether an individuals beliefs adversely impact their ability to do a job properly. I would say that both of the examples you mention are in the latter category. I accept that membership of the BNP is likely to mean that an individual has an approach that is incompatable with being a police officer or teacher, but I am still uncomfortable with the direction the proscribed organisation route takes us down

Whilst I find the views espoused by the BNP repugnant, I do feel very uncomfortable will restricting the rights of an individual in a certain line of work from freedom of association. If we are to say that police/teachers etc cannot belong to the BNP is it much of a stretch to foresee a time where you could not join such a profession without being a member of an "approved" organisation?

I think the loss of signal is linked to a power cut that has affected the street lighting at the far end of the road. The signal from the terrestrial aerial is also down. I have called the management company and they are looking into it. Cheers

I don't think anyone is suggesting that any school is "inherently crap". Jamma, for your suggestion to work parents are going to have to make a decision to potentially compromise their childs education in the hope that, in time, enough sufficiently engaged parents will do the same and standards improve. I for one am not willing to do that, and make no apology for it.

I'm sorry, but what sort of message does it send out to kids if you cynically go to church to get them into a particular school. I have a 1 year old daughter and I refuse to teach her that kind of lesson.

Have never really understood why someone's religious beliefs deserve a greater degree of respect than that given to any other view they might hold.
